And If you chase away all the people who are willing to provide the stability to your society because they didn't understand the difference between policy and law and made an honest mistake. You and your family deserve the hell you will get when it devolves to he with the guns makes the rules. So enjoy your time on your high horse. Don't cry when you end up in a third world pest whole. There was probably a reason those two officers were on indoor duty and not out engaging with the public.

Ha!! Possibly because his deputies VIOLATED a man's civil rights u Der the color of authority. They LAUGHED at the Constitution, were unprofessional, rude, put their hands on him. REFUSED to turn on body cams when asked. Acted like TOTAL BULLIES!!! All while the Sheriff watched on. The Sheriff himself acting like the SMUG A HOLE HE IS....If these Officers act like this while a person has a camera on them? Think of how they will act with the public when NO CAMERAS are on. Officers who are able to act that way directly in front of the Sheriff? I'm thinking there might be a whole lotta bad apples in that sheriff's dept. A whole lotta Deputies that have no problem Violating citizens civil rights.

Like the millions a day the sheriff's department was charging the Fed in grants looking for Brian Laundrie and they just bought new razors and rode in circles never getting off the ATVs or trails to actually look, just the appearance of looking, but trail riding, then charging us millions for it, the scams these local offices pull is outrageous, and the more crime rate they can conjure up then the more money they get funded as by law of the Fed to give the local offices subsidies, so it's not only fleecing the locals and state, but getting everyone else as well. I think policing has changed, but still has a lot more changes to go through, police drug testing being mandatory and not random, and body cams they cannot control and turn on and off is the two major ones

We live in Wyoming county we own a farm and we called the Wyoming county sheriff's because we were crossing our cows across the street in July 2017 a woman wasn't paying attention she was on her phone she went through the lines she hit our dog and killed it she hit my boyfriend with her side mirror scraped his side with it and the cows ended up stampeding through the fences and some of them were injured. That sheriff even though we called and emailed him numerous times made sure that because she was a state troopers sister she did not get one ticket absolutely nothing you can hit a farmer and kill his dog in a right to farm community and absolutely nothing happens to you because you're the sister of a New York state trooper and the sheriff believes in the good old boy system. I'm so happy he exposed that sheriff for who he is I've hated him since the day he said there was nothing they were going to do about it we were the ones that were wrong even though we live in a right to farm community and we have every right to cross our animals across the street we called to try to get cow crossing signs put up they said we did not need them because there was more than enough time for her to have seen the cows crossing and the dog and us in the road and that sheriff did absolutely nothing I'm so happy he is retiring he is unethical he's got the lowest morals and I thank God that karma finally caught up with him maybe now they can have a better sheriff at the top because that guy isn't what Wyoming county needs we need somebody that's good at the top! And I don't care if they see this and see that I'm talking trash about them I really don't care he handled our case disgustingly there was damage to her vehicle she admitted that she hit the dog by law she's supposed to use do care and stop and she didn't and she didn't even get a ticket because her brother was a State trooper. Absolutely disgusting I'm so happy he's going to be out of office and his last day I'm going to write him an email and let him know how happy I am that he's out

Good time to get people to respect their oath...if only a few have to pay with that which they swore on, the rest would fall in line quick.

What do you bet he was warned about 1st amendment auditors and it went in one ear and out the other. It might sound far fetched, but I see people doing this all the time. It's like no one ever talked to them on a topic. Sometimes it's important topics. I swear, it's like you never told them. This is why you warn them in email or writing so you have a record of it and they respond. I don't know anything about this case, but I just started wondering how this could happen in 2020.

I watched it from a youtube short. Glad i found the complete video of the news. Im happy that the cop planned to resigned and was not fired instead. And he had a retirement plan. Police department was probably thinking of a way to compensate if not reward him for his achievements. If only the world is like the U.S.

I mean the 1a auditor gave them a fair warning when they all thought it was a joke. But he gets to "retire" instead of being fired. I'm sure his severance package or whatever cops get will be nice for him. What happened to the old man from the movie "UP" that battered him and the other deputy?

For too long he violated people's rights - now that his rights violating tactics were put on display for the world to see its time for him to get out of Dodge. In all seriousness act as you should have by obeying the costitution you took an oath to uphold and the video would have never shown the sheriff in a bad light. If the sheriff acted accordingly that office could have saved faced and Dan would have presented them in a positive way. What a missed opportunity for you Sheriff SMH (Shaking My Head)

GREAT! AMAZING! After the audit was published I called and offered to teach their department about civil rights and deescalation FOR FREE and they turned me down. I offered to consult, again for free, with their training officer and they said, "We don't have one of those." Yeah, it shows. I wrote an email demanding the immediate and undecorated resignation of the Sheriff and here we are!

"Claims he had his rights violated?" Seriously? This is what's wrong with "news" in this country, why no one believes a word any of them say. There's audio/video evidence of them CLEARLY violating his rights, but according to these people, he's a "so-called auditor who claims he had his rights violated." They have to get in a little dig and then make it seem like it's unclear whether or not the cops violated his rights.

  • @jayb3207

Yes the "sheriff" is doing the right thing, he should have never been a "sheriff" if he does not know what people's civil rights are.
How is it that "law enforcement officers" do not know what people's civil rights are?
If you want to know if any "law enforcement officers" know what their job is, ask them what is more important, people's civil rights or the safety of "law enforcement officers?
True to their jobs "law enforcement officers" will always answer, people's civil rights.
The community is safer now that another dangerous "law enforcement officer" is off the streets.
    Thanks to the auditor.

It is so simple for officers to respect the 4thA and other rights, so it is hard for me to have empathy for the Sheriff who clearly understood what the right thing to do was and chose otherwise. It's not surprising that so many other officers in that jurisdiction have been getting it wrong since the standard gets set at the top. Hopefully the public can now be served by a more conscientious sheriff.

All he had to do was say to his deputies, "move out of this man's way", then take them to one side and explain to them that they were wrong. That's leadership. He failed, he didn't show leadership, he didn't educate his deputies, he isn't fit to be Sheriff.

I think police officers should provide their own "professional insurance" Continued bad conduct will force the insurer to raise rates and the cost of the insurance will price the office out of the job. The good thing about this is it will follow the office throughout his career and not be hidden in some government database if it is recorded at all.
