"I don't want to get better. I don't want to forget."
Then I am sorry Hatice but you're on your own. As much as it pains me to say it, you can't help a person who doesn't want to be helped

I know that pain all too well. My mother was an alcoholic, and me and my sister tried for years to get her to quit and get help. The longest she managed was about 3 years before she started drinking again. It got to the point she was having drinks in the morning after getting out of bed. We would constantly argue with her about how she was killing herself with drinking so much. But she kept saying 'She was an adult and she can do whatever she wants'. 3 years ago she passed away from liver failure due to excessive drinking. Leaving me and my sister to pick up the pieces of unsolved debt, unpaid medical bills and a bunch of other things.
I'm not sure about my sister, but I hold an extreme amount of resentment and anger towards her. I wonder why I wasted so much time on trying to help her when she made it clear she didn't want to get help. I had to give up college, my ambitions and get a crappy job (which I have since left) to take care of her when she fell ill.

@@TimberlakeTigerGirl I couldn't imagine that there's something we have in common. Especially not a thing like this.
For my mother went through a similar story. You see, my mother wasa sweet person. I don't doubt that she loved us. Granted, she was strict but I was waving it off, thinking that she just wants to ensure that nothing bad is going to happen.
She broke up with my dad when my sister and I were 10-11 years old. And over the following years, she started sinking further and further in despair. Her former husband had to go to Germany in order to sustain our family. My sister was growing more and more defiant at every possible opportunity. And finally, there was me. I was having troubles at school (I was one of the best students but I had bullies picking up on me at every possible opportunity. Not even on our home we could be left at peace).
Eventually, she turned to alcohol in order to put her problems aside. Even for a little while.
It reached the point, where she was drinking every day. She didn't take it as far as to begin drinking once she was awake, but to see her in close proximity to a bottle of wine or some beers when I was returning from school was a sight my eyes were well accustomed to.
My sister had practically given up on her. She was dealing with this situation by ignoring it, whenever she and our mother weren't fighting. I tried to talk some sense into her. Only to get scoffed at. "You don't get to tell me that I have a drinking problem. You can't judge me. And if you don't like what I am doing, you're free to go to Germany and your father. If I don't send you to him first."
She was growing more and more desperate to remain at the top of the family household. It was like she was becoming someone else when she was drunk and she was meeting defiance. She was grabbing me by the chin (a gesture I really hate and she knew it). She was belittling me whenever I wasn't taking her side on things ("you are no son of mine") and she was outright threatening to send me to my father.
"You can't compete with me. I hold all the cards. Without me, you're nothing. No source of income. No allies. Your own father wants nothing to do with you. If he loved and cared for you as you want to believe, he'd have taken you with him. Or at least make sure that you're cared for. But he never did. And the moment the opportunity to get rid of you presented itself, he grabbed it."
It was so hurtful. And the worst part; When sober, she was regretting what she had said and she was apologizing. Only for the circle to begin anew a few days later.
Finally when my sister and I were 17, she went to the hospital. She went through a surgery for her stomach (she always had a wound there, but years of constant drinking had worsened its condition). She did get out but a month later...she died.
Our aunts and teachers took us in and looked after us, until our father can return and gets settled in with us. And he's not whatever my mother tried to make me think he is. Sure, he wants to get his way, he is crude and has a temper, but he's good natured.
We had our difficult moments. But we managed. I finished the university in 4 years and I am on a post graduation project, while my sister has started a family of her own.
But I still think of my mother. A part of myself is very angry at her and her domineering attitude. Of how she practically given up on herself. But another part of myself still remembers her as a loving caring mother who tried her best but got crushed under the pressure. And another feels guilt. I want to believe that if I had acted sooner... perhaps I could have saved her.

@@TimberlakeTigerGirl perhaps that can explain the empathy and the affection I have for Hatice. Granted, many of the things she said and done, find me at odds with. And there are sometimes that I wish I could smack her at the back of her head and give her a piece of my mind.
But I just can't see her as an evil person. Pained, confused, naive, crushed under the circumstances sure. But not evil

Losing love must be very hard. For Hurrem, love was also the meaning of all life. As she said, if there is no love, then Hurrem is not. And she was ready to die, even if Suleiman just stopped loving her. Love is a lot. True love is not only and not so much joy and happiness as experience, anxiety, fear of loss, pain and suffering. Kesem said that after the death of Ahmed, she realized that love is also death.

What i don't understand is how she still loves Ibrahim despite he threatened regarding her own brother throne, acting as if ibrahim is the most powerful one, cheated on her to the point having a kid with his mistress and lied to her face so many times.
That is not love. That's just pure foolishness.
She wishes for day dream-like love fantasy relationship when she's been told that dream its over already after she 'humiliated' Ibrahim for him not serving the Dynasty properly, striking his ego as a husband and her partner.
But honestly, all of the women in this series suffer alot from their SO unfaithfulness despite how these women have everything and gave them everything.
N yet the men still cheated and make them cried alot even knowing what they did will only hurt their loved ones.
