Great song and reaction. I first heard Nightwish with a previous singer, Tarja. At the time, they didn't stick in my playlists because, to me, I had the feeling of disjointedness. I got back into Nightwish with Floor and she does feel like their perfect fit. Again, my OPINION.
What I like especially were the last two thirds, from the background color change and Floor's oohs and aahs to the end crescendo with he band just rocking it out with gusto. Just when you thought they couldn't step it a notch up, they just did. Floor of course steals the show, as is proper. An honorable mention goes to Troy with his Irish bouzouki, which cuts through the firm basis of the bass and the rhythm guitar and gives the song a refreshing and textured foreground sound.
I loved to see the band just enjoy playing their music. It's a joy to watch someone do what they love and they clearly love to be a part of the band together.
This is one of my favorite songs!!! She is magnificent! I wasn’t a fan with Tarja and missed Annete completely. Then I heard Ghost Love Score with Floor and I was hooked. Welcome to the Nightwish Army!!!
This song has a special place in my heart!!! Not just because wolf is Estonian national animal but the windmill battle between Tuomas and Floor .... Plus, Floor's inner Wolf Howl !!! holy mother of Odin!!! Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish) Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course, with a synth you can do a lot. PLUS!!!! Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging (straight forward, then back), hair whip (almost like cracking a bull whip) and the Windmill (continuous 360-degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well, she is Dutch. I have seen this song Live in my home country Estonia, all though it was without Marko (Marko left the band, but now we have a new Bass Player Jukka "Gentle Giant" Koskinen), but Troy really steps up and harmonizes with Floor like never before. Still getting goosebumps, even if I write in here. Troy Donockley "The Bard" (is an English composer and multi-instrumentalist most known for his playing of Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, pump organ, bouzouki, cittern, bodhrán, mandola, harmonium, aerophone). And that Emppu solo... He just teases you with that (just look at that grin he is making). The title is taken from a King's novel called “Wolves of the Calla”. But the conception of the book has nothing to do with the text behind the song, it is far more inspired by the film "Dead Poets' Society". The main idea is - one must live his life the best he can, to strive for his aims, because the wolves are always 7 days behind you and they will catch you if your life is not of full value... and then you will be only dead meat. That's what Tuomas said in one interview some time ago. Howl and thank you!!! NWSU 🤘🐺🤘.
It's from the 2007 album Dark Passion Olay when Anette was the lead. Marco in that version was clearly holding back in is much more prominent with Floor. But then he is a lead singer himself... This is one of Floor's favourites and you can see it here. It's on the setlist for the current tour for that reason. My No 3 favourite.
The title is inspired by the Stephen King Book, Wolves of Calla. The song itself is telling you to go out and live your life the best you can, as the 'wolves' are only 7 days behind you. Troy's Irish Bouzouki is a relative of the Mandola. Original singer Tarja Turunen is worth checking out too. Try The Siren, Wishmaster, Sleeping Sun, Wish I Had An Angel, or their cover of Phantom of the Opera . All from 2005 Helsinki (End of an Era). For more Floor, Storytime, Song of Myself, Everdream.(all Wacken)
I first found Nightwish during lockdown and it was the Wacken 2013 performance of Ghost Love Score. Totally bowled over by the whole band but Floor was magnificent. Listened to every song at this concert and kept seeing comments regarding the previous two singers. Tarja is an accomplished singer and featured on the first five albums which were obviously written for her more operatic style. The second singer Anette completely different as quite poppy and the next two albums more suited to her voice.
If you are impressed by her voice (like me), why not also diving in other Floor music? Her previous bands were After Forever and Revamp, lots of great songs and always that great voice. And visit her YT channel with her own songs, covers and typical Floor videos. You will not regret it!👸
@@JustJmax oh, awesome (figured, should have checked first ;) I'll take a look, can't wait for Storytime, Ever Dream, etc, etc Wacken concert is golden!
Toumas will be known 500 years from now……..Floor is equally amazing…… I love this song……… everyone cuts loose……. Troy……… Emmpu……. And I’m so about Marco …….
What did you think of this song? What other songs/artists should I check out?

Floor is the only one who gives me goosebumps.
