Wikipedia is not perfect, but for general information on pretty much anything, it's a great resource, and I do believe they do a good job of trying to keep it as accurate as possible. However, no, it's not a resource that I would use exclusively if I was looking for something important that getting inaccurate information on could be consequential. But as a general resource for most things, it's fine.

I think the very skillful thing Tim does with this piece is that he's playing a character to some extent. He is making some excellent points, but in the narrative he is also blind drunk and undeniably being kind of a dick at a dinner party. This helps it go down a little easier for more spiritually-inclined audience members, because he's kinda playing the villain.

Cherry-picking Bible verses to legitimize your prior-existing hatreds and bigotry and such is a long-standing, widespread but not-usually-acknowledged practice. So, what's your problem?

i made the bad choice of watching this special while in a very deep depression. i sobbed through a lot of it.

to me it's knowing that the direction we're going, we're screwed, but nobody seems to care because there are so many things to distract ourselves with.

He was Jewish and some of the words come from his Jewishness. He suffered from severe depression. He knew he was dying and at the end he fell out of bed and died. You need to listen to his music many many times, but listen to Hallelujah. He wa poet, song writer and a genius.. He was the genuine thing, an artist of the highest level. I’m an atheist but I think prayer can be very helpful. It’s a space to consciously work through your emotions, to clarify your hopes for your future, to reflect with empathy on others needs / hurts. It’s like sex. Anyone can do the deed, but good sex requires more intent. So does prayer.

I was converted to atheism by a Christian trying to convert me to Christianity. Listening to them explain how they interpret particularly popular Bible stories was just a lesson in Occam's razor and other major fallacies. Quite simply put it just doesn't make any sense and if you ever say that you just don't know how something happened you cannot answer it with God stuff done it as an explanation That's cheating and an argument from incredulity. It would be better to just keep your beliefs to your own self.

If you aren't aware of other religions/faiths/sects also venerating humans as either gods or close to gods, then you should google the Dalai Lama, the Emperor of Japan, the North Korean Kim family, etc. They are all considered Gods or reincarnations of such, and despite the nonsense and silliness of it all, millions (yes, millions!) of supposedly "normal" human beings believe it with all their heart. And are willing to live their lives and force others to also live their lives as the venerated holy leader demands.

Exercise is not something you have to go somewhere to do. You can go the long way, park further away, run up and down the steps, walk your dog, walk rather than take a lift/elevator. An australian lady walked around her clothesline in her backyard, speed walking, worked up to jogging it, then running, then around her house. After all that she took on her block. If you didn't walk far in ages, you may get woozy, get some electroytes. It's easier to collapse safely, if you didn't actually go anywhere. Get some weights, can be a can of something, a bag of rice, or 2 taped together, or a water bottle or 2, don't drink them until you are finished exercising. Different sizes are differing weights. Put some weight on your ankles and walk? Exercise while at your desk, do push ups in your chair, walk around your desk to pick up photocopies? Have a couple of mouthfuls of plain water every 20 mins or so, for your kidneys to work well. Exercise in front of the telly, try cycling in the air, lift your legs up, punch the air or walk circles around your couch. Watch a few physio doc guys on the tube? and learn what is good for folk or best left out. Have fun with it, dance? Get moving and it will be easier to go jogging, or to the gym later. Do star jumps, skip rope. Learn some warm ups to start and warm downs to end with. Get some help to do more complex moves safely. Do bigger workouts when there is someone around, to get help if you need it. Start once a week and build up. Get an elastic exercise band... find out how they work first. All the best.
