I just love Lawrence & have listened to them for the last year. A number of their backup singers are actually friends of theirs that they went to school with & grew up with in New York. The one with the deep bass voice is Clyde and Gracie‘s younger brother, Linus.
In some ways, I actually like Gracie's voice in this even more than in Don't Lose Sight. We get a more delicate emotive portion of the song with her, not just the speaker blowing part (which we still get).
There are so many great Lawrence songs! Cover wise, I love Get Busy or It's Gonna Be Me. In terms of originals (past what you've already seen), I love It's Not All About You or Freckles.
My daughter (17) just told me Lawrence is just now blowing up on TikTok….but everyone is hating on them saying they’re only good because of nepotism. Right. Okay. If that’s the case the very people trashing Lawrence should be able to sing better.
So, when I am asked to recommend Lawrence songs, my mind goes blank because they’re ALL incredible. Luckily, they did a three-night residency in Brooklyn called Staycation back in November where they played almost their entire discography and someone in attendance was kind enough to record the whole thing and post it on RUclips, so I linked that playlist below. I particularly enjoy the “Stacy’s Mom” cover from night 2, but, again, it’s all incredible. Favorites not played during Staycation include the hauntingly beautiful Thoughts from the ER (Silver Lining) and Figure It Out (A Song Between Siblings) which samples all of the songs from the album it is on-which includes both “Don’t Lose Sight” and “The Weather” (which is actually pretty incredible not acoustic/gospel too, just sayin’.) in the end. m.ruclips.net/p/PLQMx5iuMb5u5lwMmaqc7gbqw8IUKezAQD

Lawrence is an amazing group! Clyde does not get enough appreciation for how good he is on the keys.
You have the most evocative grunts. It's great!

Yay more Lawrence!
I love Lawrence, which brought me here, but I really like your reactions, so I'm subscribing :)
Great song. Great voices. This takes me back to when I was a bass player for a church I attended long ago.

It's been mentioned many times, and I agree that Clyde sounds like he took lessons from Randy Newman... or is related to him, or both.

Do "I'm Confident that I'm Insecure" thanks
Clyde sounds a lot like Joe Cocker.
Clyde has major Sam Cooke vibes, imo.
