Thanks very much for watching! Yeah I couldn't find too many videos on this awesome rifle, so I thought I'd put something out! I'll be shooting this one more in the spring for sure, got some steal plates for it already. Stay tuned! :)
Good Job Lu Ran! I hope you have a Great Time with your Savage 110 Hog Hunter. I have the 111 Hog Hunter which has A Blind Magazine ( No Floor-Plate) and I love It!
I have one in .350 legend. Got because it has factory iron sights. We can deer hunt with straight wall rifle cartridges in Iowa. I absolutely love mine. My 12 year old son took his first deer with it last fall. It’s has been a highly accurate rifle for us. Thank you for the video.
That is amazing!! Awesome!! Congrats to your son for his first deer!! Thanks very much, glad you liked the video! Hopefully I'll get out for some plate shooting with it this summer and take a deer with this rifle this fall as well!
Good video…I bought one of these couple years ago, I find it a little front heavy due to its heavier barrel, but it is short and handy. I scoped mine with a leupold 1-4 , it will shoot sub one inch at 100 with TTSX 130 hand loads. Decent rifle for the price.
That's awesome!! Savage does a good job with their pricing. This was the best value available for my area close to a conpact scout rifle. Can't wait to hunt with it this fall!!
@@LuRanOutdoors you likely have a load already worked out already.. fyi, I also shot the 150 and 165 gr Federal fusion out of the hog hunter , very accurate and bonded together very well shot into wet cardboard and water jugs! Cheers from 🇨🇦
I have an older Savage 11 with irons also but the sights are plastic which I don't like too much. Are these hog hunter sights metal or plastic? I have heard that they are Williams sights, but not sure if that is the case or if savage just makes their own.
Hey there, compared to the tikka t3x lite, which would you prefer? Looking to purchase my first rifle and it’s between the savage hog and the tikka lite. Don’t plan on doing any hunting just looking to have fun at the range
I got the hog hunter for it's short barrel and iron sight for hunting deer in the bush. If you are mainly going to the range, can't go wrong with the Tikka!
I think it's definitely worth getting another, as they made some improvements to the stock now and added the accu fit. Also added the removable mag from the older models. Quite a handy hidden gem of a rifle now!!
No sure what you are unsure about. But this iron sight has a dot in the front of the barrel and a notch at the back. You line up the dot and the notch at your target to shoot at the target.
@michaelwhite8314 oh you can adjust the back sight up and down as well as left and right. I don't think I did anything in the front, much easier to just adjust the back
Picked one up at academy about 6 years ago to check it out and immediately noticed how flimsy the stock was. Just felt cheap ass hell. Hopefully they stiffened it up a bit.
Just adj right lil bit. Why leave it almost dead on? Why not just make it dead on? Never understood that train of 🤔. I guess I'm just old-school It's gota stack 3 within 3/4 at 100 yards and it's gota be dead on.
That's great sir!! I was just trying to save ammo to be honest. It isn't cheap here in Canada. Everything's gone up in price like crazy in the past couple of years...
Hey thabjs for the comment. They actually have accustock now. The one you saw in this video has the accustock. Think savage updated the stock for the 110 hog hunter in recent years. The accustock is definitely a great addition. They also added a removable mag too!!
I really like the simplicity and reliability of the bolt action, and the biggest factor is the affordability of 308win ammo. But I would love a 30-30 for sure... maybe one day!! Thanks so much for commenting!!!
Haha no worries, I don't remember if I also said mag in the video later or not. But I realize that bugs people and I knew I said it wrong right after too, but just rolled with it. But you are right. Think someone else also commented the same. Anyways, I'll try to remember to say the right term next time. It's hard sometimes in front the camera, I forget my words a lot. Lol
Why your bolt is tight when loading and unloading is because the chamber needs re-reamed mine did same thing when I bought mine so I sent it back to Savage and they re-reamed the chamber and now its not tight and hard to turn so you might want to contact Savage if your warranty is still good and they will fix it for free, it took about 2 weeks turn around time and I had it back.
I like it. There aren’t too many videos about this rifle on RUclips

@llkj7944 oh that's good to know, thanks!! I tested with the 150 gr federal whitetail non typical, and they were pretty good!
NIce looking rifle, good luck with it

they are steel iron sights. Not sure what brand tho...

if you are looking to buy your first rifle, I'd recommend the Tikka and get the limbsaver pad to soften the recoil.

@ozada7585 right on!!!!
How do you like the open sights??
I quite like them! Great for close encounters with deer. Very accurate as well. If I had to nitpick, I'd wish it was illuminated.
Good video
Thanks very much!!
Hey question for ya can u explain better how the iron sights work kinda confused about it still
No sure what you are unsure about. But this iron sight has a dot in the front of the barrel and a notch at the back. You line up the dot and the notch at your target to shoot at the target.
I’m talking about sighting it in like did u move the front sight down or up and did u move it too the left and right?
And also what size Allen wrench u use
@michaelwhite8314 oh you can adjust the back sight up and down as well as left and right. I don't think I did anything in the front, much easier to just adjust the back
@michaelwhite8314 it's a pretty small wrench, I'll have to check again sorry I don't remember the exact size.
Good rifle but I hate DBMs in bolt guns!
Hey thanks for commenting! Sorry, what does DBM stand for?
@@LuRanOutdoors Detachable box magazine
@andrewbarton2 oh haha. Really? Why? That was one of my must have features. As my main use for this rifle is for big game hunting.
@@LuRanOutdoors I like to top up. If the box is double row like an M14 or FAL it might work.
@@andrewbarton2 oh gottacha.. fair enough!! I think the older hog hunters did have top load!
Picked one up at academy about 6 years ago to check it out and immediately noticed how flimsy the stock was. Just felt cheap ass hell. Hopefully they stiffened it up a bit.
Oh really? I haven't noticed that, seems pretty good to me. They did change up the stock and added in the accu fit style.
@@LuRanOutdoors It was an older model so if they put a accu stock on it it’s probably a solid rifle now.
@Pays2Win so far so good! Only complaint I have is the action not as smooth as I like. But I put on some lubricant and it's better now.
Good to hear. I may just have to save up for one. Thanks.
@Pays2Win for sure man! Definitely a handy rifle to have!!
What is that Vortex chest rig you’re wearing?
I can't remember the name exactly. But if you search on cabelas or bass pro site you should find it.
