    So I tried following along this patch - honestly in past I’ve not had much success following (feel like RUclipsrs should get a friend who never tried the synth and know almost nothing and see if they can follow the video ) with other people BUT OMG!! I’ve had so much fun and learned so much. It was incredibly helpful that you explained to sequence you were using and I could see each dial. The pacing meant I had time to make adjustments. And YES I got those sounds I was actually intimidated at one point and couldn’t believe it was my synth and not yours making that beautiful mix. Next I remembered I have an Empress Reverb Pedal for my guitar , it felt like cheating plugging it into Matriarch but in your last response you mentioned allowing the Matriarch to shine by adding effects and it really DID too.
    This is the first time I’ve patched and felt like I was understanding the process as I was going along using all the parts of my Matriarch then removing and adding without feeling overwhelmed or loosing control. Thank you so much for this - the bonus for me is I think I could now reproduce this sound on my own because I get what’s going on . Ie I actually learned lots from this not just making cool sounds.

    Everytime I hear someone REALLY dive into the Matriarch i'm re-convinced it may be one of the most special instruments of all time, and that it's actually a bargain even at it's high retail price. Well done, convinced me again I need to save for one of these.

      It's a pretty great instrument. I'll admit the paraphonic as opposed to polyphonic sometimes leaves me wanting more... But that's the only thing I really struggle with. It definitely has a lot of personality and is really fun to play. The keybed feels really good too.

      @@braintree56 Just revisited this patch having "devoured" full series of Matriarch videos. I got so much more out of it, understanding exactly what I was doing and had ideas to develop in my own direction. One observation re the Matriarch compared to my other synths (M32, DFAM and other regular keyboards & modules) is that the output is very low. It is clear when comparing with yours and other videos. Any thoughts? Thanks for all your great work! Mike

      Awesome! Glad you liked it. For reverb, I likely added some post processing using a plug-in (Valhalla Vintageverb is my current favorite). As you mentioned in another comment - I think it's important to show the sound without any external gear because we all have different stuff. But at the same time, adding effects to Synths is also really important and a critical piece of the sound, so I think it's important to show what it would sound like in a more polished state! • @braintree56
      @braintree56  Год назад

      Yeah, it's so hard to exactly replicate stuff like this. I remember when I was first learning the Matriarch, I tried so hard to match Patchbooks and follow videos exactly. Tiny differences and adjustments can have large impacts. The best advice I can give is to use videos like these as starting places rather than end goals. Try to focus on the concepts - like how the sample and hold works, etc.
      But... With all that said. Some of the adjustments that might help really dial this in - try playing with the tuning of the Oscillators. Also try playing with the delay settings. Remember that analog Synths are different and that yours might need to be in a slightly different position...
      Hopefully that helps! :)
