That was our first Transatlantic too. The Enchantment was a beautiful ship, and the crew was amazing. We loved it so much that we booked two more TA's since we've been home. 😃
I like your thinking. We haven't booked yet but we too are looking at a few transatlantic cruises right now. Agree! The Enchantment is a beautiful ship and all of the crew were super friendly. So many good memories from this cruise.
Thanks for sharing your transatlantic cruise experience. I enjoyed this video very much. I’ll be on a TA from Ft Lauderdale to Europe with HAL in April so your video helps as it will be my first TA cruise.
Thank you for your comment. We have cruised on Holland America's Nieuw Amsterdam several times and really enjoyed HAL. Beautiful, elegant ships. East Bounf transatlantic might be a little different. Sea days will most likely be 23-hour days rather than the 25-hour days traveling westbound. The sea may not be as rough but still best to be prepared if you or anyone in your party gets motion sickness. Enjoy your cruise! BTW, noticed your RUclips name "Love Canada Geese". We live near Jack Minor's in Kingsville which is a large migration stop for Canada geese. We have already seen some Canada geese return early this year.
I’ve always wanted to visit the Jack Miner Bird sanctuary. Hopefully one day. It’s very early for geese to return. We usually don’t see them until late march here.
Just booked a Transatlantic and we are very nervous. I have watched several videos but this one has calmed my fears. Thank you for sharing your experience!
I work on a private yacht and 6 days doing nothing and having fun is NOTHING, when we spend 3 months working, with one day off a week if we are lucky. I had so much fun from Barcelona to Rio. Specially in December when we run from the cold weather.
We did this Explorer Miami to Barcelona in April, (and stayed on all the way to Venice). We didn’t have interesting lecture people at all. Yours looked much better. Dance lessons were just a couple who liked to dance. Smoothest cruise ever. Such calm seas all the way. Doing Ovation next spring NJ to Rome, (and staying on another 7 days to go to Greece), and Barcelona to Boston on the Brilliance next fall, with stops in Iceland and Greenland.
WOW, some nice TA cruises you have planned there. We are booked on two transatlantic cruises this fall. On the Adventure Of The Seas in October from Port Canaveral to Lisbon (a rare eastbound cruise in the fall) and 4 days later we leave from Barcelona back to Port Canaveral on Voyager Of The Seas. I made a short itinerary video which can be seen here. ruclips.net/video/XQHPqil18sA/видео.html Gary
@@PackingOurSuitcases we loved Tenerife and Malaga. Tenerife we rented a car and rove up into the mountains. Be sure you get this coffee drink called a Bon Bom I think. It was a layer of sweetened condensed milk. Layer of liquor, layer of espresso, layer of foam. I wish I could send you a picture. We got it at a little sidewalk cafe near the Santa Maria ship monument. Malaga is also beautiful. You will enjoy both. Bon voyage.
Great video. I happened to also do a Transatlantic cruise onboard the Enchantment of the Seas. However, mine was Eastbound from Bayonne, New Jersey to eventually, Civitavecchia (Rome) Italy. And, I LOVED every minute of it (as it seems you also loved your cruise). We left New Jersey April 30th and had some pretty rough seas for the first 5 or so days. The only thing I didn't like, was that for the 6 time changes, we LOST an hour for 6 days. So, that part wasn't the greatest, but our total cruise was 15-nights, so I guess we both worked out to having a 14 and a HALF day cruise, since you gained a half day and I lost a half day. Like you said, our cruise was WAY cheaper than our 1-way flight home. PLUS, they fed us LOTS of great food for 15 days on the cruise portion! So, next time, I think I would fly to Europe and then cruise the WESTBOUND leg back to the US. Thanks again.
Hey Patrick, Thank you for watching the video and for your comments. We really enjoyed our time on the Enchantment of The Seas and actually looked for another date to cruise on her. Hopefully someday again. East bound transatlantics do appear to be a bit different. The 23 hour days might take some getting used to. We loved the west bound 25 hour days at sea. That being said, we are planning a couple transatlantics this fall. A rare east bound transatlantic to Lisbon then back to North America on a west bound transatlantic. Lots of sea days. Cheers! Gary
This was last fall, November 2023. We are sailing on a couple transatlantics again this fall. One east to west from the USA to Lisbon and then returning from Barcelona to the USA shortly after. It will be interesting to see how east to west transatlantic cruises are.
This is what I plan to do in a few years, take a cruise over and a cruise back from Europe. I have the time and if I were to fly, I would want to go first class and cruises are the same price or less than first class tickets.
I'm not sure they normally have cruises to Europe in the fall. Usually fall transatlantic cruises head west to North America and in the Spring head east from NorthAmerica to Europe.
@@PackingOurSuitcases I was talking about going in the summer. The Queen Mary 2 sails back and forth when the weather is nice. There are a couple of ships that go back and forth and not just reposition, like the Disney cruise line does.
I have done many transatlantic crossings and am not afraid of telling people that 6 days at sea is NOTHING! Strangely many Americans do not realise that the 100 footlong Mayflower took 66 days.
The best 6 days of the cruise in my opinion. We enjoy the sea days more than port days. Going on a couple transatlantic cruises this fall. Both have 7 full days at sea. Looking forward to this!
Did anyone do a review of a TA on a Carnival ship ? I am doing the Rome or Tampa one this fall. I ‘ve watched several videos of TA on other cruise lines, but not Carnival.
Im taking HAL Nieuw Statendam from Rome to Ft. Lauderdale this November. Youre right couldnt beat the one way airfare and cost to come back. Whatvare the top 3 things you would chsnge/bring/do differently fornyour next one?
We have been on HAL Nieuw Amsterdam several times in the Caribbean, it is still one of of favourite ships. We enjoyed our transatlantic cruise on the Enchantment of The Seas so much that we will be doing two Atlantic crossings this fall. One, a rare west bound cruise from Florida to Lisbon, Portugal and five days later we will return home on another transatlantic from Barcelona. No long flights at all this time. I can't think of anything we would or will change.
@@harveyfreedman7146 Very nice. I believe that this transatlantic is sold out. Some nice ports you will visit. We liked Malaga (went to Rhonda with a small group) and Ponta Delgada was a beautiful island. Here is a video of our port stop in the Azores. ruclips.net/video/Rw7BMFd5YZw/видео.html

Different cruise line, but I'm doing the same route in November - I can't wait!!
What cruise line.? We are going Holland American, Statendam
You guys are so sweet, thank you so much. Great video! We might get on our transatlantic with MSC at the end of October from Europe to Barcelona. :)
It's comments like yours that make us so happy. We have been on the MSC Meraviglia. Beautiful ship. Enjoy your transatlantic cruise!
Thank you. Many answers to questions I had on a transatlantic cruise.
