That’s funny, but I think the point was even our kids can be addicted. Better to be unplugged from a tool than to be plugged into an addicted. We entertain ourselves to death. Isn’t it a prediction of how Jen Z is so stuck on their phone many of them can’t even interact with each other and are letting “fact” checkers tell them what reality is rather then knowing how to go to a primary source and figure out what reality is for themselves by humility and seeking the truth rather then being trained by the idiot tube or their dumb phone? My millennial self can even fall into these traps.

Christian fundamentalism was the scapegoat of the past, like how some people are saying that liberals of the past "changed" but the reality is they never changed and the seductive fad of demoralization has always been around.
My parents were generally pretty chill about video games. I wasn’t allowed to play GTA and stuff like that but I was allowed to play plenty of other stuff.

Being a kid in the 80s I feel this. I remember all this crap scaring my parents into thinking She-Ra, DND, and Nintendo were going to lead to demonic possession or something.
I remember being told that "The force" in Star Wars was actually satanic and that we shouldn't watch the Star Wars movies. With the new Star Wars movies, I would have no problem skipping them BUT this was the originals and no one was going to take away my Star Wars movies!

What was really odd was that I thought that was gone by the late 90s but my uncle who was a pastor took my dad (who was now a pastor) and I to a conference and the entire thing turned into getting rid of evil in the church like women in jeans, DND and video games.. *facepalm

During one of my Bible studies in college, we were asked who had read through the whole Bible, and only the three of us who watched anime/were gamers had done it. I took a mental note, because we'll take those wins where we can B)

You three were probably the more introverted in the room. Introverts tend to read more and spend less time with people. (I'm an introvert by the way and I have read the whole bible, and I'm not a gamer, nor have I ever watched anime, etc).
Reading it through yearly has been a goal of mine for about the last 10 years. Before that I had read all the books of the Bible but reading it through within a year with a plan really helped me see how the parts dovetailed with one another and you can see the Holy Spirit’s guidance sewing the themes together from beginning to the end. I pray that you find God’s word as wondrous as I have.

Yeah but war doesn't confuse kids about the difference between fiction and reality. Children need to put down the controller and read about Jonah and the Whale, Noah's Ark, the Burning Bush and other documentaries so they know what's real. 😂
Slurs are not sinful. Didn't Christ refer to the Canaanite woman as a dog? The term "samaritan" is a slur.
Sadly in war we tend to dehumanize our foes, partly as a coping mechanism for how we cope with hunting and killing our brothers and sisters. Slurs are pretty much universal, especially during war.

He said it was not correct for him to give the children’s bread to the dogs which is him describing the focus of his ministry. A perhaps more apt example for you is when he called the Pharisees ‘blind guides’ and ‘whitewashed sepulchers’, but that is him describing their moral character not a slur. In short, Jesus didn’t employ racial slurs at any point.

I feel cheated that my church days were never this exciting growing up. The closest I ever got was my mom asking our pastor how there are dinosaur fossils when the earth is only 6,000 years old and him saying that God put them there to test our faith.

There are many questions that can be asked. Who said the Earth was 6000 years old? Who dwelt in the abodes Jeremiah saw in the vision he was shown of the earth before man dwelt on the earth? When was Satan cast down like lightening? How do we know it was a meteor that struck the earth and ushered in the ice age? Why did God command Adam and Eve to Replenish the earth... if it was the first time being populated? In Hebrew, I understand Gen1:1 can equally say "The earth became void and desolate." It might explain how His spirit could be over the waters before calling forth light. I don't think the Bible contradicts history at all. I think people who were never there make a good many assumptions about what it HAD to be.
I honestly despise that answer to that question. if people read Job more often, they'd realize the Bible sheds some light

1st sermon: It's a well-documented fact that Atheism never existed until video games were invented.
Pong is just a recruitment tool of Atheism: an interactive representation of the struggle between faith and non-faith, priming the players' minds to bounce back-and-forth with their faith, only to inevitably fail to catch it and have their faith fly right (or left) out-of-bounds.

The attacks on video games have always annoyed me. Like video games are the only form of entertainment that are a waste of time. And I’m a Christian.
Oh, and the Pokémon thing is an absolute classic.
I'm a Christian as well and I am just absolutely awestruck by that whole debacle. Video games are video games, and that's all they are is just for entertainment as you said.
That Pokemon one is a great one, as someone who has played since red and blue and still plays to this day, just having purchased Pokemon Arceus.

@@Randomowl1 yes, very much. It has its moments but it's been enjoyable so far.
I enjoy sneaking around and catching Pokemon off guard, ruining their peaceful days with either catching them or a battle, LOL!
The game has a few rough spots, but it's definitely a move in the right direction for the series.
Some of my old habits keep creeping up, LOL! Like battling Pokemon to catch them, don't really have to do that and can try to catch them out of battle, unless they become aggressive.
Personally I'm only about five hours and just got to the second area. They say it's a 40-hour game, so for me that means about 200 hrs.
There are side quests, that are basically research or catching a specific Pokemon for someone. So it seems to want to avoid being a fetch it Quest as some of them I had already.
But personally, I'd give it an 8.5 or 9/10 easily.

As a Pokemon fan and avid Christian, the "Christian" attacks against the game were always so hilarious to me. Like "Pikachu's tail is shaped like a demonic symbol!" and I'm just over here like "Sir, that is a lightning bolt."
And the funny thing is, Pokemon came about from the Creator's love of nature. And his old childhood memories.
So, are they saying saying nature is demonic, lol.
And I'm also a Christian / Pokemon fan. been playing since red and blue, and Scyther/Scizor is my favorite Pokemon followed by Weavile, Gallade and Garchomp

@@DravenWolfe Didn't know about the inspiration being love of nature, but that makes a lot of sense. I always loved Pokemon because I loved animals and magical creatures, and Pokemon are basically just magical animals.
I'm playing Arceus too! Lugia is my favorite Pokemon ever, but Gallade and Garchomp are both high on my list! I haven't met that many people who love Gallade; I think he's awesome

I love pairing him with Gardevoir, sincr she now has the psychic/fairy typing.
But he's typically my starter Pokemon in battles, him or Scizor.

Someone actually tried to trade me a .45 gun for my pack of vintage cards (I declined). I don't care much for fundamentalist Christian extremes either, though there is usually a bit of truth in what they say (and, yes, I'm Christian).

Arceus is really fun and I personally been enjoying it. It's fun to run around and just throw balls at Pokemon or battle them.
A little Starly is enjoying his sunny day, then suddenly I throw out a shinx and it's day, LOL!
They say the game is about 40 hours long, which for me translates to 300 hrs because I'm too busy exploring and Gathering resources, LOL!

The preacher with the TV was Pastor Larry Brown out of Marion Avenue Baptist Church in Washington, Iowa. Hes an evangelist now. He preached that message to a crowd of 12,000 plus at the 2012 Pastor's School. You can watch the full sermon on RUclips. He is a very kind and humble man in person.
The pastor smashing the TV and acting like a psychopath was such an odd yet perfect mix of hyper-conservative IFB preaching with mega-church over-the-top theatrical click-garnering shenanigans.

Side note: I went to school with Pastor Hagee's son, and went to Cornerstone to hear a few sermons. That guy is a snake-oil salesman par excellence, but an incredibly persuasive speaker. Makes me sad knowing how many good but not terrible astute people are being led astray by that charlatan.

Preacher said this singer was probably 'the gateway' to hell and could release the dragon, as the devil is called in the book of revelations, because he had a dragon tattoo somewhere on his body. 🤦♀️

This clip just highlights the problem we have in modern churches, pastors who are not anointed by the Holy Spirit or called to ministry. They should have read the bible more so they would see how dangerous of a game they are playing. It's more dangerous than Pokémon! The first clip had me laughing. I literally listen to the bible on audio book while I play video games. I was playing Valheim sailing in a thunderstorm and the book of revelation started being read and it freaked me right out hahaha. I listen to the dramatized version so it has thunder and trumpets and stuff like that in there. Really cool experience honestly. That first pastor is missing out lol. Second pastor could have lost his eyes during that stunt. Haha the girl at 2:55 "what the heck is this guy talking about, life isn't like that"
