  • Being traumatized by my brother's father for most of my childhood gifted me the ability to succeed in my athletic career.
It resulted in tricks like this and being the only one to land them or pull them off first.
This trick is only possible with the use of front brakes to stop the rotation of the front tire.
If you don't stop the front tire from rotating,
the handlebars spin during the 360,
which is not what you want to occur!
This trick requires immense focus on:
    - the timing of pulling the front brake
    - the accuracy of getting your hands back on the handlebars
    - the confidence to kick the bike's back end around before you land.
I had a few "feelers" of just the 360 no-hander before I committed to the tailwhip at the end of the trick.
These "feelers" can be seen as preparation and
a part of regulating my focus.
BMX taught me the value of being able to regulate
my focus in high-pressure, stressful situations.
I grew up in a stressful household, living in survival mode for most of my childhood.
This upbringing gifted me 3 valuable skills we can all learn:
    - endure psychological and physical pain
    - regulate my focus on how I can improve my circumstances
    - adapt to new environments.
These skills apply to every aspect of life and are part of increasing your performance personally and professionally.
    Most people need help understanding
how to utilize or build these skills.
It's one of the first concepts my clients become aware of
and begin to direct their full attention to.
My clients start by letting their circumstances define them and their ability to experience their desired life.
They quickly learn how they can choose to shift
their focus to leverage adversity to their advantage
    by doing what most won't:
picking the harder, more empowered route of living "at cause" for how they respond to their circumstances.
We don't pick the hands we're dealt.
We do get to pick how we play those hands.
The people I work with learn the hand dealt isn't all that important when they know how to play that hand at the highest level.
This requires the skill of regulating your focus.
P.S. Regulating your focus is about more than just doing so every time perfectly. It's about directing your attention to what you can learn from stress and how to leverage it to your advantage.
