When I was a kid, my Dad took me to the store to buy a Game Boy Color just like my older brother had, and he let me pick a game to go with it as well. The choices were "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening" and "Godzilla: The Series". I chose the latter, which is one of those minor childhood regrets. I think I was too baffled to be disappointed. Even as a kid I was shocked they could make a Godzilla game as boring as this.
Hi MIB, yeah i can't defend this game at all, it's a bad game. I played this as a child just to burn time in the afternoon cause i was bored. The gameplay is painfully slow as Godzilla moves at a snails pace while dealing with annoying military and even the bosses is a snoozefest. The worst was the C-Rex level that takes way too long!!!! The second game "monster wars" is even worse as it's even more slower and harder!!!!! As someone who absolutely love the animated series, I don't recommend this one at all. Great video!!!
Can confirm, having never watched the show prior to playing the first game, I had almost zero idea what was happening in the game's "story"... but I can't hate it. While it moves at a glacial pace with somewhat uninspired boss fights and hardly any music to speak of, I hold a lot of nostalgia for it. There's something genuinely rewarding about hitting those tiny pixel tanks and planes enough times that you are actually rewarded with upgrades to your attacking moves, basically gaining experience for Godzilla for each enemy unit you take down. That, and Godzilla actually regenerating HP keeps things relatively stress free up until the last few levels. I really, really, *REALLY* cannot get into the Monster Wars sequel, though...
5:26 I know that Godzilla walked on the sea floor before, but would it really have been too much work to give Godzilla a swimming animation? That would at least make the visuals a little more interesting. Also, in the levels where Godzilla is walking in the water, it looks less like he's in the water and more like he's walking in front of a painted background. I guess they couldn't be bothered putting effort into changing up the levels or making Godzilla look like he's actually there.
Oh look, he DOES know the existence of AVGN! Then again, who doesn't at this point? Also, fun fact, I first discovered and got into James Rolfe, not by AVGN, but from his Godzilla videos
Great review, MIB! I used to play this game all the time as a kid because I had a Game Boy Color and it was the only Godzilla game I owned. I may have some nostalgia for this game (particular the opening cut scene), but I have absolutely no interest in playing it again. Once I got a Game Boy Advance and Godzilla: Domination, all my time was spent playing that instead. Such a fun game!
I'm glad you brought up the sequel and how it's actually worse; can't wait to see that video. It's the same game but they made the controls even worse. The first one is stupid easy but the second one is unplayably difficult because of the broken controls. Other than some occasionally good sprite work (and only occasionally), these games are pretty bad unfortunately. Also that's a really cool Tom Servo
OOF. Bless you for torturing yourself for us MIB. Great review! I’m definitely staying away from these. I feel like I’ll hear Godzilla’s footsteps if I’m within a 50 mile radius of these games lol
2:33 MIB reviews Godzilla: The Series: The Game… . . . THE END. 😂 (This review brought to you by Three Blue Balls 😁) Edit: 3:48 The font makes it look more like “Migel” than “Nigel”, can robots change nationality? 😄
Poor MIB. He really sounds he could use a nice cuppa tea and some cookies after this one. The last time I saw this much walking on screen at least Frodo and Sam made it to Mount Doom for crying out loud. *MIB makes LOTR joke* *Anime blink* Well damn, that's funny. Great minds think alike.
Funny thing, the animated series debuted the day before my 5th birthday, I did want to get this game many years ago when I had the opportunity to buy in store at a local mall but I didn't get it. Fast forward to when I was a high schooler and I watched gameplay of this game on RUclips. I am so glad I did not buy or play the game. On a side note, I did get to meet James Rolfe (AVGN) himself back in 2017 at Monstermania in New Jersey.
The graphics looks like that they’ve been drawn in MS Paint here. It’s crazy both King Kong and Godzilla got their own GB games based on the series. Crazy that how popular these shows were at the time.
God, this was my first Godzilla game I ever played. I remember hating it so much I ripped the sticker completely off (only for that to bite me in the ass when I kept forgetting what the blank cart was). It was also the very first game I ever traded in.
Yeah! I remember this game. I played it a lot and loved it as a kid but lost it. Haven’t played it in like 20 years or so, but I think MIB showed me why I shouldn’t play it as an adult.
I wish they would have done the Godzilla the series games like the 3 Godzilla games (Destroy All Monsters Melee, saved the Earth and Unleashed) they had enough monsters and locations to do an awesome fighting game
Since Triple Jump aren't the most reliable people, would you consider one day doing an "Every Godzilla game ranked from worst to best" video? I have a feeling you might really like the Commodore 64's The Movie Monster Game, coming to the Evercade as part of the Commodore 64 Collection!
I could never figure out how to use the atomic breath in Monster Wars--hope you figure it out! Not in the first game, only in the second... For some reason.
Know what this reminds me of? The first part of the Bartzilla level from The Simpsons: Bart's Nightmare. Only I can't decide if incredibly easy is better or worse than obnoxiously hard. Wonder if you're gonna take a look at that one. But I'm not surprised the Godzilla cartoon game is awful. The Men in Black the Series and Extreme Ghostbusters games are also real bad, and those Sony cartoon series all came out around the same time. Maybe by the same company, I forget.
I can't say I've played this game I've seen many gameplay videos about it and it looks boring like really boring which sucks because Godzilla The Series was really good
This is just a Bartzilla First stage part from The Simpsons Barts Nightmare on the sega Genesis/Super Nintendo just turned into a whole game that stage had no Music either too.
What’s even more sad is that Crawfish had made some seriously impressive ports of Street Fighter Alpha on GBC and the SFA3 Upper on GBA, as well as others.
Fun fact: there are actually TWO unaired seasons and you can get a disk collection of all four. I have this and its a shame that the other two didn't get aired. They were pretty dang gold d!
when you're playing these games you we're drinking, and angry about these games. So do we call you the angry Godzilla video game nerd, or the MIB angry video games?
This game was actually really frustrating to me as a kid. Mostly because I kept dying over and over to the final boss, and since I can't remember the passwords the game gives me for save states, I have to start ALL the way back to the beginning. I've lied to myself so much that I liked this game since I'm a big Godzilla fan. But no, I hated this game.
Just watching the gameplay makes mad because with the amount of creative kaiju and things in Godzilla The Series that could be adapted into a incredible 2D video game is insane, and yet it’s wasted on this!
I can see every complaint you have here. Having said that I loved this game as a child. It's souly nastolgia talking on this one. It was an actual factual Godzilla game, not just a game with a look a like as in Super Geon in King of the Monsters 2. And yeah 2 is do much worse. They removed the ground stomp so the many mini enemies are impossible to hit. Also speaking bang boom. That's what it looks like My Pet Monster is doing to Godzilla in the background.
I love how Andy was chilling in the background while MIB is raging over the this game. Andy so adorable.
Andy was slightly startled, but then resumed his nap. Sleepy little guy.
@@crimsondynamo615 LOL. He did. But then after that cut he went to lay down.😂
And he's delicious 😋.
True and He is a very good boy 🐶

I've just gotten back into Godzilla thanks to you. Have a great day MIB!!
Hi MIB, yeah i can't defend this game at all, it's a bad game. I played this as a child just to burn time in the afternoon cause i was bored. An homage to the AVGN in the opening? Hilarious! 😆
Played this one as a kid many times lol but yeah it's definitely a bad game no matter how you look at it, great video MIB.
Can confirm, having never watched the show prior to playing the first game, I had almost zero idea what was happening in the game's "story"... but I can't hate it. I guess they couldn't be bothered putting effort into changing up the levels or making Godzilla look like he's actually there.
It's like he's on a treadmill while the background scrolls.
And the monsters look like they had gigatons of crack.
Just why do the dolphins have a missile that look like a dick
Oh look, he DOES know the existence of AVGN! Then again, who doesn't at this point?
Also, fun fact, I first discovered and got into James Rolfe, not by AVGN, but from his Godzilla videos
Man I love this channel it’s what made me a Godzilla collector
Great review, MIB! I used to play this game all the time as a kid because I had a Game Boy Color and it was the only Godzilla game I owned. I may have some nostalgia for this game (particular the opening cut scene), but I have absolutely no interest in playing it again.

I always wanted to see a crossover between you and Avgn thought that would be awesome to see you two talk about Godzilla
I love zilla but I can agree this game isn’t that good and I love how Andy is just laying there waiting for MIB to pet him over and over again
I was thinking the same thing.
He’s the godzilliest gamer
You’ve ever heard! He’s the monster island buddie nerd!
A few more game reviews and MIB is going to be the next angry video game nerd XD
OOF. Bless you for torturing yourself for us MIB. Great review! I’m definitely staying away from these. I feel like I’ll hear Godzilla’s footsteps if I’m within a 50 mile radius of these games lol
2:33 MIB reviews Godzilla: The Series: The Game…

THE END. 😂
(This review brought to you by Three Blue Balls 😁)
Edit: 3:48 The font makes it look more like “Migel” than “Nigel”, can robots change nationality? 😄
Loved the AVGN reference ;)
9:47 Even Andy is bewildered by the lazy similarities of the games.
0:38 never gets old
Like how U started the AVGN theme & then cuts 2 intro.
"I've never seen a game where you had to blow up dolphins!"
Clearly MIB has never played Red Alert.
In the Japanese version of Super Mario World Yoshi is able to eat dolphins.
It's like they made a Game Boy Color game out of the Bartzilla section of Bart's Nightmare.
Andy sleeping is the best part here
Poor MIB. He really sounds he could use a nice cuppa tea and some cookies after this one.
The last time I saw this much walking on screen at least Frodo and Sam made it to Mount Doom for crying out loud.
*MIB makes LOTR joke*
*Anime blink*

Damn you, i now the avgn jingle is in my head again!!
(Not complaining though...)
Legend has it, Zilla’s footsteps could be heard around the world
The most agile Godzilla in existence and all he does in thw game is walk 💀
The graphics looks like that they’ve been drawn in MS Paint here. It’s crazy both King Kong and Godzilla got their own GB games based on the series. Crazy that how popular these shows were at the time.
Did MIB just take a jab at James Rolfe in the beginning…?👀
God, this was my first Godzilla game I ever played. I remember hating it so much I ripped the sticker completely off (only for that to bite me in the ass when I kept forgetting what the blank cart was). It was also the very first game I ever traded in.
2:35 lol I remember the kid MiB drawing story from one of your videos
I feel like I played this back when I was a kid. But I think I lost my Gameboy at some dojo. I just looks familiar.
Dammit, Nigel, even in a game you're bringing us all down!
Your dog is adorable
I really hope we can see Zilla in an actual proper Godzilla game someday.
This game has more walking than Planet of Dinosaurs.
Or any of the Lord of the Rings movies combined.
To be fair, dolphins are di**s, I'm sure the dolphin armed himself just to attack Godzilla.
Can we have a collab between MIB and AVGN?
Yeah! I remember this game. I played it a lot and loved it as a kid but lost it. Haven’t played it in like 20 years or so, but I think MIB showed me why I shouldn’t play it as an adult.
Godzilla's roar: 4:25
Lol it honestly kinda reminds me of that handheld tiger Godzilla game because of it's redundancy
The AVGN references man!
I love how your dog is just chilling next to you.
5:36 “I’ve never seen a game where you had to blow up Dolphins before!”
Give it a few years, another will come.
9:45 your reaction 😂
Godzilla Monster of Monsters’ cousin.
I love the homage to AVGN
Man the series was 🔥
The game tho 😬
Legend says that MIB still hears those Godzilla steps until this day 😂
WOOOO HONEY WAKE UP MONSTER ISLAND BUDDIES UPLOADED!
I kept expecting Tom Servo to chime in, riffing on the game as well. Missed opportunity!
You killed me the second you sang AVGN 😂👌🏽
This looks more like an early mobile game than a GB game.
Yo was that an Angry Video Game Nerd reference!!!
Just hearing you sing avgn, even for just a second, is like an Easter egg in a marvel movie.
There's a second gbc game.......
nice tom servo is it a puppet also what mst3k host is your favorate
I wish they would have done the Godzilla the series games like the 3 Godzilla games (Destroy All Monsters Melee, saved the Earth and Unleashed) they had enough monsters and locations to do an awesome fighting game
I love how you act like the angry video game nerd. You sound amazing and awesome
At least, like with most games by Crawfish Interactive, the animation is pretty good for a GBC game.
Hey MIB, I found out there was a forgotten game called "GODZILLA ONLINE". I discovered it thanks to yuotube.
You can’t avoid us forever
This makes me wish there was a Godzilla beat'em up.
Since Triple Jump aren't the most reliable people, would you consider one day doing an "Every Godzilla game ranked from worst to best" video? I have a feeling you might really like the Commodore 64's The Movie Monster Game, coming to the Evercade as part of the Commodore 64 Collection!

bam boom bam boom bam boom
Hey at least they kept the Nigel always dying gag.
Love that shit. XD
I can't say I've played this game I've seen many gameplay videos about it and it looks boring like really boring which sucks because Godzilla The Series was really good
Even as a kid I found this game boring and couldn't even play it for more than 3 seconds before switching it to something else
5:55 6:23 Someone behind Devil May Cry 2 took some notes, I see
This is just a Bartzilla First stage part from The Simpsons Barts Nightmare on the sega Genesis/Super Nintendo just turned into a whole game that stage had no Music either too.

It cannot be the second worst Godzilla console game because Gameboy isn't a console
_The More You Know_
It is considered a console by most. A handheld console is still a console.
Monster fights that are mainly projectile battles? It's the Heisei era all over again!
2 more days and then yes the Godzilla 2 nes is comming
Fun fact: there are actually TWO unaired seasons and you can get a disk collection of all four. I have this and its a shame that the other two didn't get aired. They were pretty dang gold d!
I said pretty dang d but I meant good
When is the Orga reviews series coming back, great video btw.
man this is nostalgic, i hated this game when i was a kid. i remember it being colorless for whatever reason tho
when you're playing these games you we're drinking, and angry about these games. So do we call you the angry Godzilla video game nerd, or the MIB angry video games?
“He’s the angriest gamer you ever-“ 0:38
Just discovered this guy today I'm loving it!
I just listened to the Avgn theme song before this
Oh This will be fun
So long and that's a lot of fish is underrated
MIB x Cinemassacre collab when

Evil Dolphins? Generation Tech will love this game.
They made Good 2000 in Dreamcast gameplay similar to this in the style walking only
I do like the animation for Godzilla. That immediately stuck out to me
Was getting serious avgn vibes from mib today
I don’t mind the idea of an auto-scroller Godzilla game but, yeah that looked really boring lol
Yay new video!
I can see every complaint you have here. Having said that I loved this game as a child. It's souly nastolgia talking on this one. Personally i loved this as a kid. Always played this at my aunts house. Trying to see how far i could get.
