Fun fact! The game is technically incomplete since Pipeworks was forced to rush the game in order to coincide with the release of Godzilla Final Wars. The story mode was supposed to be more extensive and have a subplot where the Vortek Queen disguised herself as a reporter so that she could steal Godzilla’s G-Cells for her nefarious reasons and there were plans to add more characters, like Biollante as you mentioned, but most of them where scrapped even before the game began production for various reasons. Also, there were going to be more bonus stages and levels to play, including one set in Vegas where (according to concept art) you could pick up the guitar of the Hard Rock Cafe Casino and smash it on the head of your enemy.
The guitar bit would be so cool. The final wars part makes sense since I remember when I played the game there was a section that had concept art of Godzilla Final Wars to promote the movie.
@@andrewdau1299 Ironically in the next game Monster X almost ended up in the game, only for the developers discovering that the game engine was barely able to handle its transformation into Kaiser Ghidorah and completely collapsed when two of them were in the game simultaneously.

Thank you, Godzilla: Save the Earth. From the bottom of my heart for being the most epic introduction to the franchise I could've asked for and making me the G-fan I am today.
Me too man. I always knew who Godzilla was based on the 98 film and my dad telling me "that's not really Godzilla". It wasnt until this game until I had a full appreciation for the franchise
To me, this is the holy grail of Godzilla games. To this day this is my favorite Godzilla game to ever come out, and I doubt something will ever top it
These days all the different characters would be DLC, with multiple skins, for added micro transactions, no offline multiplayer and barely any unique game modes
The weird thing about the games, is that they really show you how effective and innovative a SpaceGodzilla fight could have been in his movie. So many powers, so many things that could have been done. But no...the movie was rushed and we got a monster that just stood around most the time. And the game really did make Megalon and Orga have some new fans which is always a good thing.
Godzilla: Save the Earth was one of the first PS2 games, first Godzilla game, and the first video game I've ever played! This is one of my favorite games of all time!!!
I remember this so fondly, me and my brother got a ps2 for Christmas and this is one of the two games we got first for the system and we both played it for hours.
This game Godzilla DAM melee and Godzilla unleashed were my childhood. I remember unlocking king ghidorah before going to school and felt so much excitement. Easily one of my all time favorite video games
I remember as a kid I went to Blockbuster and rented a Fairy Odd Parents game on Xbox. When I got home and opened the case I was instead greeted with Godzilla Save the Earth. This is what introduced me to Godzilla and was the very start of the biggest and greatest obsession of my childhood. Now that I think about it, I wonder if the cashier put the game in there on purpose.
I still remember walking into my tiny middle of nowhere Gamestop, toddler son in tow, and trying these games out. It was a few more years before I owned any of them, but they were 100% worth the wait. Genuinely so much fun. Classic "easy to pick up, hard to master" games. Glad you finally felt like covering them. 😍
Hi MIB! THIS IS IT. *MY DEFINITIVE GODZILLA GAME!!!!!* This my first ps2 game for Christmas and boy it delivers!!!!! This is easily my favorite Godzilla game of all time I had so many fond memories playing this game with my brother so much, the disc took quite the beating that I'm happy it's still playable and holds up today!!!! GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!!
i actually liked cheeto i didnt know he was a joke i just liked his appearance picturing him as mib’s version of ghidorah instead of a annoying rival he’s his lovable partner
Hell yeah, this game was a huge part of my childhood. I still remember begging my mom to pick it up for me as an early Christmas gift and just looking at the box and reading the manual the whole ride home.
Fun fact for Biollante. She’s no where near as finished as the developer claimed. She’s missing a lot of moves she deals way too much damage to other monsters and sometimes will just outright crash the game when being played. Shame she wasn’t included. Because Godzilla unleashed was definitely not the ideal debut for our beloved plant monster
You know strangely, Baragon was meant to appear exclusively on the PS2 for the previous game but was canceled. Not to mention that Biollante was also meant to appear in both versions of the game but didn't make the cut due to licensing issues.
I'm kinda surprised you didn't bring up how busted Mothra is with her Full Heal. Also it was so weird that they made Jet Jaguar reflect beams when he's small.
It wasn’t till after I graduated high school that I was finally able to play this game but man oh man, the memories of me and the boys spending hours playing this game. So much fun and probably my favorite Godzilla game besides domination on the game boy advanced
I think that pause before the KO is to play the animation of the Kaiju slowly falling over dead. But most of the time, they’re already on the ground, so it feels awkward
I didn't have this but back in the day my Karate place used to have these parties every once in a while where we'd hook up tvs and consoles to every outlet in the building for all night video games/movies/pizza/dodgeball, and this game along with smash bros, SW Battlefront were the most common one, each would be playing on at least 2 tvs, i only played this game once or twice, but I remember playing as Mecha-King Ghidorah
It was one of the first video games I have a memory of playing. I’ve owned it forever and still play it from time to time. I’m just watching so we can all love this game together!
Thye only thing that bothers me about this game (and Unleashed), is that, when you do a team battle, you can damage your ally, and they can damage you, basically the "friendly fire".
I remember my friend playing it when we were kids. Mind you, this was at a time when i didn't know Jack squat about video games so, i just enjoyed watching him play. It's where i learned about all of the other Kaiju that existed in the Godzilla-verse
Well you know this game is good when the fans take matters into their own hands to remake it into Godzilla Save The Earth Melee. With updated graphics, more monsters, and updating the characters' movesets.

When he and mom went on a vacation together, he raised me on the VHS Godzilla's and gave me his Godzilla figure from his childhood, I still can't wait till Monday. See it on the play times!!!!!!!!! But doing the monster volleyball when they would go into the green force field and bounce back and you just kept hitting them was so epic! Soon I was babysitting my little cousin and he loved video games, so we would turn the speaker to play a tape, and it was full of children songs, green grass grows all around, man on the flying trapeze, down in Dixie, there was just something so funny to us timing the monster punches kicks and building launches with the lyrics to the songs, so many good memories! I'm so excited this review is here!!!!!!!!! And equally great as the children's songs to mass monster mayhem, is getting to see the Mass monster mayhem voice by the monster island buddies buddies!!!!!!!!

Trust me...I had to learn all about the monsters and their strengths and weaknesses before I was able to beat my Dad as a kid with Jet Jaguar.
I never grew up playing this or the first game in the trilogy, as my first Godzilla game was Unleashed for the Wii, which has been one of my favourite gaming consoles ever made, and which I have a huge amount of nostalgia for because of that fact, so that game is preferable to me, but it is nice that this game did pave the way for Unleashed, with Biollante being a playable character, and having a pretty good variety of features and Kaiju to play. But those few times were hella fun, I'm saddened that Xbox 360 isnt made anymore caude I would've loved to play this game again.
