Now this is how you do a cover, and proof to skeptics, that good music (or musicians) has no color - there are too many examples in recent history for me to name, whether backing other artists or up front, and this group did an excellent job! And I loved the comic adlibs at 2:20, the kazoo at 5:50, Uncle Phil's solo at 6:01 (ala Brothers Johnson, Larry Graham, Keni Burke or Stanley Clarke) and the lead guitarist's solo at 7:25. They are no joke!

Wayne Beck no. You hear the studio mix.. IE all the instruments together with the proper levels. That’s typical. However that doesnt mean that’s always the case. Often the initial rhythm sections will be playing along to a click track or metronome to keep time correct.
