  • In this video, I will be installing Coilovers in my 2001 mustang GT. Coilovers improve your suspension by giving you the ability to adjust your ride height of your car, getting better arrow dynamics, stiffening your suspension, improving you’re tire contact with the road, reducing the weight of your vehicle, and they increase the value of your car by making it look a lot more modern. I hope you enjoy and learn something from this video. If so, please hit that like button and share it with your friends!

      That Black GT , you’re welcome buddy. I work on mine myself instead of going to a garage because I like to do things myself and I can teach my children how to do it. Plus mechanics are expensive to go to but I understand why they are... the cost of the tools and the knowledge to be able to fix people’s vehicles isn’t cheap either. Keep it up buddy, I’m proud of ya

      I did end up changing the headlights, you can check that video out on my channel. They aren’t stock but they honestly do look like stock housing until I turn on the parking lights

    Someone might have already addressed this I haven't read through all your comments, I do want to start off by saying I think what you're doing is awesome doing all the work yourself, you learn to appreciate your vehicle more than if you paid somebody else to do it. And am I in no shape or form a Certified mechanic but I have built many tube chassis and stock body Racecars using the Foxbody platform. And I have owned a half a dozen fox bodies and currently have a new Edge. I noticed when you were adjusting the ride height on the front coilovers you were adjusting the actual spring adjuster for the spring ?!? I have an 02 GT with cheap coilovers, to adjust my ride height you actually adjust the overall length of the strut. The adjustment on the spring actually adjust the spring rate and not the ride height. It will make the ride height taller because you're making the spring stiffer. But where the strut bolts to the spindle you can turn that and it will make the strut taller in return adjust your ride height but keeps your spring rate the exact same !! I might be wrong It depends on what Raceland struts you got. There's some fully adjustable where you can adjust the spring rate ride height shock ECT. And they have some that you can adjust the ride height and the spring rate. I don't know much about those but I'm assuming they work the same way to adjust the ride height. If you have any questions hit me up I know a lot about the suspension on the fox body platform and overall car.

      Aye bro, thank you so much for the information! Really appreciate it! But yeah I agree with you, when I first installed them I was not adjusting the ride height correctly, since then I’ve figured out how to properly adjust the ride height😅😅 But I still definitely appreciate the tips👍🏼

    I plan on buying coilovers soon, hows the ride quality? and when you drive hard can you notice a big difference in handling?

    • @thatblackgt5056
      @thatblackgt5056  4 года назад

      Ride quality isn’t the greatest, but I’m also very low. Lemme tell you tho, that you feel every bump in the road. It’s tolerable tho. No, I don’t notice a big difference in the handling.

      The Raceland coilovers will make your mustang ride like it has no suspension at all, I know, my 2002 came with them. If you are sure you want to do this just remove your struts and use a steel spacer instead. Make sure you have your dental insurance plan paid for.

    So camber caster plates aren't necessaries for coilovers??

    • @thatblackgt5056
      @thatblackgt5056  4 года назад +1

      Well I wouldn’t say that. I do have a lot of camber in the front, it’s really up to you on whether or not you want to save your tires or not lol. But also keep in mind, you are going to want some negative camber so when you go over bumps and what not, your wheel will tuck nicely into your wheel well instead of smashing your fender.

    • @thatblackgt5056
      @thatblackgt5056  4 года назад +1

      No but I did have pooping issues. They seem to come and go especially if I put my car on a lift and back on the ground. I don’t think it’s hitting your frame unless you have it absolutely slammed. I would check to making sure your pre-load nut is tightened nice and tight and also, try rubbing some grease around the top bearing that seemed to help my for a while. Since the last time I’ve lifted my car, I have not had any more popping noises

      I feel like I know what your talking about and I think mine did the same thing. I’m having a really hard time understanding what you’re specifically talking about tho. So if you wanna just make like a 60 sec video and put it on your RUclips I can get a better understanding of your question. It’s also been a while since I’ve done this job so seeing a visual of the problem might help jog my memory. Are you talking about the bottom mounting part for your spring?
