Paul was not trying to emulate a klon but a Crother Hotcake instead. He loves the Hotcake with the mids boost on.

J is a beast … one of my favorite players.
I’m going with the Klon for the upper mids and high end response. But I’d rock the Horsemeat in a minute, it’s great!
    Great comparison 🤙

    Totally different beasts.
And wondering how the Horsemeat sounds with single coils. Possibly another demo? 🤞

I'd take the Horsemeat because its is more versatile and you *can* make it sound very close to the Klon. You would have to work with that "compressed" portion of its sound. Also I think my Unobtaniumd comes close to either of those.
    Once again, thank you sir!

The Meat certainly does the trick. Great comparison

Klon for the win, although the Horsemeat sounds great in its own way.
There are lots of great Klon type pedals that won't break the bank.
One of the best (most accurate, circuit-wise) is the RYRA Klone.

RYRA does make a great Klon clone :)

The Klon sounds magic here! I have a HM, and through a Vox, it sounds amazing.......all depends on your rig. With the Vox's midrange, Klone's have not sounded quite right to me.

You're a killer guitar player, this was a great video. Personally i didn't like any of the PRS pedals, they were a lot of hype around them thanks to youtubers. Horsemeat did sound good at certain settings especially as a low gain boost but i gotta say that Klon won every battle. Also contrary to you i found the Klon to be smoother 🙂

No comparison Jay, Centaur is the winner!

No, nothing like it. The Horsemeat is tight and responsive and lacks the midrange that the Klon has. Switching between the two is like moving the mic from the middle of the cone (Horsemeat) to the mid-outer cone (Klon). I prefer both and have both in my chain. The Klon really makes the single coils in my strat sing. Very resonant and rings like a bell. It wakes up any amp I use it on. Whereas the Horsemeat keeps everything precice and tight with a midrange scoop. Perfect from metal to hard rock to blues. Both are exceptional for both single coil and humbuckers. I prefer the Klon with single coils, and the Horsemeat with Humbuckers, but they are equally as good for either. Having said that. The Klon is my favorite as far as making more headroom for my amps. That extra resonanse goes a long way. Klon is great for a Metal Zone boost as well. The dynamics are off the charts. I'm glad I have both pedals. But they are a different horse altogether.

This pedal inspired me yo start designing my personal dual od pedal. Im calling it the Firehorse.

Just like their guitars, the Horsemeat sounds more ‘hifi’ compared to the Centaur

  • @justincase4925

In the horsemeat it can act like a klon if the treble is turned full and change the voice knob . The horsemeat can add bass but the klon cannot 😮. Horsemeat is more versatile. Can be metal or country.

Someone wearing a jacket with a metal zip while playing a guitar (particularly something like a PRS) makes me uncomfortable.

Horsemeat does not measure up to the midrange bounce of the klon. I'm betting it's a fraction of the cost though 😊.
