  • Vintage Vlogmas'21 Day 20, a Sunday, was all about my antique inventory prep, cleaning & pricing. I have so many new smalls and almost no space left to put anything else. I'm working my tail off to get it all done and out of the house before Christmas!

Instead of rice you can also use fish aquarium rocks. They are more abrasive for the tougher stuff

As a frequent shopper of all things Antique, I would prefer to go to a booth with minimal seasonal decor rather than what I am seeing so much of in my area - nothing but Christmas decor. The reason is that I go shopping to buy gifts for others. Please any booth owners reading this, keep gift shoppers in mind, and keep stocking those beautiful vintage finds.

You really do not need to apologize for not doing long enough video’s or for it not having a high enough quality (noticed it a couple of times during this vlogmas). Love your content and the effort you put in!

I just found your channel over Vlogmas and I've really enjoyed it. I'm sure you know all the tricks but I'll throw this tidbit out just in case. Denture tablets work well they have that fizzing action.

You can also use a bottle brush to get out most of the gunk. Get a flexible one so you can bend it to suit the shape of the vase. Plus women need to stop apologizing. Guys don't apologize for video length, content, etc. Apologizing constantly is a bad habit that is ingrained into us at a young age. Do what you do and let that be that :)

Hi! :) you are so inspirational. I will have to use the rice trick next time. I'm sad that vlogmas will be ending soon. I love seeing your videos - it's something I look forward to everyday this month. I hope you get lots of things done before Christmas. :)

I am guilty in asking you for longer videos, but it’s only because I love your vlogs. However, your videos are QUALITY!!! I appreciate you bringing us amazing content, specially during Q4 season. I am a vendor as well, I haven’t even put up my Christmas tree because I’ve been so busy cleaning, sourcing, pricing, etc. I agree with the seasonal merch, but I’ve noticed that people don’t come to my booth unless they see something festive, so I give them festive lol! I ended up pricing over 1000 pieces of smalls just for this season, so this is what I do: I make my tags on vistaprint. From one business card I get 3 customized tag, and then I cut them, make a hole and attach the tag with those plastic snap security fastners. Makes my merch look a bit more high end. I order about 500 cards for like 30 dollars whenever they have a special. Also in amazon there’s a double side tape that acts like glue but it’s repositionable for 10 dollars, but it saves you time and it attaches on anything even gemstones. Hope this helps speed up the process.

I'm amazed that people buy any volume of the vases to justify deep cleaning them. Around here they sit languishing on thrift store shelves. Well, really all glassware in general. Glad you can tap into a market for that category in your region!

For the stubborn dirt in that one vase, you can try what restaurants do to clean glass coffee pots. Basically put some Kosher salt, or the kind of chunky salt crystals you would put in a salt grinder, in the bottom - about the same amount as the rice you used. Then squirt some lemon juice in there, and add some crushed ice (in a large coffee pot, you would just use ice cubes, but since the vase is so small, you can just crush one or two cubes and throw 'em in). Then swirl it around vigorously, let sit for about 10 minutes, then rinse with hot water.
Either that, or just buy a bottle brush. They make really small ones on long handles.

My favorite tool is a metal skewer. When you’ve gone as far as you can with the rice mix, you can roll a paper towel to squeeze into the bottle. You only need enough to get to the bottom. Then insert the skewer. Move the paper towel around in the bottom. You won’t be able to get the skewer to the sides, but you can rotate the paper towel around to grab dirt. Next you have to finagle the soggy paper towel out of the bottle. This works all the time. That skewer works good to clean reusable straws. Just twist a pellet of paper towel into the straw and push it all the way thru with the skewer.

I don’t sell christmas/seasonal decor either. Honestly, I figure enough people already do it, and I don’t even decorate my own house for the seasons/holidays. I’m just not very festive so I guess that translates to my booth haha

Thank you for the rice tip. I have used denture cleaner, soaking overnight, but your metbod is much quicker. Also, if there is no painted decoration on the glass or ceramic, I add a sploosh of vinegar to my sink of soapy water and it really adds sparkle.

adding salt to the rice works well too.... we did ice and salt for coffee pots at our restaurant. Rice is good for that because ice probably wouldn't fit.....lol... then I throw them in the dishwasher if they can take it and that usually does the job.

Try white vinegar for your bottles. Fill and soak for 1/2 hour. It's mildly acidic and will dissolve the minerals in your vases. Follow up with soapy water and rinse. Works great.

Hi! I only recently found you but have enjoyed Vlogmas so much. I just rented a tiny booth a few months ago and this was my first Christmas. I was excited and decided on vintage traditional (red/green/white) and vintage wood ornaments. I sold a lot of ornaments but hardly any of the other stuff (glassware, dishes). It may have only been my first time, but I have decided to sell everything half off after the 25th. I think a lot of people actually wait until after Christmas to buy their stuff anyway. I know I always did! I will do almost nothing next year other than acknowledge the season with some light booth decor. Instead Im going to concentrate on gift ideas. I’m sure it does sell well for many people like you said. Anyway thanks so much for addressing this topic and for all the fun content!
