    Great feedback dude, totally agree. I hope the team seriously takes these into account. They're always open to feedback so im hopeful. The player progression point is great. Games like runescape have gained 10+ year players by giving amazing items that are unlocked at leveling milestones and seen as a badge of honor by the community. Having a class of items that are rare and thereby expensive does a lot as far as giving some class of players goals to strive for. Combine that with nfts and it can be taken to the next level.

    Off the top of my head here is my wish list: **Exploration with a sense of mystery & discovery** is something that should be added to Overworld, Zero, & Beyond.
    For Overworld:
    (1) Returning NPC Rangers of the same faction occasionally seen in game offer directions to Illuvials of interest.
    (2) NPC Rangers of any faction can occasionally be found injured & may ask for resources for assistance. Doing so lifts your standing in their faction improving odds future NPC’s will offer help, improve trade, share stories or be less rude / hostile.
    (3) NPC Rangers of same faction occasionally will trade, or offer training in mechanics you have not properly mastered, and give clues to Lore, hidden Locations with access triggered by Calendar, Events or unlocked with an item, or gift you an item useable in other ILV games.
    For Zero:
    (1) Mining events occasionally unearth relics, artefacts, or Illuvial bones offering valuable Lore, and research data. You can choose the items or the resources.
    (2) Occasional requests from NPC’s on a Video Comlink ask you to manufacture items for them in return they offer Lore, Data, Blueprints or (cosmetic) schematic image NFT’s of cool buildings, space craft etc that can also be printed on ILV metal plates!
    For Beyond:
    (1) Update Album to hold (A) the page filled with most powerful Illuvial expressions measured in Leaderboard and (B) additional pages to hold your collections. Additional pages occur by free auto spawn when 2 or more Illuvial expressions have matching background otherwise it can be purchased by the user.
    (2) Completing Album using matching backgrounds unlock Dashboard & Album skins based on the Background Tier and Tier of Illuvial.
    (3) Completing Illuvitar expressions specifically using NEXUS backgrounds provide a collectible NFT containing a panoramic ground level 360 degree image of that location as well as possible gameplay hints and interesting Lore. These images can be printed on ILV plates!
    (4) Completing Albums with colour backgrounds matching the Affinity is one of the steps to unlock Easter Eggs.

    Palworld is prob the best that could have happened to illuvium, without competition things tend to get stale and obvious shortcomings often remain. If the illuvium team is up to the task, it will be motivation, something to outdo. (i didnt play palworld just saw some gameplay etc and listened but it looks very engaging and ppl love it). I still think we are 2-3 years away from a more or less complete overworld game and maybe 4-7+ years before illuvium gets really huge if and only if things work out well.

    I'm in big agreement on 8 of those. The only two I wouldn't go with is #9 because (unless it's optional) it would demoralize newer players, and #2 just because my whole thing, and I've done videos on this, is that Overworld needs to be a LOT more difficult or we risk having the illuvials not being worth much and influencers calling the game boring. People should be flipping the F out over catching a mid-tier illuvial in the wild. Some people will argue "well getting a Ramphyre will be really hard" no no no, ALL illuvials need to be more difficult to obtain. I know we need to strike the balance between too easy and too hard, but it's far too easy rn IMO.
    I think having a penalty for dying would go a long way here. Maybe something like if you die, that thing that closes in on you near the end (overdrive?) comes sooner or something like that. Now you're adding in levels of risk and strategy which weren't there before, and I think it would add a TON to the replay value like you spoke about at the end.

    Love the idea of a coop scavenging mode. Almost like D1SK battles for Overworld. A set time frame for harvesting and catching Illuvials, with each collected item/Illuvial associated to a point system of sorts. Whoever earns the most keeps the whole bag. There are so many iterations to this concept that could be looked into.
    Also, I do get your view on removing Arena from Overworld but I have an alternative solution. Imagine the mysterious “NPCs” that the team have alluded to were actually akin to Pokemon trainers that you can encounter for battles. This could be where Arena makes more sense in Overworld. And separately, just make the Illuvials that will randomly populate on a given run be individually battled in order to catch.
    All that being said, I respect that the lore of Illuvium may be a reason these things can or can’t happen. Some of these ideas while cool may conflict with the overall meta.

    Appreciate the honest review!
    Is the hardware requirement another potentially major obstacle to getting a lot of players? I have a computer (4-5 yrs old or so) that works completely fine for internet, streaming, and whatever else I do (admittedly not much gaming), but I can barely open Illuvium, and it's so lagged I can't even do anything in the starting screen. Would love to play, but I have to justify dropping money on a new computer whose sole purpose would be to play Illuvium. Similarly I have a teenage family member who is super into Pokemon, plays games, and parents have dabbled in crypto - basically a prime candidate. BUT, he plays all his games on a tablet. Maybe it could meet the hardware requirements, but I bet not. Maybe my situation isn't especially representative, but it's hard for me to see how Illuvium will get anywhere close to millions of players with the current hardware requirements, let alone all the other stuff you mention.
    I see the roadmap shows a mobile game version in Q1 2025... we'll see what happens at open beta, but I suspect the player numbers may be disappointing (I would love to be wrong). In that case, I hope the team can prioritize making the game much more accessible regarding hardware and platform (mobile).

  • @gg05irgm
    @gg05irgm 8 месяцев назад +3

    Okay ill share some feedback on the game from what i have learned so far. Might be a long post.
    First lets priotize correctly. I agree overworld is the center of illuvium, the core and all the other modes are simply side games including arena. I know there are diehard arena heads out there who will disagree, but the facts are just that all the veins lead to the heart, and that heart is overworld. So that's just that. But it leads into the big question - what is the core experience of illuvium?
    I think that sometimes you create something, and others interact with it not for the idea you created but for the potential they can see inside it. As such, when i look at the illuvium universe i see the ultimate game in my head as being an openworld, multiplayer mmo pokemon. The autobattler is not something i have personally much care for, i was in fact sad that i can't get to choose moves like in pokemon between rounds. However, having played arena and looking into autobattlers in general and given thought to the complexity of outcome i have decided that even though its not something i dream of, i don't actually have a problem with it and it seems to work well enough. It's interesting that you think the autobattler should eventually be removed from overworld. I wouldn't complain, but i also think it could work. I haven't thought much about it, but i know i'd never create an autobattler in a game myself. This one is for a future further ahead that i will get into later.
    Let's beat a dead horse some more. Overworld is empty yes yes. It very much is. It needs so many more things from illuvials, to organic life, to npcs, to npc battles for rewards, quests, to LOTS more random rng events and basically it needs all the life still brought out of it. But i won't get too much into this. One thing i will mention not often mentioned is that i wish there were more like... special things to find like treasures or crystal caves with potential rare crystals and what not - i am missing some mystery discovery with rewards. I love to explore but i need some cool rare shit to discover to have max fun.
    So, let's get into some of the limitations of overworld as is. The first thing i am going to talk about is fuel cost. I think this is the most detrimental aspect of the game, i just have such a hard time seeing how this can ever be good. I understand the idea on paper: "we need money income so lets just charge a cost for every gameplay session you want in overworld and hope that ppl understand its like buying a pack of cards". This is me is gonna be terrible. The last pricing suggestions i saw from that i could easily spend more just playing the game in one day than whole AAA titles cost. So you have bad luck and now you paid the price for 5 AAA games in a week with nothing special to show for it. Terrible. lmao. Something IRL comes up? now youre raging and angry coz your money for the gameplay session is already out --> antisocial. How are you gonna onboard the masses that way. I realize its a large part of the foundation for fuel income for land owners but i think that it all needs to be reconstructed. Let's say for 100% revenue, 90% is distributed according to revdis, 5% is distributed for landowners accordion to their fraction of all fuel sold so if you sold 1% of all fuel you get 1% of the 5% cut, and 5% to pvp rewards. Fuel prices are set by the DOA to reflect pricing chosen to be ideal and selling fuel is an automatic process and you will only get paid out once a period finishes and all sold fuel as well as revenue for the period is calculated to give you your cut.
    Look, there is no way to do it without redesigning a whole lot of systems.There are different fuel types to optimize the gameplay of Zero. So if you want to preserve that, there needs to be use for 3 types of fuels for example. So one could be cost to increase efficiency when traveling, another could be cost of crafting stuff and a third could be well a secondary crafting fuel for example. Let's talk fuel for travelling efficiency for example. Now since price for travel is set in dollars if you want to sell 3$ travel it doesn't matter if you buy 3 fuels for 1 dollar each or 30 fuels for 0.1$ each - and the point is that you can increase/decrease the value of 1 fuel at will in accordance with the the amount needed for use. It's a bit complicated but simplified you can say that based on last period you can see how much it was worth selling 1 fuel to the market in the last period, therefore adjusting the amount of fuel needed for a 3$ travel can be set so that it gives the same value based on last period to either sell to market or keep to use for yourself. Naturally it must be a bit more rebust to resist manipulations but thats the essence of how fuel should work i think if you remade some systems including revdist.
    How can revenue be generated without fuel costing a fortune for every run? Complex question that are not easy to answer with certainty. How do games make money? One thing i do know is that free to play has proven effective in bringing in players and then keeping them there and once people are having fun they start paying to get extra stuff, but huge costs just to play? ehhh. I think that what illuvium is doing is the opposite, it forces you to pay a painful amount of money for every overworld run. It's the opposite of escapism it reminds you of the real world struggles you want to get away from. Bad for a game. I think the structure of travel cost should be something like
    Tier | Cost | Efficiency | Subscription efficiency
    1 | free | 100% | 200%
    2 | 3$ | 400% | 600%
    3 | 15$ | 2000% | 2500%
    See what is happening here? Instead just a slider can be used to add fuel and increase efficient up to a limit. Regardless i don't think there is any way to avoid this leaving a bad taste of pure p2w in the mouth of consumers. Because let's face it, that is literally what it is. It's pure p2w. And on that note, this is one of blockchain games like illuviums biggest problems. Retail gamers hate p2w and illuvium has integrated blockchain and free trading up to the point where the game is a clear p2w game. There have been worse games, but in illuvium you can buy everything and its aiming for things to have rarity and value so yea its clear case of p2w game.
    Going back to, i think the most honest way of getting income is free to play, have a monthly subscription fee to increase tier efficiency and other perks, and find other income streams that people are willing to pay for through actual desire to have those things. People buy skins, people buy progress. They will continue to spend money on these things. It's also important to have things in game that cannot be bought. Food for thought.
    Anyway this got a lot more complex than i wanted, so now i want to touch on something that has bugged me and leading into the further future. I don't actually consider overworld to be MMO worthy as it is, being instanced and smaller in scale than i think most recognize. I think the maps are very limited and small, even if the team say they are huge and expansive. The glory of a fully fleshed seamless open world is like nothing else. Therefore i consider current open world to be a testrun really. I think they should also keep going on with it and make it into its own game, in its limited form it might eventually one day be the overworld for mobile to catch illuvials while the real pc MMO becomes a fully fleshed open world experience. So i hope they focus on this overworld for now and 2-5 years down the line maybe aim for making the actual MMO version which will be the ultimate Illuvium game in my opinion.
    There were a lot more things i wanted to say but this took way to long and i am out of time so i will just leave it here for now. Byeee

    100% agree with these points Illuvium definitely needs some changes. The whole shoot the orbs is boring they need roaming creatures for it to be more immersive, and the competing for resources pvp style would make it more fun. Also aligned with player progression at the current moment I would not play illuvium overworld but if they add achievements, earn some soulbound unique items for levels etc it would be more worth grinding. how do you not talk about Parallel when talking about web3 games that are feature complete and fun?

    • @Scoriox
      @Scoriox  8 месяцев назад

      Because Parallel is boring asf. I'm excited for the ai colony but the TCG is reallyyyyy bad compared to most TCG's and I played hearthstone for 5 years

    I bought a few illuvium but got out.. only 2x from there.. other games are much more fun.. illuvium has a great base.. but who wants to play arena? Its auto pilot.. the arena should be a big map where we actually fight illuvials

    You can do all of that but multiplayer mode it what will bring millions as you can see from palworld. Have all this land to run around on and not be able to see and fight other players is a wast of space

    ilv was a cashgrab from day 1 devs has no vision and they don't know what they are doing.

    • @metsrus
      @metsrus 8 месяцев назад +1

      actually they do have a great vision with the entire ecosystem. It's just the execution hasn't been top notch. Maybe they spread themselves thin trying to make too many games at once.

    • @Scoriox
      @Scoriox  8 месяцев назад

      I mean they are way further ahead than every other Web 3 game by far. So if thats a cash grab whats everything else?
