Thank you so much Marlena. As a woman who just turned 50 I appreciate all your tips and tricks so much. My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer in may and we are right in the thick of treatments so my makeup and skin care are really my little luxuries at this point and having you to help me make the most of them helps me feel prettier and more confident as well as looking like I have it all together even when I just don’t. Much love and I can’t wait for makeup geek academy to start. 💙💙💙💙💙(blue hearts for the blue prostate cancer ribbon)💙💙💙💙
@@BeeKay4444 agreed BeeKay! Double and Triple F&@* Cancer. I’m praying so hard for your hubby! He will come through his treatments and survive! Prayer is powerful and God is Great!💙🙏🕊️✨✝️
Great video! ❤Esty here. Dermaplaning/shaving the face helps exfoliate the skin as well as getting rid of the vellus hair that grows. No, it will never cause the hair to grow back darker or thicker. But since the hair helps wick sebum out of the pore, those with acneic skin can experience breakouts. A good skincare routine will help prevent this problem. XOXO
Agree 100% agree with shaving your face! I actually dermaplane, but my skin feel so soft and my makeup goes on so much smoother. You are my makeup how-to guru and I have learned so much from you! THANK YOU! ❤
I have Alopecia and I always get compliments on my makeup being flawless. (Even if I don’t think so). I realized it was because I didn’t have the peach fuzz
💯% agree. It has made such a difference to both how my skin care performs and my makeup application. It’s amazing how much this simple step changes the game. 💙💙💙
@@thitsarmin absolutely not. It grows in just the same. No darker and no thicker. I use a facial oil to lubricate my skin to shave/dermaplane and then a non irritating moisturizer after. Just don’t use a exfoliate for a couple days after to avoid irritation. 💙💙
All hail the Queen! I missed you and Makeup Geek, apologies. But, I found you! Thank you for not giving up on the makeup community. You are amazing and inspirational.
The shaving tip is so accurate. I used to use Nair in small areas on my face. I'd get red patches every time irregardless of how long or short I left it on. Shaving is a much better option.
100% great tips. My rosacea doesn’t like lactic acid but I’ve heard several people rave about it. And ladies….yes, shave. It doesn’t grow back thicker or faster. It’s smoothing. Thanks for the amazing tips and trainings, like usual.
I have rosacea as well and BHAs and PHAs might be better options for exfoliation, as well as gentle peeling gels. I've considered shaving my face for years. As someone with rosacea, has it irritated your skin? Do you have any recs for specific razors and shaving cream?
Just a suggestion: my rosacea responded well to Spironolactone, which is a prescription medication. I still have some redness, but no longer get the little bumps.
@@jeanetteh.9240 thanks. I don’t have a dermatologist in my remote area but will look into it more. I use the Ordinary’s azelaic acid & Prosacea gel but would like better results.

You're so stunning Marlena. Not blowing smoke, just a beauty. Your videos are helping me during a difficult time, when I'm not feeling my most beautiful. Thank you
I enjoy these videos so much. I'm 59. I am having to really figure out my makeup again. The texture, my skin is dry ( it was super oily before) . My eyes are so much more hooded. It is a definite process. I'm definitely teaching myself how to use cream products!
I learned from the RUclipsr Mary Ellen after 60 to apply a tiny amount of a retinol cream to my brow bones (not on the eyelids). It really does seem to help with the hooding.
Powdering lids - game changing. Thank yo Marlena. Been loving your behind the industry videos on ingredients and makeup industry practices - labs, marketing etc. So informative.

I actually love your Makeup Geek brushes and am sad I can't get them again. I do have a small stash of the ones I love. That small pencil brush for the lower lid is everything! Maybe some day in the future!! Hope is alive. ;-)
I saw your video where you recommended shaving. And I haven’t looked back! My makeup did go on a lot more smoothly. And thanks for reminding to do a one and done with the razor. Makes sense! ❤ many thanks!🙏🏼💕
Consider using alcohol to clean and reuse razors. Too much landfill. Surgical instruments are also boiled and reused. Do what feels right to you but just a suggestion
@@evalmiki2011I mix soap and water in a mug and clean my razor in it after every use, and wipe off the blade on a clean cloth before putting it away. Unlike surgical instruments, the only one using my razor is me, so I’m not grossed out by reusing my own razor. I use mine till the moisturizing strip starts fading. Throwing it after every use is wasteful to me. Men don’t use a new razor every time they shave their face, and usually women have lesser facial hair than men do. So, I can’t see any good reason to throw your razor after one use, unless it’s a super cheap one which is really only meant to be used one time.
