I’ve watched Marlena for years, literally forever, and I still watch her. I love her, I root for her and I hope Makeup Geek ( or it’s equivalent) comes back!❤❤❤
You were MADE for this Marlena! Not only is your makeup SO GOOD, you explain everything SO WELL. One day I'm gonna drive down to Houston (I'm in Ft Worth) and BEG YOU to do my makeup! LOL
Thank you. This is awesome, Marlena. I never was a "2016 girl" with the cut crease and contour and the Shape Tape (no judgment) I'm 50. My takeaway from that era is that I love highlighter. It's good to see you again, girl xo. Best wishes to you and your family ❤
I hear shape tape is actually pretty good if used in "a little goes a long way, less is more" kind of way because of how pigmented it is. I never actually tried it, though, cuz it wasn't available in Canada when I was in the market for a concealer and I still have a bunch of other concealers in the fridge from back then that I yet have to start, but I'm really looking forward to getting to try it one day now that is has become available to us too! Just absolutely not caked on à la 2016 😂
Marlena, I feel so validated! I've been doing this look for awhile now. I'm 55 and I wanted to look timeless when I tried mastering the more natural look... and you look beautiful and timeless!! I love your eyes! My eye shape is different than yours, but on you? I couldn't stop looking at your eyes!! I see your eyes, not your makeup. You really look gorgeous!! I missed the time you were first on RUclips, but heard of you later (good things) and I'm so glad your doing makeup tutorials again. I'm really enjoying learning from you, the GOAT of makeup artistry!!
I just recently started watching you…new fan😊 love the natural make up look. As a woman in her 50’s, I’m learning that a natural look seems to flatter me more. Love the other looks too, just struggle to make them look good on me.
You are so stunning and elegant! I appreciate that you are a vivacious curvy lady because I am too and you always remind me that we can still look stunning ❤
You are such a teacher at heart Marlena. Your instructions are always clear and helpful. I hope Lexy enjoyed her nap. And if I could suggest a recreation of a makeup look it would be from 2022 when Maria Menounos wore a green dress to the Oscars. She had a cat eye type of makeup look that seemed to use both black and green eyeliner. She's beautiful no matter what. But I think that makeup look was so pretty on her. I would love it if you could recreate it.
I am 75 and a really old old time makeup artist back when we used to have a license and I still love your videos and your makeup and I can't even find my lips much less lost or live line lol Thank you so much for wonderful video❤❤
I appreciate your tutorials and did this one right along with you, rather than simply watching. I loved the results and plan use this method next month for a wedding guest look where my dress is the star, but I want my face to look polished! I’ll be practicing it in the meantime! 💕 Thank you!
I love this tutorial! It's so elegant! You know, I don't think I can get away with 5 minute makeup anymore. I really need time for that base makeup. And I agree about needed more color! Where does it go?!
Marlena it helps that you're gorgeous to begin with even without a stitch of makeup on! I try so hard to follow your guidelines but it never turns out as beautiful as how you do it! 😖 I do have a quick question for you; if you have hooded eyes, like I do, and I have mature - looser skin on my upper lids, can I still do that trick with the cream dark brown cream shadow along the lash line and wing it out?
Yes the cream shadow should work! But make sure to set with a powder so it doesn’t crease on the hooded part of that makes sense. Keep the color as close to lash line as possible and only on outer half. Let me know how it works for you!
You know, I was just thinking, how different but.... I don't know how to put it, but basically, you had a successful makeup company and RUclips then when things went south I don't remember hearing much. No drama like you see others going through, no girl drama, no fighting, and you rode it out with class, holding on to your dignity when you could have easily clapped back .. and now you're like a new you... still classy, still respected, with a lot of us here to support you. That fact that after everything you've been through, you didn't lower your standards or morality... it's empowering, encouraging, and it shows us all that bad things happen to good people, but that doesn't mean it's the end. I don't know if that makes sense and I usually never comment. I don't know how to explain it. Like when you think of certain people, we're just over it, done with the drama, people have done awful things and act like the victim, and here you were, an actual victim acting like a champ. Not that you're a victim, you know what I mean. And if you don't, sorry. To put it short... You're an inspiration, and I can't wait to see what's in store for you.
Thank you, finally someone said it, all thoes chunky, flacky, metallic, foiled eyeshadows and more dossent look good om my werry texture eyelids, sometimes my eyelids looks like they are marbel cracked and I hate it so much writh the overly shining, I'm always looking fore olde style shimmers. I did order some leftover mat eyeshadows from makeup geek, yes they are stil selling. i hope that wril help and keep the shine too a thin eyeshadows liner along the lashline. Big hugs from Denmark 🌹🥰
I love using shadow for liner and to beef up the look of my lash line. And it even works great to prevent eyeliner from feathering outside where you want it or to completely vanish shortly after applying- by locking a liner down with a similar tone shadow. I’m also absolutely loving these eye shadow sticks from Milani, Flower, WnW, and other affordable brands as a one and some eye look… swipe, tap and out the door looking as if you really spent some time on your eye look that day.🔥
I just love watching your channel you are an amazing makeup artist, you always have inspire me with your techniques. I would love to see your top cancelers for mature under eyes, and setting powders. ❤️
Yes, step away from the makeup! I learned this a long time ago, before I learned this, you could peel away layer upon layer of makeup and it would transfer to not just my clothing but my fingers during the day and lift like no one’s business- I was trying to look flawless but it was flawed big time. I stopped watching and listening to most gurus and started experimenting on my own. I knew I finessed my application when I had 2 co-workers ask me two different questions. 1st- did you just come back from a facial, cause your skin looks amazing”. And the second was “are you even wearing makeup?” I knew I finally nailed that polished look that was so subtle that no one knew I had makeup on, just that my skin look amazing, I looked like I slept well (I was working night shift at our local hospital and no one looks awake on night shift), my skin wasn’t feeling irritated under multiple layers of makeup. Now, a thin application of corrected, concealer, foundation, bronzer and blush, a dusting of a shade darker than my skin tone shadow on my eyelids, a smudge of liner (usually brown or gray as black looks harsh on me) and mascara and gently filled in brows. Most of my makeup is cream based, I only very lightly powder under my eyes, my lids and t-zone, no more baking. I am now 61 and people still ask if I am wearing makeup so those fine wrinkles and crows feet around my eyes and lips aren’t so noticeable. For me, subtle is more elegant and sexier.
