I do this a lot. Dig and cat food are amazing and cheap baits. Dollar Tree bag of dog food will get all your bait for an entire season. I target deep holes in swift current away from access because people steal my traps. In FL, you have to put your name and address on a tag on them.

Yeah I used to use dog food back when I had a dog. And as you can see here - I'm kind of back where nobody treks in hopes of nobody stealing it.

You might want to try public lakes around the neighborhood, and drop the funnel trap where there are plants growing in the water

@@Joey-l2t I would go for the bottom for stability reason. For bait, rather than bread, I would go with a small can of cat food with several holes drilled into it.

Great video! Dude it's so frustrating. I used those traps for a week and on the final day when I was getting ready to leave and the trap got over 2 dozen of them... that was super frustrating

Haha - yeah it can be a bit of luck sometimes! That's just fishing though!

Angling With Alex I can’t seem to stop catfish from coming into my trap and eating everything, can you help me please?

    • @AnglingWithAlex

@@fransicopadron7908 make the entry point smaller to keep the bigger fish out. If they are the same size as what you want to catch then you need to find a bait they dont like that the bait likes. Otherwise - its gonna be hard haha.

I tried mullet and it nearly doubled my crawfish rate.

Also the trap won’t get too crammed in there with minnows because they will eventually swim their way out of the holes specially sunfish because they’re really smart

Don't have that problem in this body of water but that is definitely a concern in some places. Good problem to have if you ask me hah!

Sure hope you know what kind on MInnows u are trapping. Because salmon and trout fry are that size and would be sad to see them being used as bait. Most people trap in isolated ponds for this reason.
