- Today Vick is going to be restoring an autographed Air Jordan 2 from 1994. Jordan restorations of this magnitude are better done in pairs, so today Vick will be bringing A1 Restorations back to help with this massive project. The key is to keep the Air Jordan 2 as OG as possible while protecting the Michael Jordan autograph. This project will require a full midsole swap, among other things.
The first step is to remove the old, crumbling midsoles and old glue. This was quite an undertaking. While the midsoles came apart quite easily, removing the old glue and residue took a lot of scraping and repeated use of the heat gun. The next step is to remove some donor midsoles. For this Vick found a pair of Jordan 2 Lows from 2016.
Removing midsoles from Air Jordan 2s is not the prettiest thing in the world, it requires tearing the entire shoe apart. Luckily after a small struggle the pair was able to pull the midsoles, as well as shape them with a dremel to prep them for glue.
Vick and A1 glued the midsoles in place without too much trouble and the shoes are looking better already. At this point in the Jordan restoration process the shoes are wearable. The finishing touches include some fresh paint on some of the more beat up areas, and reapplying the sticker that proves that this pair of MJ-signed Air Jordan 2s is authentic.

Vick never claims to be the best at restoration. Vick is and forever will be a student and that is what makes him a master at his craft.
Vick is always willing to learn something new!
One tip I learned for any old and brittle plastic/rubber pieces. If you let them sit in brake fluid they will reverse that brittleness and make the rubber/plastic flexible once again

Amazing work I have a Jordan 2 Chicago retro shoe that is signed by Michael Jordan but it’s midsole and plastic is falling apart. Please help!!! 😭
Correction : on the OGs there was 4 Plastic eye lids on any Size 10 & above... Same as upcoming AJ2 Chicago Retro. So sz 9.5 and below will always have 3 eye lids on OG / 2022 Retro

Hey I know you didn’t do it in this video but I was wondering when using the sole revive to get rid of yellowing how often do you have to apply it because I’m struggling getting it off my gel soles
If we're doing it in a session we apply every 24 hours for a few days.

@@RESHOEVN8R Yeah fosho! There's one detail you guys left out though in terms of the difference between the '16 and '95 retros. The '95 has an air unit in the heel while the '16 has a full length air unit. Part of the reason why A1 had to shave down the front of the midsole so it could fit.

Isn’t the deterioration part of this kind of shoe? I can’t see the owner actually wearing these around which to me is the only reason to restore old pairs. If they’re just display pieces then what’s the point? Like I said the deterioration is part of its being old.
