    Great job! Looking to do something similar for our high school field in Wisconsin. Right now, we have lots of weeds/crab grass growing on the infield, would you recommend spraying for weeds before you mow to 1” and dethach? You have this type of weed killer that supposedly kills the weeds/crab grass but not the actual grass. Thanks for the help!

    • @CoachTooz
      @CoachTooz  8 месяцев назад

      I use Speedzone Southern for weeds, however it won't kill crab grass. I haven't found anything effective that will kill crabgrass, but not everything else.

    • @CoachTooz

      Hi, thanks for the kind words. I don't follow the same process with the outfield, because of time purposes. I do a pretty generic overseed with a lot of shortcuts.

    Great Video! I know you didn't like the topsoil mix, but how much top soil did you have delivered for the infield?

    • @CoachTooz

    Do you keep your players off the field during the fall? We do fall baseball where we are and don't get done until the end of October. What type of grass do you recommend for cold climate areas? GREAT VIDEO!!!

    • @CoachTooz
      @CoachTooz  8 месяцев назад

      We are off it for about a month to a month and a half or so. Definitely use Perennial Rye or KBG for cold climate. You can even do a mixture of both.

    What didn’t you like about the loam, what benefits do you anticipate by using just sand next time? And does that affect the germination rate?

    • @CoachTooz
      @CoachTooz  2 года назад

      There was a lot of rocks in it, and it kind of clumped up and hardened up in spots. I actually found a few chards of class, which I couldn't believe. I had used it before last winter to level before SOD and it was great.
      In regards to the germination rate, that wouldn't be affected, but the Silica sand is so easy to work with, is perfect for leveling, never has any other material in it and it drains so well. The only downside is the cost.

  • @domorekid
    @domorekid 7 месяцев назад

    how much sand is required for a project like this? I have a high school field in central Indiana that needs some love!

    have you ever heard of rhizome split aeration, also called other names depending what state you're coming from? They look like thin ninja stars instead of plug aeration. You cut the runners in two directions and they sprout out faster than over seeding "Bermuda Grass"

    What would be your suggestion for amount of seed needed to overseed a baseball infield and outfireld, roughly 2acres. We are trying to contract out as we are new coaching staff for our team, and we have received different amount numbers from 100lbs(from former head coach) to 400lbs. Do you have any suggestions?
