    This technique saved my sweater ! I noticed a miscrossed cable front and center on my Moby sweater. way too late to ladder down. I thought this certainly won’t work on my big 8 stitch cable but it did ! Not perfect but I am very happy with it. THANK YOU !!

    I recommended this video to a relatively new knitter on Facebook who had made a mistake in a fairly complex cable pattern. She did a great job without having to ladder down or frog two inches of knitting, which has the potential to be disastrous for a beginner. Thank you for sharing this invaluable technique that we can now use to help other knitters.

    You are so awesome! Whenever I look up and little idea for an enhancement or a fix, it seems like you are the one who has thought it through from a technical point of view and demo'd it. Thank you, RR!

    That is simply awesome. I'm one of those who would be driven nuts by an error like that and would drop down the entire length of a sweater to fix it if I had to. This is so nice too know!

    That's amazing! I was lost at first but placing the needles in the stitches above and below really helped me see and understand the procedure. TY

    As I have I listened on and on learning everything you say, you just taught me how to sew a picture or design onto a sweater I may make; that way I don't have to stop and count and figure and whatever. I have already fixed sweaters this way from when I was a kid because I do know how to sew. My mom can't figure it out though. As for myself, when when you finally get to your second way of correcting the cable I don't even know what you're saying about the knit terms but I can watch and do anything you show me to do... I get the gist of it, I know how it's supposed to go (look) and you are getting me the means to make it look right. I think I've got a knack for it, because just as you said something or other about the tension, I had already said, "you need to tighten those things up" and sure enough, you said so! LOL. I will know this forever now.

    Cooool... I'm glad I ran across this video in case I ever learn to knit. it seems every time I try to learn how to knit, I have picked up a different way of casting on and now I'm aware that there are about a half a dozen different ways to knit so I've been confused but I'm getting closer...
    I definitely want to learn a method that is quick has a minimal amount of movement due to the arthritis and having had broken elbows and wrists and I am definitely a left-handed yarn thrower. I would not be able to make my right hand do that even though I was a beautician for ages and can do things with my left hand that my right-handed self cannot do as well as the left. Besides which, I learn to crochet first when I was in 5th grade so do I have not crocheted much through years it is well ingrained that I throw thread with my left and a further besides which is that I can't see myself stopping n holding both of my hooks while I throw thread with my right I would rather just manipulated with the needles so whatever that way is that I have seen done please tell me so I can hurry up and learn how to do knit cables.
    PS I meant holding both my needles but that does give me an idea is there a fiber art where you use two hooks to knit... am I naive to think that I've just invented a new method?

    I've done this for years! Fortunately, not too often! First time the mis-crossed cable was way down just above the cuff of a sleeve. And the entire pullover was blocked, seamed, and I noticed it the first time I wore it. The Pullover was a Viking Knits called Hervor by Elsebeth Lavold. The sleeves had complicated cables from cuff to shoulder! Duplicate stitch saved my sanity! ❤️

    Excellent tip. I have been knitting a lot of fair isle lately and duplicate stitch is invaluable for fixing color work mistakes- but I never would have thought to use it to fix a cable. It looks perfect!

    Hi. Do you have a video on how to lengthen a knitted jumper that has cables and moss stitch pattern. Is it even possible? Thanks.

    • @RoxanneRichardson
      @RoxanneRichardson  3 года назад

      It's possible, but the solution will be different, depending on several factors, like which direction the knitting was worked (relative to where you want to add length), and whether you need to extend the stitch pattern, or if extending the length of the ribbing would be sufficient.
