Thanks for posting this Suzanne. I'll practice this on a swatch before I cut into my actual mistake so I can be confident I won't mess it up further. Thanks Again!!
Suzanne, huge thank you for this video! I am working on a sweater that has 25 cables - ropes, braids, a bunch that I don’t know the names of…I fixed EIGHT mis-crossings using your method - the last one had two branches crossing each other so I needed four needles and two sets of Kitcheners - but I am so happy to say that there was no ripping out, just surgery, with your video for guidance! Your method totally works and saved my sweater from purgatory! What a great way to start 2022!
Holy cow! You are a wizzardess! Your method of weaving in the very short cut tails is brilliant- and obvious - once I see it done! Thank you for your wonderful work in sharing your knowledge!
Thanks Suzanne! When I go back to your videos I find always something new and useful. I was very nervous the entire time watching this video. impressive.
Isn't that cool? Thank you! I hope you have chosen to subscribe to my channel and that you will share my video with your social media knitting friends. Happy knitting, Suzanne
Incredible! I wish I had known this when I knit the last cable sweater. Indeed, I only saw the mis-crossed cable after I had finished the whole front and it was at the bottom so I left it. This is really amazing! Thank you.
I was nervous the entire time watching this. Cut the yarn?!! Very impressive. Thank you for the tutorial. Will have to practice this on a swatch before I get brave enough to try it on a project.
Thank you so much for your video, Suzanne. I am a seasoned knitter and still did three cables backwards in a complicated cable baby sweater. I was going to just leave it since it is likely that I will be the only one who can see it, but then I thought about trying to fix it by cutting the yarn. Your video was exactly what I was looking for!
I would never have believed this would work! For some reason, miscrossed cables look so complicated to me. I like the use of the "reverse Kitchener" to mend the stitches.
Such a useful video, many thanks for all the wonderful videos you do they have helped me many times. Now I just have to hope you will do a similar video on how to fix a bobble that is in the wrong column of stitches! (you can guess why!)
Thank you for taking the time, S. I'll let you know, because there's a chance I do it.. it's cutting it shorter I want. I'm thinking threading carefully a lifeline at the right place, then cut, then attach with kitchener stich to the elastic rib. And yes, it's circular knit.... I'm not rushing into a decision.... I also thought trying a lifeline in a swatch...
The swatch idea is good. Do the swatch in the round. It makes a difference on the cutting and grafting. If you just do a flat swatch, you will get fooled.
I am on the fence whether to fix my miscrossed cable. I was thinking I could try to make it lie correctly with a few sewing stitches after the fact. It's not going to be easy to do this, especially with a plant based fibre, where the shorter ends don't tuck in too well. But it's a great technique to know for other yarns. Thank you
Thank you so much for this demonstration:-) Your explanations are very clear and I may be able to attempt cable surgery after watching it a few more times.
WOW! Brilliant... "YW" does it again. If I had funds I would spend $$$ for u to teach me all the correct knit procedures.. (And ur thinking I sure wish she had $$$ ☺️). I didn't know u could correct cables like this. Might do a few swatches doing ur correction. Thanks
LOL, Masz, I love hearing from you. I actually do have virtual classes that I teach. If you go to my Ravelry page, there is a sign up. www.ravelry.com/people/KnittingSuzanne, I must tell you though there is a rather large waitlist. In Ravelry I do have a number of Tutorials available, as well. Have you joined my Facebook sight yet? 😊
@@SuzanneBryan Not a FB user. Just limiting my social media. Luv FB but easy to spend way too much time. I just looking at knitting, otherwise I'm too distracted. Sorry. Will use RUclips for now. So glad I found ur site. U r great!
Wow this is intense! Suzanne you are so brilliant! I have to be honest I would be nervous to try but you make it look easy. Thanks again for your great videos!! I always learn something new.😊
Hello dear Suzanne☺, thank you again for this so very clearly demonstration😚😚 It is the VERY FIRST time that I've understand how this "stitch stitch" works!!!! You have really the very best illustration I know! ! I wish you love and peace for you and all you love!! Heartly GittaLloreley from Germany😇😇💗💗🍀🌈
If I’m using superwash wool, do I need to weave my ends in further? More times? I’m knitting a gift and I’m concerned that the ends will work themselves out and the recipient will end up with a hole.
Nope, super ways wool will stay in just fine. The biggest thing is to block AFTER weaving in the ends, not before. That secures the end. I have a video on this here - ruclips.net/video/jfOKZMmc4cM/видео.html
A wonderful video, as always. My only wish would be to address the terror of losing the two tiny ends. You showed how to weave them in. But what would the effect be if they were pulled out while working the fix? Is there a way to recover the project or is all lost!? By the way, after 3 practice swatches I successfully repaired my Irish cable sweater that I’ve been working on for over a year. And I didn’t lose the teeny ends! Your video saved the day ❤
Do you have a video on how to uncross a cable far down your work? I twisted a cable where it shouldn’t have been twisted and should have just been plain stockinettes in a row.
Suzanne, what brilliant tutorials totally have, im amazed at your skill and didactic both. I've got a question for you: I've finished an all cable jumper for my teenarge grandson, bottom up. Its beautiful but too long. Ive got 2 options: either i frog the whole yoke, then frog some more, then re-do the yoke. Ive had the crazy notion that maybe i can do some surgery, cut it shorter?.your videos gave me courage to ask this... too bonkers.??? ❤ Esme😂.
You do not mention whether this jumper is knit flat or in the round. But I am assuming in the round. It is really difficult to do surgery on the sweater and add length under the yoke, without cutting the whole sweater apart and then adding length and grafting. You may find that near impossible, but not completely impossible. It would be easier to rip back and add the length and then redo the yoke.
Another great video Suzanne. You've made finding what seem like unfix-able errors way way after they're made a lot less stressful for me and many others I am sure. May I suggest a video topic? I am knitting this poncho which is a garter stitch flat piece finished with a seam that butts one end against part of the side. This is a common way to make a poncho but with the garter stitch requires a combination horizontal/vertical seaming that is a little different than if the work is knitted in stockinette. BRILLIANT! You are such a wonderful teacher.
Wow, thank you! ❤️
Thanks for posting this Suzanne. I'll practice this on a swatch before I cut into my actual mistake so I can be confident I won't mess it up further. Thanks Again!!
Good plan, Deirdre! I am a huge proponent of swatching for many reasons, including this one! ❤️

Wow, how nice to hear that this method worked so nicely for you! Well done, T2! Happy New Year, indeed! ❤️
I was on the edge of my seat watching this! I'm glad it turned out well!😱😁
Suzanne,
Thank you for your wonderful clear teachings and soothing calming manner. I’m learning so much from you.❤
Knitting magic! Anything that involves cutting knitting is scary to me but you have proved that I can do it.
Holy cow! You are a wizzardess! Your method of weaving in the very short cut tails is brilliant- and obvious - once I see it done! Thank you for your wonderful work in sharing your knowledge!
You are a life saver.I never thought I would find a video on this subject! Thank you a million times over!
Yay, so glad I could be your life saver! You are very welcome, Helen, and thanks so much for watching! ❤️
Thank you so much Suzanne. I just fixed a cable error on a honeycomb cable about 40 rows down thanks yo your brilliantly clear instructions.
Saved me and my complexly cabled sweater. Thank you!
That is wonderful! Happy knitting Wovenflame R.
Thanks Suzanne! When I go back to your videos I find always something new and useful. I was very nervous the entire time watching this video. impressive.
Isn't it amazing? Thank you! Happy knitting.
Just wow. Holding my breath as you cut it, but this is gorgeous and incredibly informative. Thank you so much!!
Sara McLane no se el idioma pero me gustaria que retiren la explicacion ya que cubre el trabajo todo despues es genial
Puede desactivar los subtítulos si lo desea. Eso está fuera de mi control
As so much easier sometimes. Thank you and happy knitting.
I didn't realize that one should only cut two of the cable stitches, not all four! This was amazing!
Isn't that cool?
Thank you! I hope you have chosen to subscribe to my channel and that you will share my video with your social media knitting friends. Happy knitting, Suzanne
Never too late to rewatch a great video.
I totally agree, Suzanne! 😉
Incredible! I wish I had known this when I knit the last cable sweater. Indeed, I only saw the mis-crossed cable after I had finished the whole front and it was at the bottom so I left it. This is really amazing! Thank you.
You can still fix it. Never too late.
Wow, I had no idea that those mistakes on cabled work could be fixed. You are such a great teacher. Thank you very much!
Yep, and its not hard at all to do it. Happy knitting.
I was nervous the entire time watching this. Cut the yarn?!! Very impressive. Thank you for the tutorial. Will have to practice this on a swatch before I get brave enough to try it on a project.
Exactly. I swatch everything first. Happy New Year and Happy Knitting!

Make a swatch and try it. You will feel like super woman! Happy knitting.
This looks easier than trying to drop down to fix. Love it!
It is, and it makes you feel like a super woman too. Happy knitting.

Amazing as always Suzanne. Thank you. 🤗
Thank you and happy knitting.
THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Fixed my cable- it was a 3 cross so a little bit harder but was able to fix it perfect!!
So awesome! Thank you for sharing. This makes me very happy!
Whew, thank you for this, I just repaired a cable 40 rows down on my Sode Cardigan.
Woohoo! You are now a super knitter!
Wow this is intense! Suzanne you are so brilliant! I have to be honest I would be nervous to try but you make it look easy. Thanks again for your great videos!! I always learn something new.😊
It is easy, make a swatch and try it. You will never worry about missing a mis-crossed cable again, one you have this under your belt. Happy knitting.
Wow. I am scared to cut my plant based yarn though. It's Sandnes Garn Line. Very good technique,
Totally cool and scary at the same time. Thanks! Jana from Purl Together told us about this video.
Glad you enjoyed it, Mary! And thanks for letting me know about Jana, how sweet of her to recommend my video. 😊

you can try this, but if it is really far down, the cutting method is the fastest.

Super cute poncho.

Thanks, hope you are having a good day!
Eeekk! Cutting. I just did a wrong way.
Yes, sometimes it is necessary and it is actually easier. Happy knitting.
