I felt the same way, but then I found out something about the Thor Movies...
They are filmed in the tone of the narrator. Odin narrated the first 2. They were very serious and kingly.
Ragnarok was opened with Thor telling his story to the skeleton. It was meant to be told in a lighter tone because he's recounting his story to the survivors on the ship. He's trying to lead and lighten the mood.
Love and Thunder is told from the perspective of Korg. That's why it's so light and dumb. If you watch it in that light, you'll see all the mannerisms and mentality of Korg.

The goats are part of the original Thor mythology so it's not really random. When it comes to their screams, there are real goats that scream like that.
Love was played by Chris Hemsworth and he's said that while he loved having her in this movie he doesn't want her to become a child actor so he has no plan to have her play the part in the next movie. So they might recast her or age her up or something.

I would have like this film a lot more if they toned down on the comedy and made Thor less like a parody. I miss Thor the way he was before Ragnarok, which had a slightly good balance of serious and humor compared to this. I did like Christian's performance as Gorr. In fact...
There was a god named Thor
Who faced the butcher known as Gorr.
The butcher needed an axe to open a door
But Thor brought him down to the floor.
They eventually made peace at the core.
I did my best, but I can't think of more.

Thor lost his entire family, the love of his life, good friends/Avenger teammates and his entire home planet. At first he fell deep into depression, he beheaded Thanos but that offered little relief so he’s trying to use humor and forced happiness to live on.
Not every character needs to be brooding, or unreasonably oppressive to others (like Wanda). Psychologically this is a good take on how many people deal with tragedy.

First time commenter: My family (Mom, Dad, Teen son, and two younger girls) are avid Marvel movie fans and we friggin LOVED this friggin movie. Yes, it's could dial down the quirky a little bit but on the whole it was a very good **Family** movie. Note: my kids absolutely loved that the Asgard kids got power boosted and went into battle. ⚔️. I was a bit Leary of how they'd portray the "She Thor", but it was so well done that towards end I was absolutely rooting for her 💪.
    Thanks for posting. 🙂

Seeing a naked Thor and hearing talk of orgies is a family movie?

I love Jane as Mighty Thor. Her story in the comics was some of my favorite comics stuff in over a decade. I only wish we could have gotten her for another movie or two.

Behind the scenes....The shadow monsters were designed by a bunch of kids after Taika Waititi was having trouble coming up with ideas, and his daughter drew a crayon picture of a monster for him...giving him the idea to get a bunch of kids to make drawings.
Gor's daughter was played by Chris Hemsworth's daughter.
    Actor Loki - Matt Damon
    Actor Thor - Liam Hemsworth
    Actor Odin - Sam Niell
Actor Hela - Melissa McCarthy. LOL

Actor Thor is actually played by Luke Hemsworth. He’s the older brother. Liam is the younger brother. The Wolf Woman was played by Chris Hemsworth’s wife, his son played Kid Thor and his other daughter played an Asgardian kid. Also Christian Bale, Natalie Portman & Taika Waititi’s kids played Asgardian kids.

The way I took this movie, the ridiculousness of some of the scenes was because it was Korg who is narrating the story. He's telling the story to the kids and those extreme scenes are where his imagination goes a little more wild in the retelling.

I think the beginning when Korg is narrating might be the only good part of the movie. If they had kept that up a little while longer, at least through the silly stuff, then I feel like I could have accepted that as his telling. But he only narrated the first few minutes. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I overall enjoyed it, I feel like we didn't see enough of Gorr and some of the humor didn't land. I thought the goats were really annoying on first watch, but they kinda grew on me. It was nice to see The mighty Thor storyline, but we didn't get enough of it on its own, imo.

My theory on this movie has been that the entire movie is the story being told by Korg. The reason it's seems so comical and or exaggerated is because Korg has a very funny way of turning something serious into something funny. Like in Ragarock when he said he was going to start a revolution but didn't print enough pamphlets. The way it cuts back to him telling the story a couple times makes me think the entire movie is his tale.

The fact the Mjiolnir is enchanted and Stormbreaker is not, is one of the reasons Stormbreaker is so jealous.

I think they had the elements to create something more epic, but decided to go for something more family/comedy related. Still, I think it was a good fun movie and a nice farewell to Thor (for now, until Avengers Secret Wars) and a way to show why he won't be around in future MCU movies.

The girl becomes the God of love as "eternity" basically converts his essence into the "wish" which is the Gorr's daughter.
