What I really like about this movie is the fact that Jane, even though she is not dieing while fighting on the battlefield, still gets to come to Valhalla. (You need to die in battle to get there.) This means that she officially died in the battle against cancer. So the movie is acknowledging that the fight against cancer is a battle on its own.
I think this is showing a lot of respect for everyone who is fighting cancer and those who lost the fight.

I enjoyed this movie a fair amount, though think Ragnarok was by far the better of the two Waititi movies. This one DID come off as a bit too silly, and a little overly hammy, but the thing that saves it for me is that you can think of it as being told by an unreliable narrator. The start of the movie sets it up as a story being told by Korg, so if you take the entire thing as being told from his perspective, it makes the characters feeling a bit exaggerated make sense (to me, at least). @Angelo Barovier That’s cool. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want another Thor film because he’s actually my favorite of the Marvel heroes. But it needs to be refreshing again and I don’t think Taika should come back for a 3rd time. Personally I would love to see Kenneth Branagh return because he did the original film and he’s a great actor in his own right. There are certainly more stories that they can pull from, so the material is not in question. It’s just the way that it’s executed. A lot of times a director can knock it out of the park, but a follow up can be very disappointing. It happened when Sam Mendes did Skyfall for 007. It was an extremely successful film, but his follow up Spectre was met with harsh criticism. And like you, I enjoyed both of them and loved both of them. But he didn’t come back to finish the series. Another director came in to do No Time To Die and it was a great send off for the character. Perhaps it can happen with Thor.

They did do a good job with Odin's death, though. Overall, I enjoyed Ragnarok quite a bit, but I always thought it focused on the jokes to the slight detriment of the story. The thing I am growing to love about Taika is how he mixes comedy and tragedy without any blending whatsoever. This feels a LOT like JoJo Rabbit to me in how it does that, and Hunt for the Werpeople also. Ragnarok is the only of his movies that doesn't make really jarring shifts like that. I can see why people don't like the wackiness, but I find it a coping mechanism for dealing with the tragedy.

Congrats to you and Tyler. I remember being freshly married. Good times.
A lot of people thought it was too over the top, but the best interpretation that I've heard is that because Korg was narrating the story to a bunch of children, it's super extra and cheesy and campy. As if it were a story being told to children.
The oasis at the beginning only showed up because the god Rapu was there to kill whoever had the necrosword.
Personally I loved everything except for the weird muppet owls at the start, but my sense of humor is very much in line with Taika Waititi's.
Mjolnir was giving her the powers of a god when she was Mighty Thor (because of Odin's invocation of "Whosever holds this hammer, should they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor", and Thor's invocation that Mjolnir should protect Jane) which included removing any poison in her body. Chemo is poison, whereas cancer is made up of our own cells. So being Mighty Thor was actively making her cancer worse for the times that she wasn't holding the hammer.

Natalie, my Nugget Queen, it is delightful to see you again. I have finally joined the Nugget Army!
Also, congratulations on your nuptials to, now, the Nugget King (Tyler). I'm also glad to see you enjoy Love and Thunder.
In my personal opinion, this was a very fun movie. Yes, I know it is inferior to Ragnarok, but I still wholeheartedly enjoyed the hell out of the movie.
Christian Bale is one of the all-time greats in acting, and he's my personal favorite Batman. So, the fact that he's in the MCU and played Gorr the God Butcher was fascinating.
Do I wish he had more screentime? Absolutely. Do I think he didn't need to be a little comedic? Yes.
But, in my opinion, he's one of the most compelling MCU villains ever. To me, the energy he had in the movie was equivalent to Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight.
Natalie Portman as Jane Foster aka the Mighty Thor was awesome. While the first two movies didn't really showcase her talents all that well, this movie delivered on everything involving her.
I also adored the hell out of her. I'm sad to see her go, but I'm hopeful for her eventual return.
Chris Hemsworth, despite what others have said, is phenomenal as Thor. Over a decade into playing the character, he has truly found his stride. I can't wait for more classic Thor adventures with him. I know hardcore fans despise this version of Thor, but I have THORoughly enjoyed this character.
Tessa Thompson as King Valkyrie and Taika Waititi as Korg were also great highlights, especially Valkyrie. Now, I admittedly was a little bored with Korg, not gonna lie. Valkyrie, I felt like didn't have a whole lot to do. Plus, I thought she was a little shortchanged in the whole movie.
The Guns N' Roses shout-outs throughout this movie, especially the use of certain songs were incredible. The vibes throughout the movie was special. The music is also beautiful as well. Also, seeing the cosmic entity known as Eternity in live-action was shocking to see. It was also cool to see so many Gods in the MCU. I think they're gonna play a big part in the coming years of the MCU.
Plus, apparently, a majority of kids in this movie was the actual children of Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale and Taika Waititi. In fact, Hemsworth's daughter, India Rose, played Gorr's daughter Love in this movie (she's the daughter that died in the beginning and then resurrected at the end). Also, the wolf lady hybrid in Thor's montage at the beginning was played by Chris Hemsworth's wife. She was the woman kissing Thor in the end credit scene of The Dark World after Natalie Portman departed.
Also, despite what haters say, it is very emotional. The romance in this movie was beautiful. Also, Russell Crowe as Zeus was a highlight. The post-credit scenes, especially the mid-credit tease of Hercules in the upcoming 5th movie, are some of the best in the MCU.
If I have any negatives regarding this movie, it would be the overabundance of the humor (which I personally didn't mind), wonky CGI effects and lack of runtime/character work. I personally think that an extra 10 minutes would have fleshed things out even more (just like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness).
Also, in my personal opinion, I didn't really like the screaming goats. They annoyed me to no end. I also didn't like that the Guardians of the Galaxy, who were shown a lot in the trailers, had stupid little screentime in the movie. It was like they didn't need to be there.
Other than those complaints, I really, really enjoyed Thor: Love and Thunder as is. I have defended this movie to no end, and will continue to do so regardless of what any detractors say.
    I honestly can't wait for Thor 5.

This is one of those instances where I wish they would have stated one thing from the comic that actually made a bit more sense for the cancer storyline. A gross over-simplification: Every time Jane picked up Mjolnir it removed the chemo drugs as "outside poisons" leaving the cancer to its natural progression.
Now WE would say, "why not take out/ fix the cancer too? Duh..." But that's because we can decide to remove malfunctioning body parts. The hammer might view all the parts as natural, even natural malformations that spring up randomly. Mjolnir might not take away a sixth toe, or a cancerous mass, any more than it would take a third arm, a set of wings, or any random mutation, because that's how that person was supposed to be. Or, and hear me out, the hammer might be ignorant of certain details being the weapon of a god. Pretty sure "gods" don't get cancer... Plus, there has to be a dramatic plot device, for "emotional stakes."
Realistically, I can understand them staying far away from "chemo is poison" to explain it, because it's not a good soundbite no matter what the facts are, but "the hammer is saving her and killing her at the same time" just doesn't quite ring true without that added bit of context, imo. Like, that nurse was 2 seconds away from saying anything better, even half fake-medical sounding jargon about how the "good drugs" keep "disappearing" as if by "magic" from her system, but all we got was a "something" and a shrug. And Thor was like, "Ope, must be the hammer." The hammer and...?
"Nope, just the hammer... because." I think they could have replaced one line of dialogue that would have explained it sufficiently, all the details were there. But it's really barely a nitpick, they only omitted a detail, they didn't negate, destroy, or "change the origin irreversibly" and the end result was the same.
And, I swear I saw in the previews for this movie, or a leaked still shot, or a fever dream of imagination, the scene where she first picks up the hammer, levitates in lightning, and gets fully kitted out in front of half of New Asgaard... Ummm WTF? Show us THAT, please. Lol

Imagine if the Guardians knew about Eternity. If they stuck around long enough, either Nebula or Peter would have wished to revive Gamora whereas Drax would bring back his wife and daughter.
I didn't expect for them to be around for much of the movie, but I was hoping to at least get a teaser about where they're headed next. I would assume they're still looking for Gamora on the side, but I know we're getting a holiday special with them soon. It'll tie directly into volume three which arrives May of next year.
Also, if Jane and Heimdall managed to arrive to Valhalla, I wonder if original Loki also made it in. He did try to stop Thanos himself. Maybe that alone qualifies as a warrior's death to grant him entry. At least we still have his analyst double who's no different than the original. He's still our one and the same Loki.
I'm not gonna lie: I was hoping for a cameo from Analyst Loki, but I guess it isn't time for the brothers to reunite just yet. Hopefully we see them together in one of the upcoming Avengers films in 2025. One's gonna be called the Kang Dynasty, and the other Secret Wars. We still have a ways to go, but the Avengers will reassemble.
In the meantime, if you want more Taika Waititi, I recommend checking out this series on HBO Max called Our Flag Means Death. He's an executive producer for the show and he portrays a certain character. A second season is in development.

      Some characters should stay dead.
Also I can't treat Loki variant as real Thor's Loki who died fighting thanos. He definitely has to be in Valhalla

Controversial take, this is in my top 5 MCU movies, it's such an amazing villain that Christian Bale gives us. The comedy for me is perfect, we've been shown that Thor uses comedy to hide his depression and anxiety, so the movie reflects that, the only time that air of comedy disappears is when Gorr is around, he quite literally sucks the life out of it, the colour if you will. I think it's a great juxtaposition. This is also just a fun 80's rock action movie, a lot of the silly things just added to my enjoyment. Especially everything having to do with the kids. Just imagine being a kid watching this and seeing all those others running around with superpowers! I genuinely don't get the harsh harsh criticism for this movie. in my opinion it's just people hating this entire phase 4 (rightfully so) and then not giving anything a chance cause they're going into it wanting to hate it.

I’m torn about this movie. I absolutely love Christian Bale as Gorr and I really loved the climax and ending but the humor missed a lot and Gorr deserved way more screen time. Natalie Portman also seemed so bored as Jane. If her heart was never in it to begin with then she really shouldn’t have come back. Given Phase Four’s track record I suppose this is one of the better movies but I know this could have been so much more.

@@fzoid3534 yeah. They tore down all the previous character development of Thor for jokes. His dad humbled him in the first movie, but yet he is blasting through roofs and destroying property. The destruction of Mjolinir served to show him he is the God of Thunder, not the God of Hammers. A lesson taught by his now deceased father. That was scrapped for jealousy jokes. I could go on, but I think I made my point. I just wish the jokes didn't make Thor do a 180 on previous movies. The jokes in Ragnorak actually developed him. Like him finally accepting what his brother was, and that led to his brother actually being there for him. Or the jokes about the dysfunctional family (his sister) that were actually true. BUT the movie wasn't as bad as some critics and some people said. I am disappointed because it could have been a great movie instead of a meh MCU movie.
