My kids will never know the feeling of placing your quarter in line on the cabinet, just waiting for your turn to prove yourself and take down the reigning champ at something like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter 2.

I’m a kid but I have still been to arcades, the games are much newer though, yeah they are fun but I would just rather emulate older games on my computer.
That’s why I’m going to build my own arcade cabinet with my dad helping me build the frame

@@mazef8836 there was an element that you just can’t replicate via emulation. Going to the arcade there were crowds of people around MK 2 and SF2. You’d have to wait in line to play and many people would be watching you. Was just an amazing time. I still remember seeing my first fatality in MK2 and everyone in the arcade yelling and running around cuz everyone was so hype lol good times..

Awesome video! I used to frequent a Fun n Games in the Boynton Beach mall with my Father and Brother in the early to late 1990's and were great friends with the owners. We would play Spy Hunter and Tempest sit downs, X-Men 6 player, TMNT Arcade, Simpsons by Konami, Bubble Bobble / Bust a Move, Pinball machines such as the Twilight Zone among a load of others cabinets. When I was in my pre-teens I remember watching gamers play Mortal Kombat I and II - There were large groups filling the arcades just to showcase their skills and fatalities! Then came Killer Instinct (cheap, the pros could beat you with one chain move) and my favorites Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men Vs Street Fighter and Tekken Tag (we placed quarters on the machine dash to hold our place.) This generation will sadly never experience the thrill of a new arcade cabinet swamped by players; there was no internet to see what was coming out so every new machine was a surprise! In the 80's / 90's Arcade cabinets were in many Hotels, most Movie Theaters, sit down Table Tops like Pac-Man / Burger Time (waterproof surface to rest drinks on) in restaurants (Bennigans), Bowling Alleys (Gauntlet) and there's nothing like teaming up with total strangers to win a team game (i.e. Konami X-Men)! Going off topic, brought up Great memories! Thank you for the upload!

@@wittyexquisite That's cool, I remember the Alladin name but don't remember visiting one in the Delray Mall (their movie theater had a giant blimp sign when you walked in above the food kiosk)! Pompano Mall (I think it was called Fashion Square Mall) had an upstairs food court and an Arcade just down from it, I think you took the huge ramp to park on the roof of the JCPenneys or Sears building :-) The Aventura Mall had an arcade too, wish I could remember their names! I had braces worked on at the dental land in Boynton Beach Mall, would go to the fun and games there all the time and the husband-and-wife owners were nice people, they would tell us what cabinets they were getting in! When they close down they sold all the cabinets super cheap, most for like $100 each. I was too young at the time but would have bought some, of coutsr you really need a ton of room to store those huge cabinets

Awesome. I run an arcade in London, England and there is a community because no one caters to current gen gamers these days. This really took me back to being a kid in the 90s just before and after SF II was big. Arcades are making a resurgence by people who grew up then and are running their own places now. People in this industry know little to nothing about games because they don't play them! From the arcade sellers at trade shows to the operators who buy them. It's so frustrating.
I hope we'll be able to keep the arcade gaming scene alive, so people 20 years from now have fond memories of the 2010's.
