    Thanks to this video I got this watch a couple of years ago. Such an amazing piece of engineering! Funny enough, it died on me after I put it in the same pocket as my stupid Huawei phone. The hands froze, probably due to magnetism. The digital display still worked. But get this... I kept it on my kitchen counter for timing food in the oven. Six months later the magnetism had faded away and it works again like normal!

    Well done, the menu you entered at 10:30 isn't documented anywhere. You have to hold down bottom right button and press top right twice. I believe it's a test for radio frequencies. J4 seems to be the 40kHz Japan station, J6 the 60kHz one, L is for London, G is for Germany, and U is for US. To get out of the menu you have to press the light button twice until the display says NG (probably "not good" meaning the watch didn't detect the frequency it was looking for), then press the mode button.

    • @MyLifeOfficial
      @MyLifeOfficial  4 года назад

      Thanks, that's very helpful indeed!
      Although my watch syncs with radio time every night in the UK. It never synced time automatically in Spain, Greece or Portugal. The watch didn't change time in any of these areas (of course the workaround was just to select the appropriate city from the menu, but would have loved it if it did it automatically), would you have any insights as to why this would be?
      (Please note, I was in major cities rather than in remote areas)

    • @LMF5000
      @LMF5000 4 года назад +4

      @@MyLifeOfficial I believe it's as the instruction book says - it depends on the home city you set. If you set your home-town to the Paris time zone for example (PAR) it will try and sync with the signal from London and from Germany. If you set a Japanese time zone like Tokyo (TYO) it will try and sync with the Japanese signals only. And so on. So for it to sync you have to manually set the correct time zone for the country you're actually in, and then it will try to sync with transmitters geographically close to you. I don't believe it automatically detects and switches timezones like a GPS watch or a smartwatch because the radio signals used by this watch contain only time and date data and not location data.

    • @MyLifeOfficial
      @MyLifeOfficial  4 года назад +3

      @@LMF5000 Ok, thank you, that makes sense.
      So it's more a feature to ensure accuracy _after_ you've told the watch where it is, and so what signal frequency to detect rather than auto change the time wherever you are.
      Having said that, although I can't remember exactly, even after setting it to the correct cities for those countries, I don't think it detected the radio signal every night the way it does in the UK. But that's something for me to test more thoroughly on my next holiday.

    • @LMF5000
      @LMF5000 4 года назад

      @@MyLifeOfficial yep, indeed. It syncs atomic time to keep it accurate, but you'd need a watch with GPS or Bluetooth to auto-detect timezones. I have a favour to ask :). I'm curious what the colour of your watch face looks like in sunlight. Could you take a video outdoors and angle the face around to give an idea of the colour at different angles from close up and far away? I got the LCW-M100TSE for myself because it was titanium and sapphire, but they only make it with a black face. I'm wondering whether I should've gotten the blue one like yours because I love blue watches. I bought online from Japan so didn't have the chance to look at either model physically before buying.

    My Casio came in a plain Casio paper box, the manual was in Japanese, the warranty is only good if you live in Japan, and the watch itself was already programmed in Japanese....once I Americanized the watch, it behaved better and is operating correctly. Love the watch, set it and forget it..... very independent self sufficient watch that you need to keep expose to a light source and not in a lead box (so it can connect with the Atomic Radio Wave clock).

    I live in Tanzania, which is in Africa. Does Tanzania use atomic time even though it doesn’t have its own atomic clock, like some countries such as the United States, Japan, China, and some European countries?
    The answer is yes, Tanzania adheres to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which is based on atomic clocks. While Tanzania itself may not have its own physical atomic clock, it relies on the international network of atomic clocks to determine UTC.
    So, I believe the Casio Lineage’s Atomic Time feature can work in any part of the world that uses UTC. I intend to buy the watch (I like the 2023 model, which has no side pumps and looks elegant and classic), which is why I did a little research on it.
    One thing that bothers me though is how to adjust its band since no tool for this purpose is included in the watch box.

    You say you bought the watch because it had at lesst 4 alarms. Good luck with that, I've had 3 and they are virtually inaudible unless you hold the watch up to your ear. On a wrist or a beside a bedtime table you hear zilch. Loads of people are complaining about it.

    • @MyLifeOfficial
      @MyLifeOfficial  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks very much for your comment!
      I agree here with you Mike. They are not loud enough at all to wake someone up from sleep, and that's the first thing that comes to mind when we think of 'alarm' with a watch.
      Having said that, it's about as loud as wrist watch alarms go, apart from smart watches that may vibrate.
      However, these relatively low volume alarms can still be useful for someone who needs to do something at particular time(s) of the day. E.g. taking medication at specific times of the day. That sort of thing.

I think the only thing you didn't really talk about was the quality of the construction, was it all stainless steel, how was the clasp quality, the weight and you didn't mention if glass was sapphire which i think it is (which is very good at the price).
