Great to see the Casio Lineage line getting a review. I own one and couldn't be happier. To get titanium, sapphire crystal, solar, atomic sync, ana-digi with perpetual calendar, lume, LED, world time, timer, stopwatch and alarms, and standard lugs allowing swapping bands, all for around $200 is an extraordinary value.
I can't find a shop here in the UK who sells the Casio Lineage line .. would have thought that I could buy one from the Jewellery Quarter which is near me. 🤔🙄
@@nightlore000 I bought mine on eBay from a seller in Japan. Their rating was perfect, shipping was fast, and the price was very good, so zero problems. Only downside is only a Japan warranty, but the risk is low, and so far it's still working perfectly after 2 years.
Hey, I really wanted to buy this watch..I am from India, and not finding any lead that from where can I buy this..Any lead or guidance will be appreciated .kindly help.!
I have an older original wave-ceptor version which has always been my favourite watch, not much more you can ask from a watch, never needs a battery, virtually impossible to exhaust the solar (any kind of light) charge unless you forget about it in a cupboard, radio controlled time. digital functions and smart, tough, RELIABLE. My only gripe was the light, much better in this version, my original has a more busy dial so seeing the hands in v poor light was difficult to contrast. In my mind this is a big advantage over the earlier version just for that reason, this has a slightly more modern look but I wont give up on the older model yet.-
I have a similar model Lineage and really like it. I'm not sure there's a better value watch anywhere. Price/performance/features is just amazing. Solar, atomic radio sync to 6 world wide frequencies, titanium, sapphire crystal, LED, 29 time zones, DST, day/date with perpetual calendar to 2099, alarms, timer, stopwatch, GMT, multi-language, only 9.4mm thickness, standard 20mm lug width so easy to swap bands. All for under $200 is a crazy good value. Glad to see it promoted.
It's crazy the amount of features they packed into this watch. The titanium is the real kicker. This watch is so light and durable I never have to worry about it. Definitely my favorite!
@@WatchingCasio You're right, it is the materials and design that put it over the top. Casio offers the same feature set on models under $100, but with metal/plastic cases and mineral crystals that are also thicker. Of course style is a matter of personal preference but for me the Lineage line is a real sweet spot.
This is a problem with a lot of vintage digital watches. But calendars repeat over time. For example the year 2100 has 365 days and starts on a Friday. It shares the same calendar layout as the year 1999, 2010, 2021, etc. Just set the year on the watch to a compatible year and you're fine.
Casio is a genius company. I have the Sapphire Edifice and it is a quite comprehensive watch. Now I want a lightweight one of titanium and can't seem to find any that tops this, for the price range.
Mine is definitely the Casio Oceanus OCW-S100. Just an incredible watch for excellent value. Though the Lineage and a couple of G-Shocks are my regular rotation.
Great review, I'm in Australia and just bought this watch direct from a Japanese online store. It arrived in 3 days and I think it's stunning. While the multi band time sync doesn't work down under there is an app you can get on your phone that mimics the signal and works quite well but takes a couple of minutes to sync.
Hi, I'm in Australia too, I'm thinking of ordering one from Japan. I was wondering about the multi band sync, and thought if there was any point getting one because it wouldn't work here. What's the app called?
@@PinkishB31 The app I have for iPhone is Clock Wave. There is also one for Android but can't remember what it was called. I'm now using a Raspberry Pi zero as I found a program that runs on that and does the same thing and is a bit neater but you need some soldering skills. You need to set your home city to Tokyo on the watch for any of these to work, if you set it to Sydney it will never sync.
I've had this exact model for over a year now, ever since I read your "Probably the best watch ever made" video. I took it off briefly to wear another watch from my collection. In terms of looks, my preference is a thin gold dress watch with a brown leather band, but I almost immediately missed having access to the day and date that the Lineage watch provides and put it back on. This watch kind of makes the thirty or so watches I have collected (and even one gift vintage rolex) pretty redundant. Thanks for alerting the world. Let us know when Casio makes a version of the lineage that looks like the classic dress watch I fantasize owning.
Thanks for your great review! I note your rv is now several years old but very helpful. I had not until recently known about the lineage line of Casios given they are JDM watches (Japanese domestic market) Never seen one here in Australia. Have picked one up from a Japanese online store and although we don’t have access to the atomic clock calibration here in Australia all those features outlined make it a great value proposition 👍
I purchased this watch due to it's self sufficiency, provided that it get a dose of sunlight, and it is kept in an area where it can communicate with the Radio Atomic Wave clock, it will be the one timepiece that I can calibrate all my watches and clocks to. Has lots of other features and functions, however, I like it because you set it once and pretty much forget it.
Sweet trick with the finger over the LED to light up the LCD. I don't think I'd come up with that myself... It's really a shame the LCD doesn't have a proper backlight though, bucause then this would literally be the perfect watch for me.
Have a stainless steel model. No hassle watch, always on time, automatic adjusts to DST. Solar and radio wave synching. Looks good, and is nice to wear. All you'd want from a watch
Watching Casio I am really liking my Lineage. Casio also uses the 5110 module in some other watches which incorporate composite material in the lugs. The all metal Lineage just seems more up-scale. Mine weighs 117 grams, sized for my 7 inch wrist. The dial on mine is a little busier, but I like having the additional information presented on the LCDs and the function sub-dial, such as the power level.
Great review on this gem of a watch! I wear mine in the office and use my GW-M5610-1 for everything else. The LCW looks great on a nato strap too if you want to switch things up a bit strap-wise. Enjoy!
I think Casio is one of the world’s best watches. I had them since 1970’s. I have never had one fail. That would include the lovely model your showing. Other fine watches would be Orient and Seiko. I truly don’t know why people spend fortunes on so called luxury watches. They are not as reliable and in my opinion they look nice but so does the above brands if you want to spend for that. Take care of it and the watch will end up with your next of kin.
Nice review. I've got this watch in blue with stainless band and it's my go to. I have seiko and citizen, but imo you can't get a better watch for the price than the casio. It's the most comfortable to wear as well.

Beautiful watch ... I have a number of Casio wave ceptor .. very good, and never needed to change the battery in any of them ... I have one 20 years old not a wave ceptor, just tough solar. In the manual it says that it takes 5 minutes to recover from a single illumination operation. That most likely means few seconds of using the led to illuminate the watch. I doubt that a solar sell of that size could fully charge any reasonably size watch battery within such a small period.
I have a stainless steel LCW-M100DSE which I picked up, pre-owned but rarely used. The bracelet was not brilliant, so put it on a vintage style strap. It's a white face which looks like oyster shell, fantastic sunburst finish
Great timepiece! Thanks for sharing. Btw, you misspoke when you called this seconds hand "swip" @ 14:02 It is obviously not a swipping motion in this case. Cheers.

Thanks for the heads up. It seems to be unavailable from Australia, and only available new in Japan. I have tried my luck with a bid on a s/h item from USA
A great watch, but if I went for a jog or played fetch with my dog, the minute hand would lose a minute or two and un-sync from the digital display time. The reset/resync process takes ages and requires lots of button presses. I returned it after it happened 3 times in 3 weeks.
You got a good deal for the price. I just bought the same watch (New on Amazon) but with a white dial. I paid almost $300 for the titanium version. Mine was shipped from England. The lineage model was meant for the European market if I'm not mistaken. I also have a blue Wave Ceptor watch (Essentially the same watch). Both watches have the same 5161module. The hourly chime is extremely weak though. Most people would not hear it unless it's about a foot away from their face. If I were to make this watch better, I would have installed micro Tritium vials on the hands and markers and installed a screw on back (instead of the back with a simple o-ring and 4 screws) to make it even more water resistant. I also would have made the watch a bit bigger so it would look better on a larger 8" wrist like mine. Both the blue and white versions look stunning.
I just bought mine in Japan and it is pretty nice and lightweight. But I think it needs a few more holes for micro band adjustment and I wish it's easier to adjust the timer (up and down) since I'd like to use it more. Overall, I'm digging it, except the part of it being cased in China as I'm Taiwanese.
I have two Casio tough solar watches, one like in the video but with a white face and a g shock version for work, both radio controlled. They never disagree by more than half a second ! These watches are as good as you can get in practical terms, but if you are wealthy and want some male jewellery then get a Rolex or a Patek Phillippe!
Interesting that you see it as a dress watch. I got one for the same role but hated the band, so I put it on a green perlon and now it's a field watch as much as any.
I have one of these as my daily driver, there's no other watch that can replace it - it's so good I just sold my Rolex Submariner and my Explorer II because I was no longer wearing either of them. It's about as close to perfect as any watch can get. I wear it swimming regularly despite its "only" 50m WR and it's been perfectly fine. Easily the most comfortable watch I've ever worn thanks to its low profile and light weight, and I love never having to worry about its accuracy or even to adjust it when the clocks go forward/back.
Give it diamond coating, slide micro-adjustment on the band, negative LCD, LCD illumination, increased timer and stop watch limits, allow setting seconds on the timer, numeric setting of timezones, and don't change anything else. Then this is going to be the best watch ever so far.
Great review! I just bought one of these. My only complaint is the bracelet. Do you have any recommendations for a solid link titanium bracelet upgrade?
I consider myself a huge Casio fan-- have four G-shocks and a few of their other models. That said, one of the reasons I am a fan is because of what you get for not a lot of money. All things considered, I really have a difficult time paying $150+ for one. If I'm buying a watch in that price-range, I'm probably going to go with a Seiko or Citizen... Fwiw, I feel the same about Timex. I have a few of those as well, but just can't pay $150+ for something like a Marlin or Mk1-- no matter how cool I think they are... 🤔
Is the clasp really titanium? I think that "Titanium" word on the clasp is referring to the band itself, not the clasp! Also, though my preferred face color is blue, this very dark brown is nice as sell. It's definitely not black!
Great I just Ordered seiko! I wish some One would demonstrate the The alarms sound I find them useless Because u can't Hear them at Least the ones I have tryed ".
Also sold in Germany from Zeitlounge a.k.a Watch-Shop.com for us in the UK. www.zeitlounge.com/en/casio-radio-controlled-lcw-m100tse-1aer-mens-wristwatch/a-107152
I am torn between this and the sister model with the arabic numerals (1A2JF). I like how easily readable numerals are and I genuinely like how they look but this one just looks fantastic. If I had the money I would get both
Yeah...u dont see these often because they have to be imported from japan. Wave cepter versions are cheaper in price. 630 model looks exactly the same... but the band is poorer. No links on the 630... the link is adjustable without tools... but since its adjustable... the metal band is... bulky and likely off centered unless your wrist is the perfect small...size...
Question, is the other models like LCW-M100DE titanium as well or is it only the TSE that is titanium? Also is it worth paying 50dollars more if the TSE is the only titanium option?
for TSE, T stands for titanium and S stands for sapphire glass. So DE model doesn't offer a titanium case and bracelet and sapphire glass. Also there is DSE model that is almost identical with TSE, only has steel case and bracelet and some dial differences.
Wow. Nice watch. The light is the icing on the cake. I can't underage why only Times and Casio offer lighting standard in their watches. Every watch should be water resistant to 100M, have a Sapphire crystal, and a light.
Would you know about the lineage model LCW-M100DE-7AJF? The crystal type says “inorganic” and I’ve never heard of that term for watch crystals. I’m wondering if that is a euphemism for mineral cause it sounds better.
This is a really nice watch, I think I prefer the LCW-M170TD-1AER. Similar at first glance but It has a nicer case profile and I find the chapter ring on these a little cheap/plastic looking.
Thank you for sharing it. It’s a beautiful watch indeed. But did you say that it comes with five languages? How do you circle through them? And which five languages? Thank you for your reply.
This looks like it's the closest I can get to what I want - except the silly tiny display. I asked the internet if I can has this one and it said no, they don't sell it in my country :/
@@WatchingCasio Cool, thanks for the reaction. The oceanus is even harder to get here and is waay out of my price range anyway. It looks like I can apparently get the m100-tse for quite a bit more than the 200$ or some m100-DSE which looks similar, just steel. I've been using Databank 150 that's older than me for years, that's why I'm used to seeing whole date. They started falling apart and weren't the most practical anyway, so I was looking for something (way) less nerdy. I like the two displays of WVA-M650D but they're plastic glass :/
How loudly does the watch tick? I'm used to digital watches and this looks like a great analog option for me, but I sleep with my watches on and can't stand loud ticking! I can't find this info anywhere. Thanks, great video!
you need to be somewhere really, really quiet or to have it right against your ear. You'll never notice it. Not surprised you cant find offical info. The casio site itself is disgracefully empty of any information about watch features. It's as if they don't want to sell anything. Perhaps interpreters are too expensive!

I have a 6.5 inch wrist and I worry that this might be too small for me but you have 6.75 inch wrist. When I tried the 40mm orient kamasu it looked too small this one is even smaller now I am lost since it looks fit on your wrist.
@@WatchingCasio Mine just arrived, unfortunately even with the singular micro adjustmnet removing one link makes the watch too tight, and not removing one means it's just too loose. Other than that, the watch is perfect.... What to do?
These Wave Ceptors are actually really tempting due to the great features even if I already own a 2000€ Swiss automatic. However, the damn timer is only 60 minutes which isn't enough for even bloody cooking let alone anything serious.
Hi, I have a quick question. What does happen when you let the stopwatch run for more than one hour? I would wish for it to just continue and start at 0 again. Is this an expectable behavior in general from watches or is every manufacturer doing things differently?
@@WatchingCasio Hi, thanks for the quick response. I just checked the linked manual. It states the expected rollover behavior of starting again from 0. Sorry to bother you.

I love this!! so cool. great video
Glad you liked it!
Amazing piece
More micro adjustments would be great, I agree. Still a really nice watch for the money!
😂
Just ordered one. Now its 221.00 bucks but still seems like a good value to this watch collector.
I'd have to agree with you there!
wow! what made you choose this over any of the watches in the Oceanus line? I really like that this watch is only 40mm.
@@jasonschwartz8507 lower cost, smaller size, greater functionality
@@taoistgoth Awesome stuff!
Good to read that 50m WR report, as I swim avg. 5x/week. Going forward with ordering, thanks.
excellent review! thanks.
Really like this one!
Nice review!
Love the watch, and the review! If buying a watch on ebay, should I be concerned whether it's genuine or not?
Beautiful watch.
Give it diamond coating, slide micro-adjustment on the band, negative LCD, LCD illumination, increased timer and stop watch limits, allow setting seconds on the timer, numeric setting of timezones, and don't change anything else. Then this is going to be the best watch ever so far.
And if you want to add… add 100m of water resistance and better lume!
Great review! I just bought one of these. My only complaint is the bracelet. Do you have any recommendations for a solid link titanium bracelet upgrade?
Thank you! And no, I don't have a specific recommendation but they are pretty standard lug widths so you should be able to find something that works.
I think there is a black bracelet and black face casio wave ceptor as well its called LCW-M170DB-1AER
🤔
Good luck finding a sapphire titanium Citizen for this price point though
Is the clasp really titanium? I think that "Titanium" word on the clasp is referring to the band itself, not the clasp! Also, though my preferred face color is blue, this very dark brown is nice as sell. It's definitely not black!
Great I just
Ordered seiko!
I wish some
One would demonstrate the
The alarms sound I find them useless
Because u can't
Hear them at
Least the ones
I have tryed ".
bracelet is junk ,don't call that antireflective coating please. second hand is not visually marked, those are my issues, ty for this review
Been looking for such a watch with those features. Great review! Only sold on ebay?
You can probably find it on other sites, too.
Also sold in Germany from Zeitlounge a.k.a Watch-Shop.com for us in the UK.

Thanks for video. Can you adjust seconds on countdown timer, or only minutes?
Only minutes.
@@WatchingCasio Thanks
Fantastic value
I am torn between this and the sister model with the arabic numerals (1A2JF). I like how easily readable numerals are and I genuinely like how they look but this one just looks fantastic.
If I had the money I would get both
Yeah I went back in forth but in the end decided against the numerals.
I have the 1A2JF and really like it. Excellent watch and an amazing value.
When you press all 3 buttons simultaneously, it shows a zero. What does this mean? What does it do?
Wow. Nice watch. The light is the icing on the cake. I can't underage why only Times and Casio offer lighting standard in their watches. Every watch should be water resistant to 100M, have a Sapphire crystal, and a light.
I want to buy a watch and I want your opinion please. Casio or Citizen ? Thanks
Been between this one and the one with numbers ....have not made up my mind yet.
Would you know about the lineage model LCW-M100DE-7AJF? The crystal type says “inorganic” and I’ve never heard of that term for watch crystals. I’m wondering if that is a euphemism for mineral cause it sounds better.
I'm getting this for myself.
A great watch but it's sometimes pretty difficult to observe the second hand!
Just checked Ebay link? There's many watches for sale all the same make and all new, So why is it there are varying prices????
Great review. One question. Does it tick loudly? I have an aversion to loud ticking watches, like Timex's.
Cheers
It does not tick loudly.
@@WatchingCasio thanks mate!
The languages are really only for the day of the week. English, Japanese, German, Spanish and Chinese.
This looks like it's the closest I can get to what I want - except the silly tiny display. I asked the internet if I can has this one and it said no, they don't sell it in my country :/
I got used to the display and now I wouldn't have it any other size. Have you looked at the Oceanus line at all? Like the Oceanus ocw-s100-1ajf?
Not loud at all. I never notice it honestly and often times I sleep with watches on.
@@WatchingCasio Excellent to hear, thanks for the reply!
you need to be somewhere really, really quiet or to have it right against your ear. You'll never notice it. Not surprised you cant find offical info. The casio site itself is disgracefully empty of any information about watch features. It's as if they don't want to sell anything. Perhaps interpreters are too expensive!
Hi. I am having a problem getting the watch to show the day and date on the display. No matter how I toggle the menues or the lower right button, it circles me back to the local time. Can you help me please?
11:16 Even to this day I'm losing sleep over that link, wondering if it held or if the watch had been lost shortly after the filming.. 😟
Ha it's totally fine :) still love this watch.
@@WatchingCasio Well, good to hear, that's a good new year's start so :) Happy new 2021!
(just got mine yesterday of all days.. happy camper, love it! Still hasn't toned down my thirst for that Oceanus S100 tho.. :| )
Did you have to remove a link? Can it fit an 8” wrist, or will that require adding links? Where can links be found?
In Brazil 200 usd is a lot of money.
Does it use one or Two batteries?
Gorgeous watch.
One rechargable battery. Yeah, I know it's a lot of money 😔
@@WatchingCasio wow recharchable battery!! It Worth each dolar. Love it!! Best regards from Brazil, Mário.
I have a 6.5 inch wrist and I worry that this might be too small for me but you have 6.75 inch wrist. When I tried the 40mm orient kamasu it looked too small this one is even smaller now I am lost since it looks fit on your wrist.
Definitely won't be too small unless you like wearing huge watches. Go for it! I still love this watch.
@@WatchingCasio ordered one now thanks a lot
@@WatchingCasio Mine just arrived, unfortunately even with the singular micro adjustmnet removing one link makes the watch too tight, and not removing one means it's just too loose. Other than that, the watch is perfect.... What to do?
Is there also a version with a blue dail ?
Hmm, I don't think so.
It tells the time as well!
These Wave Ceptors are actually really tempting due to the great features even if I already own a 2000€ Swiss automatic. However, the damn timer is only 60 minutes which isn't enough for even bloody cooking let alone anything serious.
Ha, good point. The other features make up for it. It definitely is a cool watch.
Pasta, Steaming stuff, boiling stuff, idk
60 minutes timer is a bummer, but despite this the watch sounds for me like a best value4money one watch collection.
Im so mad the m300 doesn't include saphire like the m100 line does.
Does the seconds hand hit the markers?
It does. That's a pet peeve of mine too!
@@WatchingCasio Good to hear!
Hi, I have a quick question. What does happen when you let the stopwatch run for more than one hour? I would wish for it to just continue and start at 0 again. Is this an expectable behavior in general from watches or is every manufacturer doing things differently?
Not sure - I would suspect it just rolls over and keeps counting.
@@WatchingCasio Hi, thanks for the quick response. I just checked the linked manual. It states the expected rollover behavior of starting again from 0. Sorry to bother you.
It will run continuously restarting from zero every hour
Great watch for this price,
Does your version allow for a kanji day display?
Does it have solid links and end links? I'm not expecting it to have that but it's casio we're taking about
Nope, they are folded.
@@WatchingCasio honestly this is too good to be true anyway. I'll probably buy this when I get my finances right.
the casio wave ceptor line is even cheaper than this and they have the same features except for the sapphire crystal
True! I'm doing a waveceptor review shortly. Nice watch!
How does Neobrite compare with Luminova ?
