Update: Via patch 1.05. The nerf to fingerprints 100% Guard boost was an accident and has been reverted. 100 guard boost and no stamina drain are back!
Yeah I definitely hate that they patched this it's like leave the game as it is so we can just play the game I was wondering why it wasn't going up to 100
Not really a big deal it still blocks most of the stam drain. As long as you are not a brain dead coma patient you can block the attacks let off block and regain stam.
Any great spear will do tons of poise damage. Moghs is probably the best after 1.04 but treespear has holy dmg and it can be buffed with grease or spells. If you do want to use spear I would actually suggest the cross-naginata as it has innate bleed but you can customize the ash of war so you can put like ice spear and proc cold or up the bleed with seppukku
Serpent hunting spear that you get in the volcano manor demigod boss room is also great as it does great poise damage, but so does any other great spear
Been working on a Goat Tank build and I can't wait to try this out! Everything has been somewhat easy to grab and I'm mostly just waiting to progress the story a bit in order to get the thumbprint shield. Really eager to try out the shield crash ash though!
If you’re high enough level I’d swap out the ragadon scoreseal with something else bc it lowers your total ent negation, same with the erdtree favor. That’s if you wanna go straight tank at least

u might wanna look into the medika tear cristal thingy that lowers the carriers equip load, i havent tried the limits of it but it seems to straight up make u play on light equipment load for 3 minutes REGARDLESS of whatever ure actually carrying

Definitely strength and endurance. So you can hold the shield and wear all the heavy armor. And enough faith to use the immutable shield spell. After that it’s your choice. Dex for more spear damage. Vigor so more hp. Early game their is a great shield called that “Gilded Shield” dropped from a knight in front of the Greatfront Ruins. It’s a decent alternative to the fingerprint until you can get it
@@DarkKiller-0 this build is sadly nerfed by the 1.04 patch, though from what info i've seen it's still viable, just impossible to get 100% stamina loss reduction.
@@fireblast133 this is true. You’ll have to be more careful when using stamina while attacking to make sure it’s not low. Besides that it should still be mostly safe. Getting hit only takes a little stamina
It’s ok against him. A larger health pool would be recommended so you can survive more of the damage over time. Morgotts great rune and other hp buffs help
I killed elden beast with this build yesterday. Just hold block and walk through everything. Poke him over and over. My summon died immediately after Radagon and I solod elden beast with this exact build (serpent hunter spear)
@@loreto1851 he easily 2hko me with this build. Worked against everything else, but in Ng+ he scales to your level. Had to use full Holy defensive gear to survive anything and can barely get near him
@@Steve.Maverick odd, I was ng+ yesterday when I fought him and he didn’t do as much damage as you are saying. I’m leveled to 175 so maybe that might be it. He also didn’t spam his holy attack as much besides the Elden stars one (easy to dodge if you just jog in a curved line) shield blocks everything thing else though with the proper talismans and scaling. Only real issue is the repeated waves of gold he does, this fight is mostly rng with this build.
@@loreto1851 lol I’m level 450 and he was absolutely wrecking me with every attack, I couldn’t even heal in time. Every hit, both physical and holy was doing at least 60% to me. I had to switch to a holy defence incantation, the best holy Armor set combo, the holy defensive shield from haligtree, damage negating wondrous physick and talismans (all totalling 90% holy negation) and I still barely won with a mimic tear and 12 healing flasks. He honestly made malenia seem like trash by comparison. I beat her and every other boss in the game without taking any damage basically. Elden beast was leagues above everything else.
I think I made the volume too loud. It sounded fine in my editor but apparently RUclips comprehension hurts the audio and this was the result. I’ll definitely keep that in mind in the future lol

@@DarkKiller-0 there is a more obscure reason, you know you can roll bleed or frost, if you are at i frames? Well, that is not aplied with madness, the animation starts always, thats why with lag its just a beast

But you should make sure that your base equipment load is at the minimum so if the 3 minutes runs out you aren’t over encumbered

Try to do a no damage build, use a talisman that increase the damage you take, just take the bullgoat talisman or one that give more hp.

why would u need poise or damage negation while wearing this shield ? U just need resistances against non-physical
There will be times that you get hit. The resistances are to make sure you can tank hits that you couldn’t block

Immutable Shield does not buff guard boost...
It makes your shield immune to magic damage. Usually magic attacks would damage your character through the shield.
