Indeed. My parents used to take me to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia via this "distressway" when I was younger, but then they found a quicker way down Chestnut Street. I also had the opportunity to go on a "Ramble" about three years ago, but that was in Utah.
Nice! One of the "Reading Rambles" fantrips, run through the early 60s while some of the T1s were still on the property and serviceable. I believe they used 2100 and 2102.
Interesting, I didn’t know Reading 2100 was running in ‘62. Also, out of curiosity, did you film these, was it a relative, did you just find this footage?
You have to love those old Rambles. One thing's for sure, that passenger train was the safest way to go on the "Sure-kill" Expressway!

The Reading Iron Horse Rambles (1959-1964)
Thank you for the upload, I recognize that stretch of the sure kil.
I remember doing this in the same place as a kid with my father in his '59 Chevy

Funny freight trains don't even go that fast on the reading main anymore. They putz up and down the line at 35 miles an hour
Make more of these! It's 2022!
2100 is being restored
