YES!! The 1970s AM and FM radio airwaves were a veritable cornucopia of musical styles and genres performed by a plethora of artists and groups that refused to be pigeonholed! You couldn't twist that dial on the radio without hearing something fabulous. We were spoiled!
I know! Looking back and what happened to music after MTV in the later '80s, '90s and beyond, I can't believe how bad music has gotten. I was in bands in the '90s and 2000s and I noticed many of the bands back then made a point of NOT connecting with the audience. Sometimes they would even turn their backs on them. I think this was indicative of the total attitude back then in music. It was sad to see that.

Shannon, my mother and I saw Pablo Cruise during the Worlds Away tour. I lost my mother 20 years ago. Glad this song touched you. Our mothers are smiling. 🙏
@@Imadrummin Absolutely. Thank you. One of my favorite memories with my mom was a concert too. She loved Al Green and I was able to take her to see him for her 50th birthday. I talked security into letting her go to the stage. He took her hand and sang to her a bit. I thought she might pass out she was so happy. I'll never forget it.
Goodness I haven’t heard this for decades! It got overplayed cuz it was SO POPULAR in the 70s when it came out and so I got very tired of the song. However…what a pleasure it is to hear it again with “fresh” ears. It’s such a neat song❤️
Took a road trip the day after I graduated high school in 1978. My older sister, younger sister, brother-in-law and two of his brothers went to see Pablo Cruise at Carowinds. They had two shows (we went to both!) and during one of the shows it started raining while they were playing A Place In The Sun, so they changed the lyrics to A Place In The Rain :-) BIL got some really good pictures of them, too!
You will love "Lido Shuffle" by Boz Scaggs. I searched your channel and don't see it. Give it a listen. I just found your channel tonight. I'm knee deep into your reviews. I'm so surprised you haven't heard these songs before. You've really missed out. So glad you're catching up. The 70's were an amazing time for music.
Pablo Cruise is not a guy, it's a group from San Francisco, five guys in all originally. The lead singer is David Jenkins, who also sang lead on their other big Top 10 hit (in the U.S.) "Whatcha Gonna Do." A fun-sounding late '70s group.
The band got hired for a show. When they got off the plane the radio station that hired them was waiting for them. It was a black station, not knowing the band was white. They all had a good laugh and the show went on with out a hitch.
@Harri Music Reaction , that voice is David Jenkins and also the guitarist. What a talent. Cory Lerios on keys and the glue on these songs, Steve Price on drums (love Steve's drumming) and the badass on the bass is Bud Cockrell. This was the core group. They later went through some changes on the more recent albums (mainly bassist and drummers).
Great request Imadrummin. By this album, Bud was replaced by bassist Bruce Day. I think he may have been a member of Santana at one point. Another strong bassist and vocalist. I got to see Pablo with Bud years back when he briefly returned to the band.

@@Imadrummin I envy you for seeing them in their prime. 1978 was a superb year for music, when so many bands were in peak form. Pablo Cruise amazes me because they are a four-piece that sounds like they have three extras. I attribute that to their great arrangements. No wasted notes. Also, Dave Jenkins was such a great guitarist, playing complex lines while singing. Cory was a dexterous pianist and I loved that they sounded so lush with stripped down parts. The band Utopia was like that as a 4 piece unit. Everyone pulled their weight.
@@DropAnchor1978 I agree with you 100%. I was lucky. Every member in Pablo Cruise are truly gifted and did make every note count with perfection. You also mentioned Utopia. One of my absolute favorites I use to work for Poblo Cruise back for a short time in 1986 so needless to say I heard this song all the time, but it was always spot on and it never got old. They always had that sound like 10cc , Player even a little Dr.Hook( ish) and somewhat like Journey in their later years. I was a big fan of Earth ,Wind and Fire and I always wondered what it sound like if they had covered it ? Would have also loved to hear Rush do a spin on it.
