I love this! I interviewed Al a couple weeks after this for a magazine profile. He said he was still floating from the experience. He also said it was one of the greatest things that had happened to him in his career.
Isn't Bruce just the cutest Friend Ever? This is a good reminder to not take ourselves too seriously ,and be confident that a friend will not hurt Love.
Bruce is so very gracious. He's been one the biggest rock stars in the world for over 35 years (He was on the cover of Time & Newsweek, in October, 1975. That's, ah., let me use math..., I think, over 35 years ago. He writes one song for a motion picture and gets the Academy Award for best original song (which puts him with... oh, Over the Rainbow and The Wizard of Oz). He sells out arenas and stadiums all over North America and Europe, 1999-2009, and he's still modest and down to earth.
Just saw Alejandro do a show where he spoke about this and how terrified he was to be up there in front of 30,000 people getting showcased. The song was pending release, so it had yet to be performed. He was so afraid of screwing up, especially with Little Steven giving him the Soprano eyes...
You can see Bruce loves this song…sounds like a song Bruce could’ve written. Would love to see him perform it in concert…and stretch it out to 7-8 minutes.
I have a few of Alejandro's CDs and they are excellent he can rock with the best but he also has a quieter side,my fav song of his is 'Anchor' all the best Alejandro.
What i love about this video is explained by Alejandro in another video done by Escobedo and his song writing partner at a small club . He states he never expected Bruce would actually have perform on stage and was scared shitless by the size of the crowd . He wanted to run but lil Stevie faced away from the fans keeping him in place with the "Stare" of those Soprano eyes. That;s something you can see all through the video . His original thought was Bruce only wanted his permission to use the song , not that he expected a small club singer to perform it at a stdium size event

I've loved this song for a long time and always thought it would make a killer Bruce song. Imagine my surprise when I saw this...

So much respect to Mr, Springsteen and his band prior to this, but even more so for this wonderful showcase of an otherwise underappreciated artist.
