Real Animal, which featured Always A Friend as its opening song was released in 2008, so the song had been around three years prior to this Paramount Show. Also, the Paramount has a capacity of 1600, so there are at least two factual errors in Ace Johnston's "review". Thanks to the MagikRat for posting this!
Thank you for this video. I have an Always A Friend in LA He is always a friend and does not run back to his ex wife. He is a pretty solid friend. Nice Shirt
He was very nervous to be up there in front of 30,000 people playing a song that had yet to be released and having Little Steven be giving him the "Soprano eyes" that silently said screw up and you're dead.. He nailed it though, and Bruce is just the consummate gentleman and artist then and going forward toward Alejandro. Funny side story about this - Escovedo and Chuck Prophet are always in a one up competition with each other. At the time of this show, Prophet was in Sweden at the Nudie Jeans company where he was given loads of clothes. When he contacted Alejandro to rub it in, since they both really like the brand, Escovedo referenced a certain you tube video Chuck might want to see...
WHAT? LEAVE A BITCH HANGING? WHERE'S THE VID? COUGH THAT SHIT UP. Alejandro far surpasses Bruce when it comes to songwriting. The man is one of the best of all the best. Maybe THE BEST. I vacillate depending on the day. I LOVE the story, thanks! Want to hear the rest....But the part about Stevie and the Soprano/Lilyhammer eye is priceless. LOVE that Bossman was nervous to play with Al. As it SHOULD BE. :-)
@@rnrpeg1 I absolutely love Alejandro...and have several of his albums and have seen him live...but to suggest he is a better songwriter than Springsteen is absurd...and bordering on humorous.
@@keithlacey9221 I'm glad you get a kick out of it. I'd rather listen to Al's songs every day of the year. Bruce is...well he cops a whole lot from others and doesn't like to give credit when it's due. I also USED to be a huge Springsteen fan, many many moons ago. I do believe Escovedo is far more interesting - and he stands the test of time much better than this boss of yours. heh Music is subjective, last I checked. Aside from that, Alejandro is part of a family that is a musical anomaly. The Escovedos are a phenomenally talented bunch, having been either seminal members of, or originators of, several different GENRES of music. Huge kudos are well deserved in this instance. Get off the Shore, brother. ;-)
Discovered Escovedo some years ago..
Springsteen is old favorite.
Interesting to see them together.
Really like this song. The fact Bruce joins in makes it so much better!
Awesome! Two of the greatest artists (not stars) on the planet!
Two of the greatest singer/songwriters -- ever. Many thanks for posting this!
Great stuff as always and great memory as well 🤠 thanks for this
This is a very charming video. A girl just could not be upset with such a charming soul in such a
manly man western shirt.
I really love Bruce in this shirt. WOW!!! I saw the beach shots of him shirtless. I said, "son of a beach who knew that was under his shirt"
Bellissima performance!!!grandi!!!😇😇😍😍😍😘😘😘🎸🎸🎶🌟

Yes, but that isn't this performance, of course. It is a fun story, though.

You can't buy friendship, anyway.
Reminds me of Tom petty
