- The brakes on the Kawasaki ZZR1100 have got multiple problem from broken castings, knackered front calipers, seized master cylinders and more. All of which need sorting if I'm ever going to ride the bike...

Always intrigued how people are nervious about doing engine work but happy to do the brakes which save their arse. You do good work Quickie, Those callipers are outstanding. I enjoy the channel.
Thank you matey. I know what you mean as well. I've never split the cases on an engine before and the thought of doing so is a bit unnerving... but Its going to happen with ASBO and the SRAD. I'm quite looking forward to it now 😁👍
Interesting what you say about tools. If you need to borrow more than twice then buy one ?
My Grandad had a slightly different take on the same rule, if you need to borrow more than twice, then you just keep it !

Yeh, you could go into CEF or the like, and ask for a roll of extruded penny !
when doing them top hat things always drill the hole first as the drill on thin wall sections like that as the drill will want to force the material out

Coming along nicely...I hope bleeding the two pot calipers is easier than the 3 pots on mine....Quick ask...what make battery did you use?..mines just died ...
They are being a proper pain I'm afraid, but we'll get it sorted... the battery is a Powerline gel battery 😁👍
What!! Rebuilding brakes with no copper grease on everything 😂🤣. Great video as per usual, bet you can't wait to get it on the road.

The problem with that caliper is, it doesn't have dust seals. A mate of mine changed his for a suzuki one that had the dust seals. Cant remember which model but they were a straight swap with no modification needed.
There's provision for them matey as I robbed the ones of the rebuilt but broken caliper, they were just missing for this one.... or maybe its already been swapped for a caliper with dust seals... I'm not sure 😕 🤣
those brake pistons.. when replacing seals , Heat is ur friend, heat the buggers up , then stick the airline on it ..the seals go soft ,,, and will pop ..you will be surprised at how much they will take to move !
The airline is always my friend with those pistons, but I'm definitely goingbto make an adaptor that fits into the banjo hole as that really helped free up one hand and get max air into the thing. It shouldn't take very long either 😁👍
The clutch lever not coming back to the bar, did you find out what it was, did exactly the same on my brothers GPZ900R. Turned out after doing master cylinder rebuild, done loads in the past but simple error caused what you experienced, i had put the push pin in the wrong way around, so did not sit true in clutch lever. Not all the way in. :-) i know your video was made a while ago but just thought i would mention what mistake i made, may help someone else out from making same mistake. Thanks for video, Vinny.

Another great video! You gave me the inspiration to get my own ZZR1100 D7 sorted. full carb rebuild, shimmed and runs really nice now. I bought it as a non runner, apparently there was a loud bang and it stopped, then smoked badly on restarting. Ethanol had corroded the float needle so badly it had pushed the rubber cone off! Flooded the motor with fuel. I suspect the smoking was the increased oil/fuel in the crankcase and it had blown into the airbox. ZXR400 project now :-)

You could have just skipped the bushings in the calipers, That way You would have full-floating calipers in all directions - X, Y and Z! LOL...🤣
