Did i just read you've never had a pair of engineer boots in your hands prior to these? If I read that right then pretty mind blowing. I can already image the 10th pair, if you ever make more, being near perfect. Thank you, from an aspiring shoemaker ✌️
I can't remember where, but I saw a video once of someone welting with tubes of leather around their little fingers, like thick rings or fingers cut off a glove, instead of athletic tape. I tried them for saddle-stitching some non-shoe projects. Faster and more fun than the awl handle. Perhaps you'd like them.
Thank you so much for sharing your process! I’m a leather crafter aspiring to get into boot making and this is the most helpful type of resource around.
Great video! Liked and subscribed! I was wondering for my own research purposes what you are putting on the toe puffs at 26:40? I figured it was either some sort of conditioner, an adhesive to attach it to the upper or a a product to stiffen the leather. Any information helps thanks!
Wow.. really applied nearly every good construction technique. Honestly i was expecting a nail down heel, surprised you went with the 360 but you pulled it in tight at the heel. They look great though, the dying came out nice. Heel finish looks a little rough though. That rectangular crease you created down the vamp is.. unusual. Not bad just different, usually when you see that the line is s bit sharper. Interesting backing the leather shank with the thin steel too. Also nice job on the holdfast.. Good hands, from what i could see you didn’t wheel the f*** out of the uppers either. That always drives me crazy. I’ve wondered why that is 🤔 i imagine some machines allow you to adjust the tension on the guide and some people crank it up when stitching. Nice work though and forgive me if I’m critical but I’m just giving you honest insight from a collector/enthusiasts. The thread work.. Like damn, tedious stuff. I’ll have to check out more of your stuff. I’m sure a pair is pretty expensive and justifiably so, screw the materials it’s the labor bro. I don’t think most people understand the effort that goes into making a pair (a good pair) of Handmade boots🤷🏻♂️
Hey @coleone139 thank you so much for your great feedback. That's really important for me and I appreciate it very much. In fact I've never got some engineers before this pair in my hands. Thank you my friend. Greetings from Germany, Dennis
Would you mind sharing an engineer pattern with me? I keep having difficulty getting the proportions correct. Not interested in production, just trying to get a feel for the craft to see if it is really my thing. Great work
Awesome craftsmanship. I found your channel through reddit. Your workshop is very unique. Have you seen or found lasts in Germany that still use a metal plate along the whole bottom for clinch nails?
i really like it. but i wonder what you used for as needles? i tried curved matteres needles but they ether break way to soon or deform so i cant make the tight turn of the awl. Thanks in advance.
hi!im french and i made 2 paire of shoes,i would like to make this boots...question where did you by your thick leather insole?here you find only 4,5 mm max...thanks

Thank you very much. Glad to hear that. If you got any questions you can contact me.
Where on earth do people find the lasts for all these boot styles? I’m dying to get into the art but finding lasts has been the greatest challenge!
Take a look at Spenlé for example.
Amazing work !
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it. Wish you a great day,
Dennis

This is a great video, but if you could do it while explain every part it would be awesome!
Thank you very much. Glad for your comment.

Hi sir. Thank you for your comment and your kind words. No, I don't have found those last yet. But perhaps Spenlé offers those last on request.
Muy buen trabajo
Thanks for the video! May I ask where you got the last?
Thank you very much. The last is from Spenlé in Germany.
Why do all the shoe makers scrape the leather a bit? And with glass shards? Thanks
You have to thin out some edges of the leather. And with a piece of glass you have a good control and it's a cheap tool!
i really like it. but i wonder what you used for as needles? i tried curved matteres needles but they ether break way to soon or deform so i cant make the tight turn of the awl. Thanks in advance.
Thank you very much. I use twisted metal needels which are very flexible.
hi!im french and i made 2 paire of shoes,i would like to make this boots...question where did you by your thick leather insole?here you find only 4,5 mm max...thanks
Ask tannery Martin in Germany. I buy my leather there.
How long does one pair of shoes take?
I think 40-50 hours. If I make the pattern work even more.
What makes them engineer boots?
Civil engineers used to wear these types of boots when they would survey landscapes..
Hell no!! I would be to afraid to walk in them. They belong in a showcase!!
Hey thanks for your comment. Why would you be afraid to wear the boots?
@@kustomkraftworkshop8593 dude they are just too good looking to mess up!! Nah I'll rather save them....
@@drevil4454 🤜🤛 thanks my friend!
@@kustomkraftworkshop8593 how much would pair cost?
@@drevil4454 depends on the leather. With the hand dyed like in the video that would be 1300usd.
