1. Als Jesus Christus in der Nacht,
darin er ward verraten,
auf unser Heil war ganz bedacht,
dasselb' uns zu erstatten.
2. Da nahm er in die Hand das Brot,
und brach's mit seinen Fingern,
sah auf gen Himmel, dankte Gott,
und sprach zu seinen Jüngern:
3. Nehmt hin und esst, das ist mein Leib,
der für euch wird gegeben,
und denket, dass ich euer bleib'
im Tod und auch im Leben.

the supper of his passion.
2. With hands yet whole he took the bread
and with his fingers brake it,
gave thanks to god with lifted head,
and told the twelve to take it:
3. Take, eat, this is my body true
that for your good is given;
know here that I abide with you,
and ye shall live in heaven.
