I think it’s the best sounding exhaust not only for this 6.2 but for a lot of other vehicles out there as well. That h-pipe really has that nice deep tone which I love🔥

Matt, I love to watch you do your own mods. Its a great tutorial for those of us that still like to wrench on our own vehicles. Exhaust looks and sounds amazing. Let us know if you’re able to adjust the mufflers sideways to eliminate the partial hanging below the frame. Great work!
Thanks! I'm sure I could flip the muffler that hangs lower, but that would require some cutting a welding.

AWE killing it in domestic market lately. Have it on my 3.6 Jeep Gladiator, albeit nowhere as badass sounding as this. Makes me want 5.3 or 6.2 Silverado

Just got this for my AT4X AEV. Got to do some modification beacause of the AEV package agressive skid plating, but it just sound SSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD. You should have recorded some Low mode downshift. Downshift in low mode sound soooooo good. Record it.

Sounds great. Really informative. You may want to purchase a Range Technology DFM/Auto stop plug in device. plug it into your OBD port to turn off the DFM and auto stop. They are a couple hundred bucks I think. I have one on my 2020 TB 5.3 LT and it works flawless. Keep them vids coming !!!

I love it. Will definitely get one for my ZR2, if I ever get it. Ordered it on 3/24. Its now sitting in the Mexican desert near Silo waiting for parts to finish. Question: Have you had any issues with paint peeling/chipping around the hood scoop or bottom of doors? Great ZR2 videos! Keep 'em coming

You might have sold me on this exhaust. I’ve been waiting to see what borla comes out with for the at4x, but I was looking at this system. I want the truck to be quiet when taking long road trips, but ruble when I step in it. The fact this doesn’t drone interests me. 107 seems pretty loud though lol

Sounds good but honestly the borla on my truck sounds just as good. You can’t go wrong with either setup.
Borla makes good stuff. I was told the Borla on the ZR2 isn't very loud though. Is yours a ZR2?
@@matt13ross I have some exhaust clips on my channel. The Borla ATAK is stupid loud if you take off the resonators. I left mine on because I daily drive this truck and I’m often in real quiet neighborhoods lmao

How much did you pay for this exhaust, or was it given to you by AWE for review? I have the Borla on my ZR2 and they sound similar on cold start, but the AWE seems louder when you get on it. Glad to see you took the time to clean up the cuts with a file. My only issues with this exhaust is the low hanging mufflers, having to cut the stock y-pipe, and the the added weight of dual pipes and mufflers. Looks very well made!
They gave it to me to test. I wouldn't call the mufflers low hanging, I'll show them in the next video.

Haven’t heard the Borla in person. AWE is loud but also doesn’t drone.
My biggest problem is the lack of an X pipe for scavenging and how far the mufflers hang down since I'm actually taking the rig through trails. However I DO appreciate them tips bruh

Yup, nice H pipe in there! I'll have to get better footage, but it hardly hangs down below the frame. I may even be able to turn them sideways, but I haven't dug that deep yet.

If you were removing the stock system before you did the delete would you still have to cut in front of the muffler? Doesn't look like there's a way to get the stock system out without cutting.
You can get it out without cutting I believe by dropped the transmission crossmember.

Not a fan of how the mufflers hang below the frame line. If going offroad the mufflers will definitely hang up on a rock or two. However, the sound is awesome 👌
They don't hang down much and I may be able to turn them sideways. Have to look into that.

Sounds great but the price is crazy high $3000. I have a 21 trail boss with mbrp cat back exhaust, at a fraction of the price and I don't have drone. It Sounds awesome though
MBRP makes good stuff too. This exhaust is expensive, but not $3000 lol.
2019 5.3 true dual no mufflers. No drone and only $500
Compared to the muffler delete, on the outside is the truck louder or about the same? I want this exhuast for the no drone aspect but I currently have mine muffler deleted exactly like you did, and its about as loud as I want it to be on the outside but it drones terribly.

To bypass the DFM, drive the truck in L9. V8 the whole time.
I bypassed it by selling the truck.

Hey if you throw it in L9 on the tranny it seems to lose the DFM BS, just threw a 40 series flowmaster on my ZR2 and the L9 loses all that DFM sound
Honestly I can't hear it in the cab, so it doesn't bother me. But yes, I believe that would work.
Just wondering if you waited one year without buying a Silverado zr2. Which one would you consider having? 2023 Colorado zr2 or silverado zr2 bison edition
I don't want a Bison unless is way different. I don't want to pay a bunch of money for ugly bumpers and skid plates. I am excited for the 23 Colorado ZR2 though.

Do the mufflers hang lower at any point? Don't want to lose too much ground clearance.

Overpriced (assuming close to $100k), still has 33s, lame IMO.
Put truCk in 9th gear and won't dfm noise .
Can't hear it inside so it doesn't really bother me.
I’ve tried many setups and true dual without mufflers has been my favorite and it only ran me $500. Your setup sounds good but nowhere near $1700 better.
But I imagine duals with no mufflers had terrible drone?
@@matt13ross I can hardly hear it when I’m cruising. I had flowmaster super 10’s with an h pipe and it droned way worse. My current setup is nice and tame until I hammer on it. Cruising at 70mph I’m getting 66-67 decibels, but it’s just noise coming from my 35” mud tires

Hi Matt, now that you have had the exhaust on the truck for five or take 2 weeks now, how has it been? Has it settled? Has it broken in and gotten louder and deeper? Has the quality gone down and would you recommend this still 2 weeks after buying it over borla? PS don’t get rid of the ZR2 Silverado keep it keep the L87 376ci v8 going she sounds so good!

I'd imagine they sound similar. Both 6.2 push rod V8s.
@@matt13ross except one is supercharged the other is not. it sounds like a fair race when you put a stock zr2 silverado against a 702hp off road beast. i've already seen a glacier blue zr2 get the gap by a stock trx on 37's and it was brutal. trx won zr2 lost
If I decide to long travel my truck, the next mod is a supercharger for sure.

Unsure, haven't researched them yet. Whichever is more cost efficient and easier to install. Probably Pro charger. I don't need a bunch more power, 100 extra would be fine for me.

I never understood a exhaust system on a vehicle with a automatic transmission. I like mine on vehicles with manual transmissions.....
Sounds better with at manual but can't get trucks that way anymore.

Curious about your comment about wasting money on Borla....it's cheaper than this setup and Borla is a reputable exhaust company too.
You're not wrong, Borla makes great stuff. From what I've been told / read, the Borla on the ZR2 is a little underwhelming sound wise. Plus it's still a single exhaust, not a dual exhaust like the AWE. I think the AWE is worth the extra cost.
@@matt13ross fair enough. I am honestly looking for something not super loud, so a little tamer might fit the bill for me. AWE did sound great though.
What's great is, it's nice and quiet on the inside, which is very important to me!

Just wait, I’ve had mine on for close to 1000 miles, it gets better, almost tunes itself…2022 trail boss midnight edition 6.2, looks great with the 4” quad tips, try driving it in L9, cuts out the DFM I think….
