I love your enthusiasm. The fact that you were able to keep my attention for a nearly 20 minute long video to explain two words in depth is why I subscribed. Gracias Ana
I work with a wonderful lady from South America and your lessons have helped me to actually talk to her a bit in Spanish! It was a lot of fun and she had a good time laughing at my terrible accent :) Thank you so much for these great lessons!
I'm beginning to learn Spanish a couple day ago, and of course I learn by myself. I think your channel is a wonderful place for me to learn. Thank you very much! Have a nice day.
Wow. Estoy en shock. Muchas gracias por tu generoso apoyo. Te lo agradezco con todo el corazón. Muchas gracias. Te deseo todo lo mejor. Que este año este lleno de salud y alegría. Muchas gracias de verdad y con todo mi corazón. Tu donación me inspira y me hace muy feliz. Gracias.
Anna ! watching and learning Spanish through your videos regularly . You are God gifted and awesome ! Your body language oozes so much of confidence and positivity …. Stay blessed always.
Anna, soy un gringo viejo y yo quiero aprender español y yo quiero decir muchas gracias para tus vídeos! :-) I really love your amazing skill at teaching, and will continue to watch your videos, buen trabajo! I had Spanish more than 30 years ago and conjugation of the verbs was my weakness and you are helping a lot. Thanks for you discussion of the meaning of VOS I hear that a lot from my wife's Guatemalan family and as simple as it sounds I always thought it sounded weird now it makes sense. Muchas gracias Chris
I really enjoying your lessons in Spanish I have tried so many RUclips channels yours is the best for me as a new learner!! Keep up with your good work friendly smile!
I liked this lesson very much. You answered a lot of the questions I had for these two verbs. I recently found your channel and your instructions are fun, and instructive in the way most people speak naturally. Not like the books! I look forward to lessons now.
¡Hola! I am German and this is the first lesson of yours that I watched. It was very easy for me to follow both the Spanish and the English parts. I really appreciate your careful way of enunciation and the charming, entertaining way of presentation. It made it a joy to watch and learn this lesson and I am sure to catch up with your earlier lessons. With your help and duolingo I will hopefully become a decent Spanish speaker soon. ¡Gracias!
Thanks, love all your videos. I am a nurse and work with a mostly Spanish speaking population. I never really understood why patients would always say in English, I drank my medicine even when referring to pills. Now I get it.
I'm glad I stayed to the end becuase all of the side notes and extra tips really help; like I didn't know if had to know every single word in order for the different Spanish speakers to understand me. I do feel comfortable learning just enough to get away with for now but I would love to add the extra details when I get better.
You add your heart and soul while teaching which I find truly wonderful and I enjoy learning Spanish from you very very much! Thanks a lot and you are the sweetest ❤ God bless you.
thankyou so much for your videos, you have addressed a lot of the points that i was confused about! i am learning spanish as my husband is from Peru and I particularly love the way you mix up spanish and english when you are talking this is good for my learning :) muchas graciassssss!
As I was watching this I realized that we sometimes use "tomar" in English too.. Waiter/ess: "What would you like to drink?" Patron: "I'll take a Pepsi" Or "Let's grab a beer and catch up sometime!"
All three of these videos are super helpful! you are personable, easy to listen to and with your awesome personality I find it easier to remember xoxo Muchas Gracias Amiga
Wow I just recently discovered your you tube and you have been teaching on here a decade plus! ❤ thank you for so many useful lessons. Your personality and fun craziness has gotten even more developed over the years😂❤
Estás la más linda profesora que he visto en vida..... Anyways, tus vídeos están muy bueno y aunque están para estudiantes nuevos, todavía me gustan y aprendo mucho de ti! Tengo un amiga de Chihuahua México y cambiamos mensajes de text para aprender, pero un día ella dijo "tomar" para decir "drink". Era la primera vez que alguien usó la palabra tomar en lugar de beber y yo estaba confundido lol. Por favor continúe a hacer más vídeos! Muchas gracias!
I don't know how to thank you so simply well I thank you so much for making Spanish easy to lean for India like me . we are thankful to mam , you effort is really valuable and worth. gracious once again
Thanks. Finally I know the nuances between these two verbs. Have been a little confused for some years and was starting to figure it out on my own from immersion, but now it is perfectly clear. Love to see lessons on the indirect and direct object pronouns including order of placement. If you already have, sorry for asking since I have just come across your lessons and subscribed and haven't fully explored all of them yet.
I am glad you show other verbs or uses of words from other countries. It helps me when I come across them in written text. I use to try my Spanish on Cubans from Florida like the word (llegar) to arrive or (pollo) chicken . He would say no the word is pronounced like jegar or pojo then I learned that it was there accent from Cuba. Thanks you are really good at teaching.
Estoy feliz por eso. Tengo ganas de tomar contigo más. Me llamo Richecade y yo vivo en Haïti. Eres un buen maestro. Just keep it the good work and nothing Can stop you on your way teacher and you're too talented.
Wonderful stuff. I've learnt more Spanish watching your videos over the last few weeks than several years before. Recent changes in how people order things means we have different meanings in English too. Polite and original way to order something like a drink would be "Can I have" or "I would like". Now some people, often younger people will say "Can I get". This sounds awful to me but is widely accepted now.
It is almost the same thing in italian.. the verb "prendere" (to take..) and the verb "bere" (to drink). One would say "Prendo un cafè" (I'll have[take] coffee). "Prendo l'autobus" (I'll take the bus) One would also say "Bevo un cafè" (I'll drink coffee - in a bar or restaurant when asked). The difference would be that you will not say the verb "Bere" to be emphatic or a bit formal, one would use it to just be specific or just because of preference. Both verbs are treated almost as equals when one is to consume something. Love your videos.
Your classes are as clear as your English! And the way you do it is amazing! Congratulations, I'm gonna follow all your videos! Saluti dall'Italia! (Greetings from Italy) ;)
Hola Ana- gracias por sus lecciones. Soy abogado en las Estados Unidos. Nací en Puerto Rico, pero venido a las Estados Unidos cuando era niño muy joven. Estoy trabajando a aprender español, y me gustan mucho sus vídeos. Mateo
i live in turkey and in our school we have 2 Spanish exam first term and 2 Spanish exam second term. in school im the only one who's all Spanish exams are 100. i cant believe but its true and i know its just because of u i love u ♥♥♥♥♥
Emma Nayira Spanish has two simple past tenses, the preterite and the imperfect. "Estuve" uses the preterite, while "estaba" is an example of the imperfect. You use the preterite (estuve) when you talk about something that happened once or that happened more than once but had a specific end, whereas you use the imperfect (estaba) for habitual or repeated actions. Some examples: Estaba (non-specific range of time): "I was in the kitchen" = "Yo estaba en la cocina" "I was sad" = "Yo estaba triste" Estuve (specific range of time): "I was in the kitchen this morning" = "Yo estuve en la cocina esta mañana" "They were here" = "Ellos estaban aqui" "They were here last night" = "Ellos estuvieron aqui anoche" I hope it helps 🍀

Hola Ana- gracias por sus lecciones. Soy abogado en las Estados Unidos. Nací en Puerto Rico, pero venido a las Estados Unidos cuando era niño muy joven. Estoy trabajando a aprender español, y me gustan mucho sus vídeos. Mateo
Mattew "Estados Unidos" in Spanish y male, you should say Los Estados Unidos, and not Las Estados Unidos, do you understand?
i live in turkey and in our school we have 2 Spanish exam first term and 2 Spanish exam second term. in school im the only one who's all Spanish exams are 100. i cant believe but its true and i know its just because of u i love u ♥♥♥♥♥
I'm learning spanish and I have a hard time deciding which form of the last tense to use. For example estuve vs estaba.
Emma Nayira
Spanish has two simple past tenses, the preterite and the imperfect. "Estuve" uses the preterite, while "estaba" is an example of the imperfect.
You use the preterite (estuve) when you talk about something that happened once or that happened more than once but had a specific end, whereas you use the imperfect (estaba) for habitual or repeated actions.
Some examples:
Estaba (non-specific range of time):
"I was in the kitchen" = "Yo estaba en la cocina"
"I was sad" = "Yo estaba triste"
Estuve (specific range of time):
"I was in the kitchen this morning" = "Yo estuve en la cocina esta mañana"
"They were here" = "Ellos estaban aqui"
"They were here last night" = "Ellos estuvieron aqui anoche"
I hope it helps 🍀
Thanks....i just learned something new before I am off to sleep..
Exactamente.
Asî es.
Estaba.
Estuve.
«Estaba viendo un video» (non specific)
«Anoche estuve viendo un video» (more specific)
Muchas gracias Anna.
Much love from north africa
Zoo K Gracias, saludos desde México.

Someone arguing about saying, "beber" vs. "tomar" reminds me of when a person would say, "I don't know, can you?" if you use the word "can I" instead of "may I."
That's an accurate analogy. Both ways to ask are acceptable, one is slightly more proper.
