This Speed Hiking video series is about a Community Hike in which I covered 287 km from Lonavala to Mahipatgad in Ratnagiri. Each video episode covers the events of one day of hiking.
Day 01 was all about exploring the famous Duke's nose and then reach the settlement of Kalambh which acts as the base for Anghai Dongar. The North Sahyadri traverse has added great value to the present mapped network of the Western Ghats.
What are "Community Hikes"?
I (Manav) make a two week long speed hiking plan. The trails chosen are all new to me and I make a realistic plan and further break it in a day to day schedule. Then I invite people to join me for free so that they can get exposure to the outdoors and they can overcome their perceived barriers.
We hike as co-trekkers as the trails are new for everybody (including me).
I teach offline navigation and other crucial aspects related to independent hiking on the go. Once the trip is finished, I put all the trails on the map so that other people can hike in future.
So Community Hikes are basically trips to discover and maps trails across India. I usually do the whole route and people keep entering and exiting each day as per their time availability.

Welcome back to the Sahyadris. Glad to see these places again through your lens.
Thanks a lot! More videos to come.
Just curious shouldn’t the nasik region be north sahyadri? Regardless good content 👍
Yes, you are right
But if we look at the Sahyadris the whole of Maharashtra will be North Sahyadri. The state of Karnataka will be comprising of southern sahyadri.

What an amazing sunrise that was 😍🫶💕
Indeed
How often do you take water on such sunny days while trekking?
It depends on the availability of water along the trail. I usually can go without water for upto 20 hours if required.
