    Love it!
    1:18-1:30 - YES!
#1 - Overconsuming faster than we declutter! YES!
I had to truly STOP purchasing unless I absolutely need it (i.e., creamer for coffee, loaf of bread).
    I am the same way!
    GREAT VIDEO!
I genuinely feel better without shopping/consuming so much and so much less stress to deal with new items.
I will say this a hundred times - I wish that I learned these concepts sooner.

I noticed that when I went into a small store or boutique shop and maybe the owner was there, I felt guilt for not buying something. Thinking they would wonder why none of their stuff was what I was looking for. Maybe just me, but I had to work on this. I began to know it was fine that I wasn’t buying anything. I didn’t need to buy so they felt better about their store.

♥ Fortunately, I'm frugal and content with what I have so overconsumption isn't an issue for me. There's only 1 RUclipsr I unsubscribed from because of overconsumption but, if I had a shopping addiction, I'd have to stay away from channels that constantly do hauls and over the top decorating videos.

You might as well be describing my husband. That’s exactly how it was for us! I also replaced things in the same way. I started curating our things instead of replacing, which really helped us become for minimal.

Curating. That's a behavior I've started after my initial round of decluttering. I'm down to 4 handbags. Only genuine leather (bought second hand!) I got rid of all costume jewelry and asked for only sterling silver or white gold if someone wants to buy me jewelry as a gift. Quality over quantity!

Yes, I've found that even over-buying groceries wasn't actually helpful, so now I only buy what I'll need that week. This week I needed more flour, pasta, frozen strawberries, and cherry tomatoes. I already have so much that this is all I'll need for the week, I'll have strawberry sorbet, burrito bowls, broccoli and pasta, cereal with milk, and lots of other options for meals and snacks.

❤️ Becky, I loved this. This idea has been on my heart so much lately. What good is it to clear stuff out if I’m only bringing more stuff in? I was in Target the other day (shooting b roll for a video ironically) and it took all my self-control not to walk out with an armload of stuff! The struggle is real! 🤦‍♀️

Hey but you did it! I've found that when I go in places like Target or Craft stores I can't get a cart hahah I can only buy what I needed because I only have my 2 hands to hold things 🤣

❤❤❤I’m definitely going to watch the documentary that you mentioned. I’ve been working on the over consuming faster than we declutter for the past 6 weeks or so and the progress I’ve been making has been incredible. I’ve had a complete mind shift and almost never buy anything extra at the store anymore. I try to stick to the list only. This is incredibly difficult at Target especially, but I’ve learned to avoid the home and Hearth and Hand sections😂

    ❤ I need this encouragement.
I’m also in AA. when I joined, I thought “everyone “ needs a twelve step program! AA encourages us to use these principles in every area of our lives. My sponsor asked me to do a “forth step” (inventory) on my house to deal with the overwhelming amount of clutter. ❤

Hard question for conversation ideas… you mentioned that your infertility sadness made you buy to feel better. Does empty spaces externalize an internal empty feeling? They do for me. I never found hobbies/activities that I enjoy like my spouse or kids but I think the overly house I keep is a symptom of that.
This reminds me of widows that keep buying after husband and kids are out of the nest too.

I can identify very much with what you’re saying about wanting to feel happy and using consumerism to find that elusive feeling. It’s been my battle since I was a little girl and soothed myself with stuff. This makes a lot of sense.
And I really laughed when you showed your husband - with about 10 drills!!! 😂

Great video! One things that help me to bring less stuff is to make a file on my computer where every time I buy a clothing item or accessories, I would enter what it is , price, brand, color and have a notes section.
I do this in the Excel so that I can see the total price. if I decluttered something I would grey that Item out and I would keep the decluttering value column as well, so I can see the value of all the items that I have decluttered. I
only do it with clothes and accessories right now just to set up the system. I am doing it since 2021. In the notes section, I write what I like and don’t like about the item so fast forward 2024. I’m pretty clear on what works for me. What doesn’t work for me? How much money I spent and how much money I wasted.
I am thinking about doing the same for household items. I definitely have a weakness for linens and pottery….. 😂😂😂

I’m looking round at all my craft supplies, thinking I don’t need it all!
After 8 years of decluttering, why do I still have so much of certain things, it overwhelms me; I know that but I still go to the shops for fun.
I can feel Another round of decluttering coming on, with even more thought put into it - and less browsing the shops cos there’s Always something to tempt me.
    Just subscribed!
