  • Karen Charles, event specialist for Husqvarna Viking, demonstrates how to bind quilts using piping. Her first hint is to test the piping for shrinkage using a steam iron. Karen uses a binding foot on her sewing machine for this technique, but recommends using a zipper foot if a binding foot is not available. She also shows how to create a scalloped edge to the quilt binding.

How would you recommend doing a piping binding for a baby quilt with a cuddle back? I. Im not an expert quilter...more like a beginner to intermediate quilter.. I had thought of doing it via flange?

there are a few depending on the size of the cord you are using- The Mini Clear Piping foot for mini piping , the clear piping foot for piping around 6/32 . For larger piping use the single welt foot, and for huge piping use Mega Piping foot. They all work with your machine!

Maria Goumas The foot will work with all Husqvarna Viking machines, and there are similar feet for all machines on the market. I was using the Sapphire 960Q and the Designer Diamond for the 6 videos I did.
