the issue is that australia doesn't have the road situation which creates a sufficiently difficult test to weed out all the idiots. I.e. handling londons traffic with a manual gearbox is much more difficult than going around the block in Perth mashing your auto pedal. They try to mediate this with experience (i.e. in Australia I think you need like 100h of experience/drivers log?) but driving with your parents chilling out is not the same as an instructor watching like a hawk over you in a complex traffic situation. So people are completely underprepared. The other issue is that Australia's answer to accidents is to lower speed limits rather than improve drivers companionship and training I.e. if the urban 3 lane highways would have a limit of 120kmh or 130kmh rather than 80kmh people would stick to the left and concentrate and let people overtake properly rather than this american style driving where everyone is bored at 80kmh playing on their phone. The other Option is uk style limits i.e. 110kmh motorway, 100kmh outside towns, 50kmh inside towns, hardly any speed signs but you are expected to drive sensibly with speed limits only enforced in difficult traffic situations or close to intersections/towns. I.e. in the UK even though the speed limit is 110kmh on the motorway in long open sections you can generally get away driving 140-150kmh with police routinely driving 130 and dont care if you overtake them. that sort of stuff just wouldnt work with australians driving standard.
Begone with that kind of negativity... If you thought the toilet paper crisis was out of control, wait till we run out of Weetbix packets in the West . We simply don’t have enough Weetbix packs for all the licences..
@@Fopalope Basically yes, the freeway speed will be 100km/h for example, and any normal person would speed up to 100km/h on the freeway on-ramp but for some reason, a lot of Perth drivers think they should be merging onto the freeway at like 60km/h - 70km/h and then speed up once they're on the freeway I deal with this on a daily and it is infuriating and extremely dangerous for cars stuck behind the person on the on-ramp as well as the ones already on the freeway
Definitely identifies everything that’s wrong with Perth drivers. From the car that took forever to react to a green light, cuts across an unbroken line to turn right and then to the colour blind Accent driver. 🤦♂️
Technically the car cut across before the unbroken line, and I would probably forgive him for it since it doesn't affect me or anyone else (assuming he did it safely by checking his mirror and blindspot). But the fucking late reaction to the green light pisses me off to no end. I have no patience for that shit, not being ready for signal changes. The running of the red light is another story altogether.

White hatch is asleep at the wheel or on their phone 4. White hatch cuts two lanes of traffic going right from the left lane. 5. Brown hatch goes on a green light for another intersection 40m down the road Oh, it's already a hat trick. Is that the definition of over achieving?
You can see the lights further down the road change to green, and that's when he proceeded. Very bad mistake on his behalf, he won't soon forget. Hope the other driver was ok. And he's lucky he didn't get collected by a semi.

I've got a dash cam and I fervently pray that all drivers whose dash cams record the negligence of drivers that lead to accidents make sure that the innocent party gets a copy of the dash cam recording for the insurance/police actions. If they don't they are not much better than the offending drivers.
The white Hyundai driver isn't a fully trained Perth driver; he or she starts off in the left lane, and as we all know, no self respecting Perth driver ever keeps left.
Driving in the right lane in Perth derives from the same mentality as toilet paper hoarding. Everyone thinks that once there's traffic in the right lane, they'll hog it and not let anyone in, so folks preempt this and jump into the right lane while they still have a chance.
The Wild West does not disappoint. Having lived here for 6 yrs now, I've become so hyper aware of other motorists, driving in any of the eastern states is an absolute pleasure now, as it seems that WA metro drivers get the licenses on a smile.
As someone from Perth I can confirm no one here knows how to drive for the life of them and almost every time I drive there’s always someone in front of me who doesn’t realise the light is green until yonks later 🙄
I lived in Perth for a while it always amazed me that a driver could sit a a set of lights and miss an entire green cycle and not a single car would toot them. It happened on multiple occasions. In Sydney you've got about 2 seconds to move or you will get tooted.
No trucks getting stuck under bridges, no one failing to negotiate a merge, no one not knowing how the fuck to use a roundabout. Cute video Dash but give us Perth drivers a bit of respect, we're WAY worse than that!
I make the case for this being one of the worst intersections in Perth. If you approach the city from the south you take an exit ramp and end up at the intersection shown at the beginning of the video. The next intersection is Murray street, one of the main drags, so you must turn right at this intersection onto Murray street and straight towards the city centre right? Wrong! If you go into the right turning lane that the white car cuts over into, you will be taken BACK ONTO THE FREEWAY HEADING SOUTH WITH NO EXITS UNTIL YOU ARE BACK OVER THE RIVER! To actually turn right into the city you stay in the lane our dashcam is in (which is marked on the road as straight only WTF) and turn right from that lane in the intersection. There is no signage to indicate this except for cars coming from the left of the screen, like the car that hits the Hyundai that runs the red. If you come the way the dashcam came, you can't see that signage (not even meant for your lane) until you have already chosen a lane and are stuck at the intersection where it's too late. This comment probably makes no sense just like the intersection.
