i bought this exact tv in 2016 for black friday and i have only been able to view 4k content through the terrible built in apps, i thought this whole time that the hdmi ports were just not capable of 4k. i was looking into getting a new tv. this video saved me hundreds of dollars. thank you so much for doing in minutes what the multi million dollar company could not do in years.
Same here I bought this TV at Walmart on back Friday probably in 2016. It always bothered me that RUclips wouldn't play in 4k or the Xbox/Playstation. Took me awhile to figure this out.

I want to say it was probably 2019... mine only have a EDID 2.0 & EDID 1.4. (Idk wth that means??)
It won't even allow me to play w the screen settings for some reason, I know I could before because I did it all when I set it up?

Thank you for figuring this out. Just bought my mom a new Phillips and she started complaining right away that the display looks worse than her old one and I was noticing that the screen was showing 720 resolution and wouldn't play 4k content. I knew there had to be a reason. Will head over and hopefully correct the issue.
Yes, it might be slightly different than my TV. But for some reason Phillips has 4k turned off when you first buy the TV.

@SilentGames-ny5xs yeah mine is different too. I have tried everything I know to try. It won't let me change the hdmi settings (edid settings is what everything I read says I need to change) it's stuck on "auto" all the time.

My guess as to why it’s “Legacy” by default is for those using a smart tv to watch old content and don’t want to fumble through the menus to enable that. Thanks for this! I did 👍
I also get that “Auto” in theory should account for all modes without requiring intervention.

i bought the Philips android 4K TV 5700 series 65". 4K movies are running perfectly through eternal drive. can see the 4K videos in RUclips from TV and firestick as well. but the 4K movies are not streaming from the firestick i set the HDMI port to EDID 2.0, sill remains same. only audio is coming, video is black. do u have any solution for that?

So, I have the same T.V, but completely different settings options. I can go to settings, but it will only let me toggle from "speakers, power, settings".
Picture formate, multi audio and others wont allow me to even scroll to?

Im so confused cause i was getting 1080p on my tv when my laptop was plugged in and for some reason the image is so crisp i couldnt thlell the difference, normaly it would look terrible but its beautiful.

I've had my TV for 3+ years and I didn't realize it wasn't automatically 4k thanks to my new roku telling me I need to change the settings. Ty so much i probably never would have figured this out myself. They really buried the options in the settings. But seriously, f*ck Phillips for not making it default to 4k...

It's not the TV that needs to change to 4k. It's the settings on the ps5 that you have to set up.
No, it's not the play station theses TVs don't allow 4k unless you turn it on
