- Опубликовано: 4 ноя 2019
- Today we are going to review one of our favourite 35mm analog cameras: the Olympus om2! When it was released in 1975 as the successor of the famous om1 it continued the Olympus tradition of being high quality and compact. In this video we will be talking about our long term experience with this beauty. As context, we will take it on two locations to see how it preforms...
If you want to learn how to use the Olympus OM2/n check out our dedicated video quick start guide: • How to use the Olympus...

I stumbled across this video because I'm looking at picking up an OM-2N and I've gotta say it's criminal this has so few views. Great video, really well made
Thank you. That means a lot to us.
4T, why compromise?
I'm 61 and I've had one of these for about 40 years. Now I've watched this review, I might actually start using it...
so much effort was put into this video! i especially really liked that intro. you showed me new possibilities to try out with my own OM-2. cheers!
Got my Om2n a few months back and I just love it. So much effort put into one awesome video. ❤️❤️❤️
Amazing little opening sequence man. Really cool. This deserves more views :(
Thank you verry much that means a lot to us!! :D
Love the opening. The music is very very pleasing. The highlight in the b&w photos are beautiful!
Thank you for your support🙏 we put a lot of work in to our videos.
Excellent presentation indeed.I’ve just taken my OM-2 out of storage and looking forward to shooting with it again👍
How does this not have more love shown. Thank you for the excellent video!!!
This entire video is all quality and beautifully shot. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing. You've got a new subscriber!
man, I only watched 30 seconds so far but already hit the like button. That intro is outstanding! Good job :)
Thanks for this video. I originally bought myself an OM-1 in the mid 1970s, and it was my pride and joy for many years. But digital finally came into my life and I sold it when we moved to a smaller house a few years ago. I have since regretted that, and have just purchased a good condition OM-2 N form a reliable Ebay shop, and it will arrive next week. I am so looking forward to using film in a great camera again.
I was doing a little research and came across your video. I am also wondering how this doesn't have far more views. You did an incredible job. It was both very informative and thoroughly enjoyable to watch. Great job.
this was a really well made video thank you for the insightful review!
Your videos are really well made! Thanks
Terrific review and excellent production quality. 'The Algorithm' recommended this review and now I'm a subscriber. Cheers.
Love the tripod in the intro! I have one very similar-looking (identical?) handed down to me from my dad when he shot film with an Olympus OM-20.
Yeah its a Velbon FS-3. We really like that the middle column can tilt and extend:D
I have a lot of cameras and if I could only have one it would be my OM2n. The build quality is superb and the Zuiko lenses feel and perform to a very high standard. On the subject of buying one I would add that the question of prism foam rot is very important to check out.
Your pictures are really good and I have just clicked as a subscriber. Keep up the good work!
What would be best one compare to OM1N and OM2N?
I guess that means that you don't own a 4T :)
dudeeee the intro was amazing!!!!
Thanks a lot:D
So calming and aesthetic ☺️
Hollywood's highest level cinematic intro. Awesome production and review !
First of all… SUBSCRIBED ! 2nd …. That intro was fire !!!! ❤ thanks
That intro was awesome. I subscribed!
You should be doing TV commercials. Excellent video and a a plus I learned about the camera.
Lavish quality video!
nice work! thx for sharing
Keep it up, consistency is the key!
Incredible video 🙌
The production quality of this video is superb ✨
Awesome video. I love my OM2. Indestructible tank of a camera! If only Olympus had this guy doing their adverts in the 80s...there would be no other SLR brand out there! Great video. WHY is this not selected by the algorithm?
Fantastic video, i’m looking into buying a new 35mm camera after my minolta was stolen, this has definately swayed me to the OM2!
That´s great to hear! We can´t recommend it enough:D And thanks for the support.
Lovely made!!
This channel will be famous. It's very quality content. Thanks for this video
Thank you verry much! We will see ;D
Matt Day and Willem Verbeek who? Exceptional production. Thank you for that. I fell more in love with my 2 week old OM3 after this video. Keep em going. Subscribed.
Love your pictures; I was given a OM4T; wish you share about the lens you were shooting and if they were in ‘Auto’ mode
If you need to dampen the mirror further for long exposures and mirror lockup isn't available, you can shoot in Bulb. I used to carry a dark cloth I would put over the lens and open the shutter, remove it and expose for the long exposure and just release the cable release. Works flawlessly.
I have a om-2 and its my first manual analog camera but i shoot everything with the auto mode and all my photos from the first film came blurred. Any tips? Pls i am so sad and i want to try and work this again bc manually i have to carry a paper with me either the equivalent shutter speed to aperture cause i forget ^^’
Nice review. As an ex Nikon man I can highly recommend the OM system.
How did you get the photos online?? Is there a way to upload clear pictures online?
Absolutely great video! Did you use a ND filter for the photos of the water? And does the meter set the shutterspeed itself? Or do you have to push the shutter in all the time? Cheers!
Thank very much. You support means a lot us to us. When in auto-exposure the camera will leave the shutter open by itself. But there is a maximum exposure time in this mode (google it to find out the exact time). If you go into bulb mode however you have to hold the shutter release for the duration of the wanted exposure time.
What exactly angle adapter is this?
Got one of this on ebay and really really loved its size, handling and output. If only someone could convert this to digital ...
loved that intro!
Thanks, we worked hard on that:D
Wow these Macro pictures came out great
Hi nice Video, love it a lot :) Can you tell me which camera you used to make this video?
Videos as good as the camera. Olympus film fan for decades.
Regarding your comment on the lack of mirror lock-up, I find that incredibly bizarre, as the OM-1 before has a mirror lock-up switch itself! As you say, perhaps Olympus had developed a well dampened mirror of which they were confident mitigates most of, if not all, mirror slap. It is good that despite that lacking feature you were able to get pleasing long exposure results!
We totally agree:D I guess they did a pretty good job because we never had an issue with it. ;D
That was one hell of an intro
Om2n was the best.
Variation on Van Morrison's Moondance in the background?
I have the Olympus Om-2n camera and i have no idea which flash to buy for it because it only has a pinned thing at the top. Any help on this😭
Hey Lia,
you need a hot shoe for your camera it`s called hot shoe 3 you can find them on ebay. Than you can go out an get yourself a flash with one simple contact. We can recomment you the olympus Quick Auto 310 it has ttl (first ttl flash ever). That makes the flash easy to use.

@@TheLiaMatos Let us know about your results :D
Just to clarify it's hotshoe 4 not 3,
Super Video!
Hammer👍🏻
Danke:D
Your intro is so dooope! Love the stop motion !!
Great production quality, information, awesome photos. How did this channel die???
¿Qué banda de jazz al principio1:54 ?
yo dude!! great video!! cool if i snag a couple clips for my video about affordable 35mm cameras? ill be sure to credit you in the video + desc!
Yeah sure thanks for asking. Please send us a link when you have uploaden the video:D
Decided to sell my OM10 and get myself a black version of the OM-2 :)
Great choice the Om2 is definetly a better camera but the om10 isn´t bad either :D
Is the camera all metal?
differences between om2n and om2?
there are only minor differences
like a diffrent hotshoe, a lamp in the viewfinder that shows you if the flash is charged and also some small ergonomic improofments.
Greetings.
I recently found and subbed to this channel. A little feedback is, the fingersnap ruins this video's tranquility. I like your b&w-pictures. I already have a huge taste for b&w. What is the designation of the viewfinder-accessory? I might need such a thing.
Also, what is your procedure of digitizing? Your Kodak Gold-pictures seam grainy. I am not sure I would dare use that film.
I link you some videos with music that might be of interest. I have downloaded and unzipped the soundtrack from the website named khinsider. They are available from there. I am not certain about the legal aspects of using the music in your videos though:

The OM 2 was not the successor of the OM 1.
It was an OM with auto exposre mode and manual mode,
an electronic shutter controled shutter, auto correcting
the time during the exposure etc. etc.
Correct. I have used both but the OM1 was my favorit. I still use the OM Zuiko lenses though, on a Sony A7(s) mark1.
the intro was amazing but the second montage was a bit long tbh. thanks for the great overview otherwise!
Good info, just got a 2n, but too much b roll dude
Thanks for the criticism and the support:D
As good as the OM-2 is/was, the 4 was better due to the improved metering and construction improvements. TTL-FP flash was also revolutionary at the time. I've got a 2 and a 4Ti. I use the 4 ALLLLLL the time.
The OM 1 and 2 have the higher reliability rating out of all the OM system though.
Don’t shake your instant film take the photo then take the instant film put it in the dark for 15min so it can develop “don’t shake your instant film”
I've had the OM1 since 1979. It's better than the OM2 because it doesn't need batteries. It's a full mechanical camera. Plus, you can't buy the batteries anymore.
You totally can, Weincell makes a 1.5v battery with a built in resistor to make the voltage adjust to the proper voltage.
@@Caballeroshot Is that the hearing aid battery? I know a fix can be made by wiring a diode into the circuit, because I bought some diodes. I made a complete hash up of it, so if I use the camera I just take an incident light meter, which is far superior to a camera meter.
@@Jack_Warner it's actually a specific battery made for older cameras that required the 1.35V source. I get them from B&H but any good camera shop carries them.
@@Caballeroshot Oh OK thanks, but I still say that's the hearing aid battery. It does work but there was something I read about it discharging itself and the meter readings not being accurate. Get yourself a Lunasix F lightmeter. You will get accurate readings everytime and it uses a standard 9v battery.
@@Jack_Warner I know what you’re referring to and that’s not it. This is a specific battery made for cameras not hearing aids. I also shoot medium format and have an external meter.
Юрий будет дуть, дуть будет Юрий.
Less funky camera angles and lighting more straight talking
don't wanna hate, mean no disrespect but 6 mins in and I've learned zero. This doesn't feel like a review so I left. Too long winded/ artsy for a "review"
Learn to write a movie script, if you don't know how, and shoot a feature film. Believe me it's screaming inside of you.
