I don’t think it’s counterintuitive at all; in fact, most all self-empowering movements have taken ownership of what was done TO them and turned it around and claimed it in order to deflect the power it once had. By being silent (& making a big show of it with videos and posters) one is speaking volumes and shining a light on what many try to keep in the dark.
Actually, the day of silence is for everyone who has been silenced by bullying, not just the LGBT+ community. However, because our community has been so heavily impacted by bullying, we are the ones you typically see taking part in this demonstration. Also, it is not just done to stop people from bullying, it is meant to show how different everyday life would be if these people weren't there, hence the silence.
Christianity is a faith of love -we don't hate anyone . we're just trying to lead people in the right direction without judging . GOD BLESS YOU .
