I've said before and I will say again - there are good guitarists, there are great guitarists, there are legendary guitarists, and then there is Gary Moore.

People say Gary Moore is "underated", he isnt, everyone knows he is supreme amongst guitarists, he is more powerful than Clapton, far more passionate than Joe Satriani or Steve Vai and more precise than Hendrix ever was

Gary and Rory Gallagher are my two favorite Irish bluesmen. Rory's version of Muddy's, I Wonder Who on his 1974 Live Irish Tour is a classic. Rory also played lead on most of Muddy's London sessions album.

The thing about Gary Moore is that he simply could do it all and he could play with the best of them, no matter which style. Blues? Check. Blues Rock? Check. Rock? Check. Celtic Rock? Check. Hard Rock? Check. Metal? Check. Jazz? Check. Fusion? Check. The Traveling Wilburys need a solo that neither George Harrison nor Jeff Lynne feel qualified to write? Let's call up Gary Moore, he'll do it in five minutes. True story. Ozzy Osbourne starts a solo career and needs a guitarist? Let's ask Gary Moore! That guy was a musician's guitarist.
It's one thing to find your lane and excel in it but Gary excelled in every lane. He could pull off a shred run in the middle of a Blues song without it sounding out of place and without disturbing the mood of the song. Who else does that? He was blazingly fast, he was accurate, he had an incredible sense for melody and phrasing. And he could do it all with emotions behind every note. His musicality was off the charts. Truly exceptional. MASTERCLASS.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@@Devon_Rismay Hi cobber, there is a Gary Moore track called Gary Moore - Parisienne Walkways (Montreux 1999) This will knock your socks off, it's quite a long solo and NO boring parts. It's ALL emotion, Gary ''bleeds'' emotion when he plays.!!
Welcome from ''the land under'' the land down under.!!

Passion.... If you haven't already heard it, find the recording of him playing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with George Harrison at the last performance before his death. Having done the original with Clapton... it was said George was absolutely giddy at Gary's playing on stage. Listen, you'll understand why.

Great reaction sir. I was so lucky to see Gary on 5 occasions. He left everything on stage! You are slightly wrong about his earlier career with the blues - he was great friends with Peter Green (who gave him his famous Les Paul) and Gary grew up playing the blues first and foremost. - which is why he was able to return to them so easily. I am still at a loss to understand why he never cracked America !

I agree with you 100% that less is More when it comes to blues. I dont think this cover song represent his playing style its just like a showcase of his skill. I think gary was (Moore)😂 melodic player who can also shred kind of like santana. Would like to see you react to some carlos too. He is a definition of playing with your soul.
