Man how I used to fly them in the 1980’s. I miss them so much, I probably have some 13,500 flying hours in it. I have flown another version in civilian life working for a hospital. I used to be stationed at Ft Hood Texas with the 6th Cav 7/17 & 34th support battalion.
13,500 flying hours in it? there was a pilot they did 3 tours in Vietnam and 1 in Iraq, he learned how to fly nearly every plane or helicopter there is. He, in fact, died in February of 2020, he only had 13,00 flight hours in his whole career. Id doubt you had 13,500 flight hours in one rotorcraft
we just bought 70 OH-58's for Greece - looking forward to having them in the Aegean supporting our troops in a unique reconnaissance surveillance and attack role along side our Apache's
Haha hey, I just found this video. Thank you for using clips from my video, The Final Gunnery of the Kiowa. I'm very happy to see it gaining attention all the way up to this channel.
I was crew-chief on a OH-58A, 1St Armored Division, 501St Combat Aviation Battalion, Nuremberg (West) Germany. Feb.79-Sept.81. Logged 420 Flight Hrs, loved The flight pay and Separate Rats $$
I had no idea these have been around this long. In Afghanistan it took so long to clear airspace to fire our own mortars we just called the scout weapons team in these and they’d be there under 15 minutes.
To think it's been 31 years since I went to the Persian Gulf with the first Armed OH-58D's in Task Force 118, and 23 years since I was in Korea. *sigh*
Flat out stupid to replace the OH-58B Kiowa Warrior. That helicopter saved allot of lives in Iraq & Afganistan and gathered intelligence it was perfect for CAS.
This helicopter would be great to be used over The U.S Southern Border. With the weapons capability of 7.62 mini guns, 2.75rockets and AGM -114:Hellfire missles This platform would be a godsend for The Border Patrol to combat drug cartels such as Los Zetas who are highly dangerous as being military special operations trained before in Mexican army. They left the army as pay was low compared to drug distribution. Aviation Special Operations Forces can rate the fight to the drug cartels. Boeing has the MH -6 and AH-6 platforms that have both gun ship roles and can carry assault Special Operations Forces.
THESE DON'T LOOK LIKE THE KIOWA HELI I SAW YEARS BEFORE. THEY LOOK LIKE SOF BELL HELIS OF SOME SORT. THE KIOWA I SAW WAS SMALLER AND BALL SHAPED, LIKE THE ONE SEEN IN THE FILM "BLACK HAWK DOWN." IT'S PRIMARILY A SOF ATTACK/ASSAULT HELICOPTER, NOT A RAH TYPE BELL HELI THIS LARGE. REAL KIOWAS ARE PERFECT FOR THE LADIES.
We are really convinced that your OH-58 Kiowa reconnaissance helicopter could help a lot in securing the Philippine countryside from terrorists and rebels. Sell this and earn some millions of dollars.
Your obviously not a pilot if you believe the OH-58-D is a hunk of junk. The loach looks cool ill give you that especially the 160th special ops version 😉

Russell Herberg I worked at Bell on the OH-58 team when the Warrior was first armed. Yep(!), long time ago, now. *sigh*

นี่ก็ถือว่าเป็นสุดยอดรุ่น 1 เหมือนกันแต่ราคาอาจจะสูงขึ้นไปอีกนิดนึง

Your thinking of the OH-6
Hughes OH - 6 was ten time the aircraft-the oh 58;was a piece of crap- Lady Bird’s Folly-that is what we Scout Pilots in Vietnam called it-
The modern Kiowa was significantly better than the Vietnam era Kiowa. They got all of the kinks worked out and then retired them…

MISSION BULLSHIT?
Compared to the OH-6, the 58 is a hunk of junk
