I just wanted to thank you for your videos!! So a little backstory, I am a 44-year-old woman. I rode a few small dirt bikes when I was a kid. No street bikes whatsoever! My boyfriend bought a Harley in June of this year and I subsequently got the bug and decided I needed to learn to ride. My boyfriend was very apprehensive about it but ended up getting me an 05 Honda Shadow 750 as a starter. The first time I rode it (before I watched your vids) I could barely get around the block! Then I started watching videos while I work and one of yours came on. I have since watched a bunch of them! The second time I rode the bike, I went to an empty parking lot and with all your tips in my head, I rode around in circles, practiced going slow and trust and believe. My boyfriend was shocked at how good I was riding! So thank you again!! I will start out my motorcycle journey knowing what I need to do and I am very grateful to you! I love how positive you are with the people you help! I would love to go to one of your training sessions but I live in Utah, so I will just keep watching your videos! 😊
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle I sure am! And I’m constantly telling myself to preload and keep it loaded. Sometimes I don’t listen…🤣 but I’m getting better! 😊

Driving in the city, in my case Athens, Greece, with heavy traffic and general chaos on the streets, being able to stop while in the middle of a turn is absolutely essential. I have to use this technique almost every day. You never know what is behind a blind turn. Could be a pedestrian crossing the street, a car stopped, a pothole that can swallow you up, a dog running across the road, a schoolbus dropping off kids and anything else that you can think of!!!
Robert Simmons when you get a chance do an emergency stop in a turn video. If you can add also stop and escape on a turn or swerve and escape on a turn. Even being able to ride it out on a turn when the rear tries slipping under you like in dirt bike riding. TIA
Nice!! Good reminder - increase the throttle ever so slightly, press the clutch to control the power in the back wheel, use the back brake. Straighten the handlebar!! Thank you, sir!!

I actually just recently found this channel but I have been practising the low speed drills based on Jerry Palladino's and Motojitsu's drills which are basically the same type of program. What I would like to say is that these low speed drills are put to the test EVERY day on the streets. Like I said, I live and ride in Athens, Greece where the traffic is herendous and the traffic policing at least extremely lax...You can expect anything from other drivers of cars as well as other bikers. The low speed drills are what insure my safety every day. I mean every day. You have a great channel and you are providing priceless information. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. I just wish there were guys like you here in Greece but there aren't. So, I just watch the vids and set up my cones in empty parking lots and on dirt and practice!!

I love your channel sir. So much good info that is easy to understand. You are exactly correct in that 98% of riders are not proficient in slow speed riding. You'll laugh but the turning point for my slow speed proficiency came at my first trip to Sturgis. As you know, any in town riding at the rally is very slow. It made me a better rider and significantly improved my ability and confidence at slow speeds. Keep the info coming I am learning a ton. I can't believe I was just thinking about this yesterday. When I stop in the friction zone with the throttle loaded and pressing on the rear break it feels more stable. I also recommend covering the front break when you take off. I was going straight with a line of traffic to my left a car came out of nowhere Thrue a break in traffic ( Intersection.) To my left. Because I wasn't covering the front break at 15 miles an hour all I had was back break sending me into a slide not stopping. Had I covered the front brake I would have easily stopped. From now on as soon as the motorcycle starts moving I'm not only covering the rear but the front break as well. Thankfully it was only a close call. No way did I have time for the front break without it covered. Hopefully you get my point. Thanks for all you do.peace
Great video and knowledge buddy thank you very much for sharing it with us I am not a good rider but I am a better rider because of you and your videos thanks again take care
Great video. I would need a bike that I wasn’t concerned about dropping to do these exercises. Fear of dropping my FLSTF would keep me from being successful in these exercises.
I hear you Brad. But you have to put things into prospective and look at the bigger picture. Without these skills being mastered, you put yourself at greater risk than just a few scratches on your guards.
Thanks for the great information Rob! The image that jumped into my mind is seeing you walking in front of me when we are practicing the 90 degree turns from a stop...I always appreciate the trust you put in me when you demonstrate that during the practice session!
Good advice! This is the kind of random "what if" stuff I try to think of and practice when I'm on "my" practice range. I've found going to practice is good for helping to decompress after work. Just me and "Vinnie", working those handlebars lock to lock on the empty asphalt parking lot.
you make me annalise how and why i practice the way i do. one of the things i like to do is come to a complete stop at stop signs and see how long i can stop without puting a foot down. the way i approach a smooth stop ( even with my 90# pit riding with me is alittle diferent. as i downshift and slow by the time im in first im on, almost all the time just the rear break and im not really keeping the bike at a faster idle but its up more because of the way I've stopped. i find when im at a stop with my feet on both boards revving a little ,moving ever so slightly in and out of said friction zone and cocking my wheel alows me to stay stopped longer. also being on a slight incline seems to help but i dont know if thats just in my head.
Thank you although I have watched and Practice often today this video on stopping was exactly the way I needed to finally understand completely. Woa thank you
Great video Rob!! 👍👍 As always very informative and succinct. Definitely good to have this skill set when riding slow through a congested area. Even more so if a passenger is sitting in the rear seat. Especially if that passenger is the love of our lives!!😊

If U are running up the freeway doing 60mph and a car turns out in front of you? What brake do you use? Front or back? Which one will lock up and slide? 🤣🤣

Thanks for sharing this. Yes I understand. Many riders ride like this. They keep two fingers over the front brake for this very reason.
Can you talk about the importance of balanced saddle bags and slow speed maneuvering.
.
It really isn’t that important as long as it isn’t excessive and even then…
Great video and knowledge buddy thank you very much for sharing it with us I am not a good rider but I am a better rider because of you and your videos thanks again take care
Thank you very much! It’s my pleasure brother!
Right on brother thanks for the content
It’s my pleasure. 😊 Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed!👍🏾😊
Thanks for the great information Rob! The image that jumped into my mind is seeing you walking in front of me when we are practicing the 90 degree turns from a stop...I always appreciate the trust you put in me when you demonstrate that during the practice session!
It’s my pleasure brother. I have no worries with you. You’re smooth like butter out there on that Road Glide!👍🏾
Good advice! This is the kind of random "what if" stuff I try to think of and practice when I'm on "my" practice range. I've found going to practice is good for helping to decompress after work. Just me and "Vinnie", working those handlebars lock to lock on the empty asphalt parking lot.
Thanks!
Thank you, Robert!!
It’s my pleasure. 😊 Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed!👍🏾😊
you make me annalise how and why i practice the way i do. one of the things i like to do is come to a complete stop at stop signs and see how long i can stop without puting a foot down.
the way i approach a smooth stop ( even with my 90# pit riding with me is alittle diferent. as i downshift and slow by the time im in first im on, almost all the time just the rear break and im not really keeping the bike at a faster idle but its up more because of the way I've stopped.
i find when im at a stop with my feet on both boards revving a little ,moving ever so slightly in and out of said friction zone and cocking my wheel alows me to stay stopped longer. also being on a slight incline seems to help but i dont know if thats just in my head.
That all sounds accurate to me brother. Very nice!
Love the new intro!!
Thank you very much!
Robert I have seen so many guys the last few days with tall ape hangers duck walking the bikes at slow speed in city
Great information, thanks for all the help you give me.
Thank you very much! It’s my pleasure. 😊
Thank you although I have watched and Practice often today this video on stopping was exactly the way I needed to finally understand completely. Woa thank you
It’s my pleasure brother.

It’s my pleasure. 😊
Great video and message, Sir!!
Thank you very much!
Always great advice!
Thank you very much!
Great video Rob!! 👍👍 As always very informative and succinct. Definitely good to have this skill set when riding slow through a congested area. Even more so if a passenger is sitting in the rear seat. Especially if that passenger is the love of our lives!!😊
Thank you very much!
Great video Rob! I never thought about this scenario or the need to practice this but I'll be practicing it now. Thanks for all you do to make us better riders and keep us (and our motorcycles) safe.
Thank you very much! I’m happy that my channel has been helpful to you! That makes all the time and effort that I put into this so worthwhile! It’s my pleasure. 😊

Thank you sir,....
It’s my pleasure. 😊
Another great video. ....
Thank you very much!
Re your passenger. Should they sit straight up, lean with you or just look where your looking when going into a turn.
Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my RUclips channel!👍🏾😊 ruclips.net/user/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle
They should sit straight up. The closer they are to you, the better.
Are your floorboards moved forward or extended? You look stretched out more and comfortable
Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed!👍🏾😊 No they aren’t but my seat is an extended reach seat.
Does the linked braking system affect this maneuver . I have abs on an older H.D Street glide? Thanks Dan R.
No it doesn’t. 👍🏾
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle I was thinking that applying the front brake would affect the stopping as you mentioned in your vidio,s the tendency to drop you bike at a slowing to stop the bike especially when making turns . Thanks for your answer. Dan R.
P.S I have allott of respect for Our Philly and local twp. Motorcycle cops. and seeing your presentations just reinforces it.
Rob give me a Holla if you due nyc floyd Bennett I would love to come to class
I wish I could use Floyd Bennett Field!
If U are running up the freeway doing 60mph and a car turns out in front of you? What brake do you use? Front or back? Which one will lock up and slide? 🤣🤣
That question was answered in the video.
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle thanks!
What the guy should have done was go slow enough while watching any idiots that ain’t looking like a hawk, and provide them a nice, stable, fully stopped, 900lbs. Of steel,😂😂😂 to walk or run into as they choose…
You can jump off and it will keep going.
* Warning; Do Not Try This At Home. 😂
