It sounds like US Soccer only gave him a call so they could claim they did their "due diligence". They were always rehiring Gregg

Why did we not get him. He looks SUPER competent. He is the best American manager in the world. He looks like a great guy who always brings consistency. Marsch is not to far behind but I think materazzo is just more consistent. The guy also has a degree in mathematics or whatever which means his statistics and analysis are probably at a high quality level

We didn't get him for two reasons: He's qualified and he's not part of the old boy's network.

Why get a manager that is doing well in Germany when you can bring back someone that failed in Sweden ? 🤦‍♂

Ganz falsch ist das ja nicht, da er ja italienische Wurzeln hat. Wenn man sich sein Deutsch, welches meiner Meinung nach exzellent ist, aber mal anhört, hört man da schon einen amerikanischen Akzent raus.

Remember guys, we used a highly scientific and vigorous process to look for a coach , the same process that berhalter created lol, so he pretty much hired himself

USSF and Matt Crocker spent more time looking through a phonebook to search for coaches' numbers than talking to them. And that's assuming they cared enough to talk to anyone other than Berhalter the Clown

I’m just enjoying the time we’re in as an American soccer culture. We have a top coach in the Bundesliga doing his thing. Other coaches have had stints in Europe(some need to improve their tactics) & have all our young & even older talent throughout the top leagues in Europe. MLS has become a selling/feeder league for young up and coming talents. The big issue is how to put everything together and become an elite soccer/football country with a competent federation. Time will tell, but hopefully I can see the USMNT win a World Cup or even Copa America in my life time.

Called him at the end of the process. Just total BS from US soccer. They had GGG locked and loaded from the beginning. This isn't much different from when GGG was originally hired. The only difference is this time they made some courtesy calls. Pellegrino should be our coach! But unfortunately we will have to wait for that.

The USSF is an embarrassment to this country. If they actually cared about winning, they would hire him.

The problem of, US Soccer FANS not knowing Matarazzo, falls squarely on all of the US Soccer Media. At least you guys did the interview 9 months ago, but how about the other Media outlests?
We can't expect the US Soccer FAN base to know all this on it's own or from the Foreign Media!! This is ridiculous.
The US is hosting World Cup 2026 with Canada and Mexico, this means the US Media needs to start paying attention and give the US Soccer FAN base the News and Analysis it needs NOW

Whomever will be the USMNT Head Coach, he needs to know European Soccer very very very intimately. To beat European National Teams you have to know how they play and even know their players first hand. To advance in the World Cup you must beat a some European National Teams, this is the hreality.

  • @wckdaintgood

The USMNT players should come together and lose the next 5 games on purpose just so Gregg can lose his job. Devious tactics 😂
